      Im very disappointed with Safeway discontinuing the fuel discount. Why would I continue to shop at Safeway when theyre making record sales and yet take away an incentive. I wont be shopping here anymore, and I wont be shopping at any grocery store that is owned by the same parent corporation. If I could give 0 stars, I would. The most frustrating part is that the gas station is still advertising the discount on their building, but wont accept any coupons that I have (even though they werent expired). This is against ******** consumer protection laws. Safeway is basically a garbage business.

      Hi ********, thank you for sharing your feedback regarding the fuel discount. We can confirm that as a result of the sale of our fuel stations, effective July 31, 2023 fuel savings were no longer accepted. This message was communicated to customers through signage at all of our fuel locations, including on the front doors of fuel kiosks and on every pump. We apologize you had a negative experience, but we believe we took the necessary steps to inform our customers of this change to our business. We hope you continue to remain a loyal Safeway customer and we look forward to serving you.

      The sale flyer does not state a limit on items, but when you go to the store there is a limit posted. I asked a service representative why that is, and he stated that they are well within their rights to limit quantities even though its not advertised. Isn't this false advertising?

Although we do not know which exact flyer you are referring to, we have conducted a fulsome review of the information presented to customers within our mass distribution flyers. We can confirm that our flyers clearly state that we have the right to limit sales to retail consumer quantities in the footer bar, in addition to informing customers that some products may not be available at all locations. In addition to the above, we provide fulsome information on our website which states that we reserve the right, in its [our] sole discretion, to limit quantities of items purchased per person, per household or per order or otherwise from time to time. This information is also readily available under our Terms of Use which can be found through the following link:  https://www.safeway.ca/utilities/terms-of-use . By making this information widely available, in addition to ensuring our store staff adhere to, and are able to explain the policy, we believe this information is sufficiently clear, available, and aligns with our commitment to be fully transparent with our customers. While we do regret that you had a negative experience in our store, we believe our staff adequately explained our existing policies which are present in our flyer, our website, and can also be clarified by our helpful staff.
