JonesCo have been an absolute nightmare. **** ***** THREATENED LEGAL ACTION if I complained to the BBB or made a review that wasn't 100% accurate. This was in response to my email expressing frustration that after 200+ DAYS OF CONSTRUCTION (now 361+) with many defects not fixed. Video/photos to back all claims.

Roof installed in Jan. The SHINGLES IMPROPERLY INSTALLED according to roofing associations & manufacturer. Sealant wasn't used. 26 Jan shingles blew off & lots bent up. Many nails seen were exposed, driven in on an angle etc. - all future points of failure. 03 April JonesCo repaired roof. 07 Apr more shingles came off. 17 May roofing company replaced SOME missing/improperly installed shingles. NO MANUFACTURER WARRANTY on this roof.

Contract says floor to be polished. Major defects in the floor including large areas where the SURFACE IS BREAKING UP/VERY ROUGH. More areas break up weekly. JonesCo's response “Your garage concrete floor is not an interior finished floor” At least 40% of the floor is damaged/rough & not “Some small top layer rough spots are not a deficiency” as JonesCo claims.

OVER BILLED for 13 1/2 hrs of excavation instead of estimated 4 in the contract. Includes 2 hrs when operator was not onsite. OVER BILLED for fill removal/disposal. OVER BILLED for electrical work. No change order/discussion as an extra charge. No credit for work/material that was to be done.

Concrete crew DELIBERATELY DUMPED large amounts of concrete in a flower bed, lawn & driveway. This is intentional dumping of INDUSTRIAL WASTE & not “disturbed ground”. JonesCo later sent someone to clean up SOME concrete from flower bed but little else done.

Electrical trench was improperly filled in leading to the GROUND GIVING WAY on walkway. Building is NOT WATER TIGHT. Large area is wet / damp after rainfall. Weather strip around access door damaged. JonesCo sent someone to fix but wrong part.

JonesCo's website makes promises/statements that were not fulfilled.

461 successfully completed garage projects since 2018.............. and somehow this garage was completed ( despite being inspected by a Municipal official ) with such egregious errs that it warranted complaint in a public forum. Once again, a perfect example of someone wielding the BBB like a club in the hopes of receiving a deep discount on a project they fully understood the costs of. Does anyone even read these frivolous complaints ??? If you are reading this, please email us at ************************ and let us know that 3-4 people that would not be satisfied out of 461 clients in 5 years helped make an informed decision about hiring a new home or garage builder.

Upon notification that no discounts would be administered nor would JonesCo simply forget about funds in arrears, and would further seek all collection methods necessary, this client has remitted payment

      Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
JonesCo make it sound like I was seeking a discount.  What I was seeking was for them to provide me with quality work instead of the substandard garage they took nearly 1 year to complete.  It took the shingles flying off the roof 3 times before they sent actual roofers to fix it.  Every defect that was pointed out to them was covered in legal wording in the contract.  **** ***** had an excuse for everything.  They are trying to paint me as a bad customer who didn't want to pay.  The exact opposite is true.  I paid the deposit within a week of the plans being approved.  No work was started for 3 months even though I was told it would start within a month.  The 2nd invoice was also paid within a week of Randy Sheen sending it (they back dated it to November but sent in December).  **** ***** sent the final invoice saying they were done when there was still a number of defects outstanding.  **** Jones's ***** response to my concerns was to immediately accuse me of not wanting to pay and Cc'd his lawyer.  He also threatened legal action if I complained to the BBB. He has no problem trying to make me look like the bad guy.

In the past 18 months, in addition to the garage, we hired a contractor to renovate our former home and we installed a solar system on this one.  The renovation contractor went far and above what we expected and they were paid the full amount the day they finished.  The solar contractor's 1st invoice was paid the day before it was sent and the final invoice was paid the day after completion.  These 2 contracts totaled just over $91,000.  Not once did I have to question them when they were going to show up, nor were there any complaints about quality or workmanship and not 1 penny more than the quoted amounts were demanded.

Others may have had good results from JonesCo but I deeply regret ever contacting them.

And just to note JonesCo removed nearly $1,000 in extra charges that were never authorized or discussed.

When someone coined the phrase "buyer beware" they were probably a JonesCo customer.
