    Dear Better Business Bureau,

    I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding the misleading practices and lack of service from Doctor Appliance Repair Halifax, which turns out to be based in Ottawa, as explained by their representative. The company that actually came to my home is called Appliance Repair Experts Halifax. Upon visiting their website, I noticed multiple phone numbers listed, which adds to the confusion.

    I initially contacted the company on the understanding that they were local. Since their visit on the 14th of last month, I have experienced significant delays, lack of communication, and unprofessional behavior. Despite numerous phone calls, emails, and messages, no one has returned my inquiries or provided updates regarding the parts I was charged for. I believe my calls are being deliberately screened, further exacerbating the issue.

    I was informed that the repair process would take three days. However, it has now been over a month with no resolution. This situation has caused me considerable mental anguish and stress, significantly impacting my health ** * ** ********** ********** *** ******** Additionally, the inconvenience of not having a functioning washing machine has caused my family, including our children, to incur over $100 in laundromat expenses.

    At this point, I am seeking compensation for:

    The expenses incurred for laundromat visits.
    The portion of the invoice related to the washing machine repair.
    The time and effort spent trying to resolve this matter.
    I kindly request that this matter be addressed as soon as possible. This experience has been extremely taxing, and I expect a resolution promptly.

    On Tuesday, January 2, I called this company as I was having issues with my fridge. You cannot call anyone in the company directly, you can only leave your information and they contact you. I asked what the cost might be. She said it was $129.00 plus tax for the onsite diagnostic. If I decided to proceed with the work, the fee would be APPLIED to the labour cost. I was working so needed to arrange someone to be there to let him in. I told her my brother would let him and asked if I could pay the fee by phone if I was not there. She said yes they would send the invoice to my email. 2 lines needed to be cleared which was a quick fix. He then wanted payment. My brother said he required the payment on site, so gave him his credit card. He charged his card $270.25 inc tax. When I got home, I checked my email for an invoice and there was nothing there. A short time later I received it and there was no breakdown of the cost. Just the diagnostic description and then a line that said $235.00 plus tax for labour. It also said at the top of the invoice that the diagnostic fee was waived. This is not what was described on the phone; I had not received an invoice or able to ask questions as to how they arrived at a $235.oo charge for clearing 2 lines in about 10 minutes, and, there was supposed to be a $30.00 discount for new customers that was not applied (the repairman said it was automatically done by their office for the charge.) I requested a call back by a manager and asked for a breakdown of the charge and all he would say is that was the cost. When I asked about the discount, he said he was not authorized to change that and that my only outlet was to email the head office and they "might reply". He said they do not have phone numbers! He said he can't even call them. I did email and received a one line reply, that the diagnostic was waived. Nothing else.
