    Good Morning,
    I hope all is well with you. This vehicle was at Harrington for a steering system malfunction and was brought here for a second opinion on Jan 27, 2023 as Harringtons also said it would need a power steering rack. Here is what the Technician found and my apologies as it is in all CAP locks as that is our DMS system:
    SCANNED VEHICLE AND FOUND NO COMMUNICATION WITH CONTROL MODULE FOR POWER STEERING AS WELL AS MULTIPLE OTHER FAULTS INVOLVING STEERING RACK. PERFORMED TEST PLAN THAT POPULATED FOR THIS FAULT. TEST PLAN WANTED POWER AND GROUND TO MODULE CHECKED AS WELL AS ALL WIRING CONNECTORS BETWEEN ECM AND THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE. POWER AND GROUND TO MODULES AS WELL AS ALL WIRING AND CONNECTORS CHECKED OK. POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE IS PART OF THE STEERING RACK, VEHICLE WILL REQUIRE A NEW STEERING RACK, CODING OF POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE AND VEHICLE ALIGNMENT.
    LOWERED FRONT SUBFRAME, REMOVED OLD STEERING RACK. FOUND DAMAGED PINS IN ONE OF THE CONNECTORS OF THE STEERING RACK. INSTALLED NEW STEERING RACK, RE-INSTALLED FRONT SUBFRAME. TORQUED ALL BOLTS TO SPEC. LOWERED VEHICLE BACK TO GROUND AND SCANNED VEHICLE. FOUND ALL FAULTS FOR STEERING RACK TO HAVE CLEARED EXCEPT FOR NO COMMUNICATION WITH THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE. RE-CHECKED ALL POWERS AND GROUNDS AND FOUND ALL TO BE GOOD. FOUND THAT THE SOLDERED POINT INSIDE OF THE TMR CONNECTOR THAT COMES FROM THE MAIN HARNESS FROM THE BATTERY TO HAVE CORRODED AND IS NO LONGER MAKING A GOOD CONNECTION. THIS IS CAUSING NO POWER AT TIMES. CLEANED UP THE WIRING AND ATTEMPTED RE-SOLDER/CONNECT, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DUE TO SIZE OF THE WIRING. WILL REQUIRE NEW MAIN HARNESS AS THIS CONNECTION COMES AS PART OF THE MAIN HARNESS FROM THE BATTERY.

    This client has never been here before and as an offer to assist with this repair of the main harness which is a four hour job, Audi Halifax offered to take care of the labour and the client pay for the part. Since the rack was replaced all fault erased minus one. There was more than one issue with this vehicle and the rack had to be replaced first. Audi Halifax also offered a courtesy vehicle for them to use while parts were on ordered which they denied.
