On or about May 20, 2022, Hometurf Lawn Care Inc. trespassed onto our property when we weren't home and completed an application of something to our grass. We did not request or authorize them to complete the application. We phoned Hometurf as soon as we discovered an application had been done and they cancelled our service for the remainder of 2022. The amount they claim we owe is solely for that single application.
We requested services from Hometurf for 2021 and paid for them in full. We received multiple emails requesting that we renew our services for the 2022 (*** ********) but we intentionally did not renew. When we disputed the charges for the application referred to above, we were told that our lawn care program renewed automatically, notwithstanding the multiple emails we received encouraging us to "renew" for the 2022 year. The emails were extremely misleading *** *** ********.
We have spoken with Hometurf representatives multiple times on the phone, and we have also exchanged multiple emails. in 2021 I used Hometurf lawn care. At the end of the 2021 season I called Hometurf and told them that their service did not meet my expectations to reduce weeds etc. At that time I told them I never wanted them to come to my home again and that the following summer I would be using a different lawncare service.
At the beginning of the 2022 season I came home to find a sign on my lawn and a bill in my mailbox. I immediately called Hometurf and again expressed my displeasure. I explicitly told them I did not renew the service, I did not approve this service application, nor was I made aware that chemicals would be applied to my lawn.
I continue to receive emails and ********* calls for a payment of $117.90 on Account Number ********.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: This is a never ending phone call and email cycle. I called in 2021 to complain about the state of my lawn and told them at that time I wanted no more service from them. They seem to have forgotten this conversation and came back in 2022 and treated my lawn against my wishes. Since then I have called and emailed. Now I have a past due notice that I will not pay as I explicitly told them, in 2021, that I no longer wanted their services.

I am rejecting this response because:I would like to resolve this in writing because it appears as though what I have communicated via phone call has been ignored. They have ignored each time I call and do not listen to the series of events.
They have sent this to collection, which it should not go to collection as they appear to have ignored my initial request in 2021 to discontinue their service.
Subsequent emails have had a link to restart service, so it makes sense that I believed the service to be cancelled.
There are many complaints against Hometurf on this BBB site which gives me comfort that that are not only trying to take advantage of me, but others as well.
Hometurf, due to their ***** nature, can communicate via email or other written avenues.

Signed up for services in summer of 2021. They came back in 2022 and applied treatments without our knowledge and consent. When we called they claimed and said all of their programs are renewed automatically and we are on the hook for the money. I have used their service in for the last few years, all services were selected and purchased through their website. They send notices each year to sign up for the new season, this year I did not sign up for any service because their service wasn't very good. On March 22nd 2022 someone came and put early spring fertilizer down, I emailed them and told them I did not renew and did not sign up for a lawn care package.
They responded on March 22nd with: "Thank you for your email. Our services are auto renewed unless you call in to cancel. We have no note on file that you requested a cancellation for the 2022 season.
Please let us know if you have any other questions."
They have since on 2 additional occasions sent people to apply things to my lawn when I was home and I've stopped them and told them I canceled. They keep sending me bills for all 3 applications, and they keep calling me. I have told them repeatedly I did not sign up for package and I cancelled in writing in March and they keep trying to apply things to my lawn and they keep adding it to my invoice. This is a scam!!
It is unacceptable to think they can just show up and apply hundreds of dollars’ worth of 'service' to someone's property without pre-payment, and against their wishes. I told them I am not paying, and I told them to remove me from their system and never contact me again. A month later...they called again looking for payment.Customer Answer

On Monday October 3rd, a manager from HomeTurf Lawncare did reach out and say that because of my complaint with the BBB they are clearing the invoice that was in error. My name is ******** *****. My Hometurf account is ***** ********. On or about April 13, 2022 I contacted Hometurf to order their Ambassador Program which cost $366.06 and was their best plan. It provided 6 scheduled visits, 3 of which provided weed control and I could also call in if after 72 hours the weeds have not been affected for free. The whole purpose for ordering the service was for the weed control. I had neighbours on both sides of me that did not take care of their weeds and now I have only weeds on one side where my garden and lawn have been invaded. I have called Hometurf two times for a weed respray but had to wait until their next visit even though they said they would come right out anytime. The first time I called I asked about cancellation and refund and was told that was not an option. The second time I called I was treated like an idiot and the rep was very argumentative when I asked to speak with a superviser but I gave up and sent an email. In response to my email I was assured that my summer treatment would be done Aug 12 along with weed treatment. I asked that the tech knock on the door so I could observe. They came did the summer treatment as far as I can see, did not knock on the door and left.
Now I have to wait 72 hours before I call again. Between each respray I have manually pulled the weeds and dead plants from the south side of my garden and lawn. I am an old woman (almost 70) with limited income who has always had beautiful lawns and gardens but not anymore. Only once has the weed spray turned them black. It would be nice to have them pay for my lost plants but I don't expect that will happen.
After ready the complaints on your site I am contacting ********** to see how I can stop them from charging for next spring. I have also sent an email asking Hometurf to note my account that they are not to renew my care in the spring. I guess we will talk soon. Thank you for your time.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:The resprays have not taken care of the dandelions still in my lawn. The agreed to have the rep knock on my door when arriving to do the work. That has never happened.
They have spoken to me and said they are cancelling my service. That is fine with me because it is not worth the upset. My concern is that they will attempt to process another payment when my next service is complete. I just get phone calls but no emails to confirm them.
The supervisor calls and tells me I am wrong and argues with me and I find this very upsetting. She also calls to tell me to stop involving the BBB whenever you contact them.
They fail at customer service. I would still like a refund of some sort but I guess that wont happen.I give up!

I hired this company to service my lawn for the summer of 2020. They completed the service and I cancelled the service and had no contact in 2021. Then they start showing up this summer and were verbally told to leave and that I had no account with the company and authorized no work. I finally got a human on the phone and after explaining that I had no account with the company I was told I only had one more visit to complete the season and if I didn't pay I would get bad credit rating.
I just want them to stop trespassing and stop sending me bills...currently at 413.18 which I have no intention of paying.
This company is preying on the elderly...I am 92.

Received overdue bill notice and charges for as service in 2022 I did not request or contract. Contracting is misleading by the company. In 2021 I paid for service in one payment for the full year. At the start of 2022 I received several notices requesting sign up for early bird pricing for service for the year. I did not request the service and was unaware of the treatment plan for 2022. Recently, I found a bill in a plastic bag in my bushes indicating I owed over $330.00 for service and late charges. When I called to speak with a rep I was told although my credit card number isn't kept on file year to year, that I had to phone or send written notice for 2022 that I wanted to cancel the program. I never received notice that I would have treatments to my lawn, nor did I receive a schedule of treatment. When I noted their practices are misleading to customers, I was told that's just how it is. I expressly noted I wanted the remainder of the service cancelled and was told I still owe $260.79 for the services they say they have provided. Since your contact with them, I have received two emails, one notifying me of the cancellation of my services with them and the other being an invoice for services provided this year (that I did not authorize).
When I first spoke with a company representative, I requested an itemized statement for services they say they provided and for any late fees to be waived. I was told I would receive an itemized statement and the late charge would be waived, however upon receipt of the invoice, costs for services provided were not itemized and the late charge remained.
I followed up with them again today requesting they send the itemized statement and for the late fees to be waived and am now awaiting a response.
Needless to say, I am not satisfied with their response.
