In 2021 I was stationed in Cheyenne for COVID relief. I got transferred very shortly after signing up for the gym. They would not let me cancel my membership without transfer paperwork, which I did not have as it was a temporary assignment to begin with. I was assured on signing up that if I was transferred for the military my account would be cancelled. After trying to cancel my account multiple times I eventually lost track and ended paying on the gym membership for a couple years before noticing the charges were still coming out. I called to cancel my membership again but was again unsuccessful. After losing my house and job I was forced to switch banks, this move forcefully stopped payment, now the gym has sent me to collections for the amount they say I owe. I have payed these people hundreds of dollars and never once stepped foot in their gym. At this point they are harassing me, and clearly have some issues with cancelling gym memberships. I want the collections cancelled and for this company to leave me alone.

The gym tried contacting Stewart Dyer 6 times when the membership went default and before it was sent to collections. The email we contacted was [email protected] and the address we have on file is 1315 Howe Rd, Laramie, WY 82070. Please see the attachment for the contact history. We have no record or notes of Stewart Dyer trying to cancel their membership or contacting the gym.

I was a member of the gym. I was traveling on business for three months and called several times to have my account be put on hold. The front desk person said that was possible for a hold fee of $10. She said the person who handles that will call me back. Never received a phone call. After several attempts I then sent a letter to the gym asking for my account to be canceled as stated in the contract. They never canceled the account.

    Business Response

    Date: 05/01/2023

The gym attempted to contact the member on 6 different occasions via email and letter between December 22 and March 23. We didnt hear back until after the "90day email" sent in March. No notes or cancellations were received from the member.

I am rejecting this response because: The company made no effort to contact me by phone and the only email I received was the one I responded too. After several emails explaining the process I went through prior, they’re response at the end was “You have to pay it.” With no offer other than that to reconcile the situation.
