In 2018 I purchased a new 2018 Nissan Qashqai. Against my better judgement I purchased a Platinum Security Plus added security plan (extended service plan) for $3075 that extends from 36 months to 60 months. I purchased this because I was offered a Guaranteed Price Refund Agreement for an extra $300. This was presented as an plan that would refund a portion ($1950) if no claims were filed as at the end of 60 months. At 56 months I sold the car. I waited until the plan expired at 60 months to apply for a refund as required by the agreement. It was denied because I didn't own the car. The plan states you have to own the car to file a claim which I assumed meant you have to own the car to file a claim for a new transmission, for example which makes sense but the agreement defines the application for a refund as a claim.I went to the dealership with my issue. While they were sympathetic and suggested I should receive some sort of accomodation nothing happened and after a while no response to my email. I filed a complaint with BBB against Nissan in *******. No luck. These aggrements are written by lawyers for lawyers to not payout. There is a very narrow set of circumstances that will allow for the full limited refund. The most frustating part of all this is the lack of knowledge of this "product" at the dealership, customer care and the plan administrator. Lots of "we value you as a customer and thank you for your input" but no real expaination everyone had a different interpretation. So bottom line is Nissan paid out zero in claims and I paid out $3370 plus tax with no refund. Ironically had the car been stolen or written off or reposessed at the time of sale I would have received a pro rated refund of about $1300.
