We had previously used *** Rooter for a drain inspection and were satisfied so we contacted them to look at our clogged basement drain. The technician arrived and we discussed that a flooring contractor had put floor leveller in the drain years ago and we werent sure if that was the issue. The technician was nice and said he could auger and see what could be done; there was no discussion about price. After several hours it was determined that the drain couldnt be cleared. We were then told it would be $700. Wow! That is $350/hr which we never would agreed to as it is way above what the industry norm is. We were not quoted in advance and felt completely ripped off so we contacted the company. They replied that it was not possible to quote in advance but due the circumstances would half the invoice if we had them out again to repair the drain. I asked what the hourly rate was and what the cost was based on and was told the dont have an hourly rate and jobs are invoiced based on scope of work (in advance of the work being performed which it was no). I expressed that we would not do that with a company that was not transparent with their prices and requested a partial refund to which we decided no response. We have no issue paying for services rendered, nor do we fault the fact that the drain couldnt not be fixed. Our issue is that the scope of work was known in advance and no discussion of cost was done until immediately after the work was completed. The invoice was coded and the amount of $710.20 was based on task C1100-power auger through a clean out. Based on their advertised terms and conditions, this should have been discussed with us in advance. Instead we were charged an outrageous rate with no recourse expect to spend even more with a company that clearly charges well over industry standards. We will definitely never recommend this company and I believe that their positive rating is based on name recognition only.

I did look through our records and could not find any previous work for this customer at this address. So I was unable to compare any previous work we did for them. We do typically quote our work on site before proceeding. Unfortunately someone did put floor leveller down their drains, which is very challenging. Our plumber did arrive and wasn't sure if a drain cleaning would be the answer, or if this was going to be much more. He did let the customer know that he was not sure and was asked to proceed. He did try the less expensive task in hopes to remedy this for them. After 2.5 hours he had exhausted his options to clear this drain. It is unfortunate that we could not clear the drain with the power auger, but we did offer to send our Field Supervisor over to see what can be done instead. We offered to credit half the invoice towards any work they went ahead with, but did not hear back from them.

That is false. I emailed you back on May 28th and received no response from you. Please be truthful and not misleading. $700 for 2.5 hits of work is ludicrous.

This is untrue, I emailed back in May 28th and received no response. The technician knew he was going to auger, he should have told us what that cost was before proceeding as this company has set rates for specific work performed. If we were told it was the equivalent of $280/hr we would not have proceeded with their service and that is an outrageous price for plumbing services.

I apologize, we did not receive your response to our last email on May 28th. I will have to look into that and see why. Again we charge by the job, not by the hour. We factor in equipment, time, labour, insurance etc. I am sorry you did not see the value in your service and I do hope you seek some sort of compensation from the company who put leveller down your drains.

I only wish I had read the reviews here before booking. Since reading the reviews on over pricing, speaking with acquaintances, and calling around to other local plumbers, I feel I paid a hefty fee for a 30 minute basic bathroom sink unclogging. No cables required. 423$** * ****** **** **** ***** **** *********. Now I know when I asked for a general quote for basic sink clog, they wouldnt give me one. Once they are here and tell the price its more difficult to say no because they already will be charging their show up fee. Lesson learned. Ive been given general local quotes of 150$ less by others today. I went with the big name and paid big.

We were never notified of any problem with this customers service. After receiving the call we were out the next day and removed a lot of hair from the drain to get it flowing again. We do have 30 day warranties on all drain cleaning, so if the problem persists we would be happy to come back out to clear it.

Worlds most expensive Outdoor Tap . They charged me $510.00 for an outdoor tap that could be purchased for $75.00 and under at a local plumbing supply .

We received a call regarding a leaking outdoor faucet. We arrived on site and capped if off at no charge. The following day they called back for us to come out because it was leaking badly. It was a Friday, so we had no availability until Monday. We were told if it got any worse they would have to call someone else. They waited for us to come out on Monday and our service technician went over the job on site. After getting approval he proceeded to do the job. Two days after the work was completed we received a call that other companies charge less. We are not sure which companies he called or what sort of overhead they have to account for. Mr Rooter Plumbing is a Franchise, but family owned. We have to consider all costs when we factor in our prices. (which have skyrocketed with the recent inflation) We account for wages (we pay a fair living wage and want to keep the good ones around!) **** Liability insurance (which protects us and the customer) Fuel, truck maintenance and repairs, equipment, materials, office expenses, advertising, uniforms etc. We realize that we charge more than a "one guy operation" but we stand by our work, provide warranties, use leading industry equipment and will always be available to take your call.
It is unfortunate that this customer did not see the value in our service. Had he just declined to have us do the work after he was quoted, we would have been happy to leave.

Being charged $510.00 on the invoice for the tap is ******** a ***** Record considering the exact part an outdoor tap on ****** or local plumbing store is approximately $75.00 . I still find it deceiving to quote a job without clarity of labour cost and part costs. The big assumption **** ** ** **** *** that to remove and replace an outdoor tap was labour intensive. Which was not the case and I have no problems with the labour charge . But I do have a reaction to being charged $510.00 for a part

We want to guarantee our work, so we purchase everything from reputable wholesalers. We are aware ****** can charge less for parts from around the world. We can not compete with that. Again, had this customer declined the estimate we would have been happy to leave at no cost.
