I filed my taxes online and was sent a summary that stated my refund amount. I am a student and money is an issue for me so this was supposed to help me out until the end of April. I went into the office after making an appointment to sign some things and get my instant refund and was told a typo was made so my refund was actually a lot lower than the summary said and I couldn't even get the instant refund because the amount was too low. It was $400 off because of this typo and I don't have money to throw around. I had a similar thing happen last year but the difference was $1100 because of inputting something wrong. The tax "expert" also said she had been doing this since 2013 so typos like this shouldn't be happening. I had my hopes up I wouldn't have to skip buying groceries for a few weeks and would be able to afford a checked bag for my flight home.Business Response

I have filed taxes now with H&R block and have had paid money in the past. I now have been re-assessed multiple times and the *** has noted that H&R block has claimed many benefits without seeing if I was eligible. Now I owe *** a lot of money and interest. I called H&R Block and has been told there's nothing that can be done and If I would like to purchase a time slot with a representative I can and they can take a look at the issue that they made. I will not be paying AGAIN for a service that they were the ones who made the mistake. After being told several times someone will call 3-5 business days, I just get the same lady saying nothing can be done. I will be looking into lawyers if necessary as this is a lot of money and a ********** claim they have made. I can explain more clearly via telephone.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:I have been told I will be contacted by management in 3-5 business days multiple times without resolve. The *** is now charging interest and I'm looking for reimbursement as the interest is now occuring. The only solution that was offered to me was to pay for "protection" which was explained to me as someone would "look into it" but it is a paid service. Claiming benefits through the *** that I was not entitled to is ********** and should be penalized as s such. There was no way I can opt out of this as it is automatically added to the tax return without my knowledge.
Personally, I believe I should now have to pay for "management to call me so they can look into it" as they said someone will call in 3-5 business days which has not happened as it was only an employee. Very unsatisfied.

I filed my 2020 and 2021 income tax with their ************* ******* office. Both years were completed by ********************. As has my wife. We now owe over $11000. Due to his lack of tax preparation knowledge as well as his federal tax law. I had all my T4s present in hard copy. However he only entered what was in the system (***?). So this resulted in my total income to be significantly lower. ****** also insisted that we file single for 2020 because we werent considered common law. And affecting obviously everything in as far as taxes are concerned. We have reached out to the ******* ******* office. When I was told that they only enter information provided by *** even if I have other information during filing. I really dont think I have enough space to list everything affected concerning my wifes taxes as well as mine. We asked them to refile 20 & 21 and the ******* office has refused. An agent from the *** advised us to call them and ask them to do that. We are now being told we didnt pay for their so they dont have to help us. So essentially we have paid them roughly $600 over 2 yrs to have our taxes done just so we can be buried in tax debt because of ********************** complete incompetence.Business Response

I have been a customer of H&R ********************** for over 10 years over a simple tax form. Only after I went back through the tax forms I noticed errors in the H&R tax submitted going back over two years costing me thousands of dollars in tax refunds. I was told from H&R block that they will resubmit to revenue Canada and get back the money they made mistakes on. They also said they would keep me updated on what is going on with process. Nine months have past and they will not return my phone calls or I have seen a refund from the government of Canada over H&R mistake. I would like a complete refund from H&R Block including interest and a refund for there services for the years that they did my tax forms incorrectly.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: Please provide emails or proof that the management team at H&R Block has been corresponding with ***************************** at *********************************************************. I look forward to your reply .Let me remind your company H&R Block we are dealing with many mistakes and thousands of dollars in lost money from an incorrect tax returns done by H&R Block .
I see zero effect upon H&R Block to try to fix these simple tax forms after they told me they can get the the money back quickly from the the government of Canada after H&R Block readjusted the tax assessment mistakes.
***************************** has paid for a tax accounting service and this is all in H&R Blocks hands to fix there mistakes and the money owned to the client ***************************** .

