We have been fighting with Stage Point over the same “insurance finance charge” after our original loan got transferred to them without knowledge. We had to have 3 bankers 2 insurance agents and our accountant hound them for any resolve and the removed the fee for one month and then started charging them again the month after! They locked us out of our online account and will not respond to anything! It sounds like there are now lots of people needing help and resolve with this. For almost 2 years now we have only been paying 12 dollars towards the principle on our loan.

I have a car loan with StagePoint Credit Union and they charge surprise fees totaling $3,954.61 in less than a year. They said they couldn't confirm the insurance and lienholder listed, even though I held the proper insurance and was able to provide proof that I had held the proper insurance after realizing the fee 11 months later. The majority of the funds from my automatic monthly payments were being reallocated towards this fee without my knowledge & they took it from the monthly payment instead of a separate charge, so there was no indication of an issue. I’ve always had the required car insurance and 30 days after the loan was established, I confirmed with a StagePoint representative that my loan was approved and properly set-up. On this same call, I asked to set-up and online portal. They didn't have one at the time. I also asked to change my notification settings to email, the representative told me he was able to do that. They will not send me the recording of this call or a complete file of my loan documents. They also had the wrong address for me. The documents asked for my address, not my mailing address. The physical address needs to be shown in the county I live in, which is Grand County for the vehicle registration. That is different from the county of my mailing address, Summit County. I was specifically told to use my physical address. After I found out about the fees in November of 2022, I sent the info their representative asked for and this rep confirmed that I would not be charged another fee moving forward. I was charged just days later with the same fee which they later agreed to refund (just this one month not all). They refuse to refund the fees or help. There are many reviews online (google & facebook) with people who had the same exact problem I'm having. My car insurance company suggested I file complaints with you, the National Credit Union Administration, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. This is not a transparent company.
