    Good day,

I’m messaging because Canada General Warranty is refusing my claim.

I put in a claim on July 18, 2024 to have the transmission of my car rebuilt. I never received any sort of confirmation that the claim was accepted. In the mean time, my wife was attacked by our neighbour and in the process he damaged the vehicle and it had to go in to have those repairs done. This took months due to issues with insurance and getting parts.

I received the car back and messaged Canada General warranty on Feb 28 to inquire about the claim. I was told the claim was put through and that I just needed to send the receipts for the work. I messaged them back thanking them for the information and brought the car to the mechanic. There is only 1 transmission mechanic in my town and he is a very busy man, he told me it would take some time but he would get to it for me and that the quote was stilm the same.

Today I stopped into the shop to check on things and he said he will be taking my car in the shop in the next couple of weeks. I decided to message the warranty company to let them know and they informed me they will not be helping me now. I asked them why and they said it’s because the claim has taken too long and because the quote is no longer valid.

I have a copy of the agreement the sent to the mechanic and there is no time limit on getting the job done, if there was, he would have done it in the time given. I told them this and they argued me that it didn’t matter because the quote was only good for 30 days. I told them that I was at the mechanics shop today and the quote is the same, he said “I quoted you $3500, so that’s the price”. When I told them this they just went on about how it’s been almost 10 months since I put the claim in. They were rude about it and I’m very upset about it.

I could really use some help resolving this issue, I have the emails saying to just send in the receipts and a photo of the payout info with mention of completion dates.