A review letter we received by *** and as my household has all their taxes done by ***** Block every year and we pay the piece of mind fee. As the office I use every year is now closed I attended the closest branch that was open to ask questions on how to deal with this letter as I had never had this before. The *********************************** at ********************************************************************************* was the closest that was open for me to attend after my work. I called the office first to see if I could just get the information but I was told to come in and they would be happy to look at the letter and direct me. When I attended this office the front reception lady was very friendly and wanted to help me which was very nice. She took my letter to the only person working only to be belittled and very loud. She yelled at the lady telling her repeatedly that she did not have time for her or any time for me. As the minutes went and I stood in the lobby listening and watching this go on, this lady got more loud and yelling and using very unprofessional and degrading language towards me as a paying customer and to the employee working with her. This letter I received from the *** had a time line it had to be dealt with in and all I needed to know is what to do and how which was not easily done over the phone. I was so upset I demanded my letter back and called another location that was open to get answers for my inquiry. A person should not have to drive all over a city to be treated this way when this *** process is already a very stressful one for a people who DO NOT deal with this every day like the employees at ***** Block. We pay the fees to have this company assist us to do our taxes and they should stand by their customers in their industry.Business Response

I bought tax return preparation software from H&R Block for an online return. They wanted me to buy the higher priced audit protection package, but I have a very simple straight forward return so I took the lower priced one. They estimated my return at over $2000. *** has just told me that there will be no refund. I called H&R Block to see if they could figure it out and they told me they could, but I would have to purchase the Audit protection plan for $79. It seems odd to be professionals off by THAT much money and that the only way to even look into it is for me to pay what they originally wanted to sell me. It just seems like a scam.Business Response

My husband and I used H&R block for the second time at the ****************** office. There was a slip that my husband received from an inheritance. We were not sure about the slip and included with our tax paperwork. The gentleman who prepared his taxes did not realize it was an inheritance and included the amount as other income. When we found out it was an error, it was too late as his taxes were already filed. There was no phone call made to us by the office to ask what the slip was in regards to. My husband had made a RRSP contribution which was not included on his tax return. I was told by the gentleman that I could not claim my $800.00 medical expense without an explanation from him. My husband has been dealing with *** since taxes were filed. *** *** **** ********* ** ******** *** ******* ********* *** **** **** ********* **** ** *** *** ******** ***** *** *** ***** ** ********* My husband calls *** 2-3 times a week, but still no answers. On Mar. 31, 2022, I received a tax refund check for the amount of $*******, from H & R Block, **** ****************************************. which I deposited in person at the **************************, ****************************************************. On April 06 2022 H&R Block did a cashback of the total amount. I was charged a $9.00 cashback fee. Discussions with ***** said there was a double deposit. The ************ said it was a single deposit. H&R provided some numbers but the credit union said they could not access them.This issue is unresolved. I need my money back, please. In February 2022 I provided my tax documents to *************************** at HR Block to complete a ** and ******** Tax Return. On April 15 I was told the ******** tax return was complete and I had a refund. After a month of contacting her to tell her to send me the completed tax return, I was ignored. Finally, sick of being ignored, on May 14 I went directly to the office and demanded to speak to her. She had never completed the ******** tax return. And she had never completed the ******** tax return either. So I did them myself. But at this point it was past the deadline so I had accrued late fees for both my ******** and ******** taxes. I paid $970 ** for my late ******** return. I paid $160.80 for my late ******** return. I contacted ***************************, the district manager, who agreed over the phone to refund me. But when I emailed him to follow up, he replied saying:"I have reviewed your situation with *****. From everything I have seen, there is no evidence of negligence on ****** part. There is no way to know if the return was prepared properly, as we did not complete the tax return. There was also plenty of time to file without late fees. When ***** completed the tax return there was a refund and therefore had until June 15 to file the return. ***** has correspondence to this effect, stating there was a refund but did not hear back from you until May 12, 2022. Therefore, I cannot approve a claim for any financial compensation."This is all a lie. She never completed the tax return. Note he does not even mention the ******** return, as if that does not exist. And I tried multiple times to contact her by phone and she never replied. Not to mention the fact that he agreed to refund me over the phone. I would like them to pay me to $970 ** and $160 CAD I was forced to pay because they took four months to not complete a tax return they were assigned to do. Thank youBusiness Response
