The situation at the location in Langford on September 14th, 2024, was a busy one filled with complex issues of several vehicles. The crew handled it with great patience and professionalism. Lucky most customers were in great moods as this was a beautiful sunny coolish day.
The tech was amazing, and the manager was professional under tons of pressure. Well done Great Canadian oil change crew under and over vehicle.

This place is amazing! Above and beyond excellent customer service with EVERY visit. All staff are very knowledgeable, friendly, experienced and capable. They do great work and every one of the employees are always friendly and give service with a smile and genuine enthusiasm. I have been taking my vehicles there for years and always experience exceptional service and it's always a great experience. I get my regular servicing only done there.
Also, every time I am going to go out of town or Up Island on a road trip, I always go in to have them check my fluids, oil, tire pressure, air, signals etc... and even if there needs to be a little oil or washer or fluids top up, they have done it complementary. I have recommended and had friends and family switch to Great Canadian Oil Change in Langford, and they have ranted and raved the same satisfaction as my exceptional experiences. Thanks, you guys and keep up the amazing work and service. You are the best in town!

My partner and I both often use their services we are loyal customers!!
Now we are on the hook for spending thousands on a new vehicle due to your neglect!
      Do not use this company!!
RANT to Great Canadian Oil Change to in Langford.

On Nov 15, I went to get my oil changed at 872 Langford Pkwy location and when I first arrived, I could tell immediately they were short staffed. I noticed they only had one person downstairs working on all 3 vehicle bays. I went in to get an oil change and the wait was a lot longer than usual, but I wasn't in a rush so that wasn't an issue for the oil check. The change oil light didn't turn off and they said don't worry, it'll eventually turn off.

On November 30, after only driving 800km to and from work each day, my truck started running extremely rough. I checked the dip-stick and it was dry, so I looked at the drain bolt and saw that it looked fine and had the tamper-proof seal still intact. I looked at the oil filter and immediately saw fresh oil right underneath it on the control arm and fresh oil drops coming off the oil filter. I immediately called Great Canadian Oil Change and told them what happened. The employee on the phone told me they were honestly not surprised; it's been happening a lot recently which was very shocking to hear.  They asked me to drive my vehicle there so they can confirm what I'm saying. Once I arrived, they looked at my truck and said everything was done correctly. I find that very hard to believe when it was very clear that the oil filter was leaking and they didn't take any accountability. They swapped everything out and did a fresh oil change but by then it was already too late. My engine had already been damaged. You made us drive back with a faulty engine asked to take the vehicle over the weekend (until today) and determined that they wouldn't fix the engine they broke.

Said vehicle was serviced on November 15, 2023, where the mileage at the time of service was noted at 182,511 km; our technicians noted at the time of arrival the vehicles dipstick did not have “any” oil on it and this information was also conveyed to said customer. Video footage of the service provided determined the oil change was executed with 100% accuracy. Additionally, an oil level dipstick confirmation with the customer was recorded with our technician pointing to the dipstick with their finger, showing said customer where the oil level should be as a result of the completed oil change. A pressure checks on both the oil filter and oil drain plug are recorded on video with having no leaks whatsoever. The invoice was closed, and the vehicle left the premises.

Sixteen days after the above noted service, with an additional 500km driven on the vehicle, said customer called the branch where the service was completed and inquired “what type of oil he was using” and further stated “that the oil filter appeared to be leaking”. Our technician who fielded asked the customer to return to the branch if the vehicle can be driven safely back.

December 1, 2023 at approximately 1745hrs, the vehicle returned with 183,092km to investigate into the claim the oil filter was leaking.
It was determined the oil pan drain plug was torqued to spec; the oil filter recorded as a VO58 was still secure, along with minor oil droplets the size of a pin head found on the cross member below the oil filter. Our management team found the area around the oil filter and oil pan drain plug was dry. A complimentary removal and reinstall of the oil filter were completed to determine further if the oil filter was compromised; it was determined everything was in good condition and intact.
Our management team determined the oil level was “1” liter over the top of the safe zone for the oil dipstick after replacing the original oil filter. It was determined, said customer added “2” liters of oil prior to coming to the branch for the investigation to occur as noted above. It was also recorded, upon arrival to investigate the oil filter the vehicles check engine light was on; scanning the code complimentary it was determined a “cylinder 3 misfire”. Our company provided this information to the customer, while an additional Manager was removing the oil from the overfilled engine, bringing back the level of the dipstick to the safe zone. It was also noted said customer indicated they “picked off the tamper seal on the oil drain plug”.
It was noted during the conversation on December 1,
2023, said customer may have overfilled their engine, caused more pressure than needed in the cylinders of the engine – this, stemming from the check engine light code pulled upon arrival into the shop on December 1, 2023 – where the code indicated “cylinder 3 misfire”.

Our company, with a high degree of certainty, believes the overfilled engine by said customer was the cause of a purported knocking sound from the engine. Our company feels the customer realizing their vehicle burns oil overfilled their engine.
As a result, our company is not responsible for any/all purported “knocking sounds” said customer indicated was occurring and there was found no evidence of the purported oil filter leaking. It was noted when the vehicle did leave the premises after the inspection noted above, the purported “knocking sound” could not be heard. Our company values the chance to serve the Langford area. We take responsibility for our product and services if either of these are found to be negligible. In this particular case instance, no evidence can be found to support the customers claims and do not appreciate the malicious and defamatory comments found in this review and found within ********* ****** and Katelyn C********** Google review accounts as-well.
