  Top marks to A&B Paving for the driveway paving job recently completed (Aug 2024). Double wide, about 750 sq ft.I got a couple of quotes from companies that have been around for a long time, and the prices were very close, but what sold me on A&B is that it was recommended I NOT go for the less expensive "Peel, Pack and Pave" due to the severe depressions in the old driveway, but that I go for the deep dig (10 inches) with a layer of fabric below new gravel and asphalt top. The less expensive "Peel, Pack and Pave" where the old asphalt is removed and a bit of gravel added to top up the existing base might work if your underlying soil is stable, but in our area where **** is "king", a new and deeper gravel base is required to prevent sinking and depressions as the **** further settles. I know this from recent work on our foundation with issues caused by **** ********* Another company gave me quotes for both options and I expected that they would have given me better guidance on which option was best for my soil base.Although scheduling the day for paving was not as easy as I had hoped (due to A&B having many larger commercial jobs), once the crew arrived, it was extremely efficient with up to 10 workers on site including the owner. As I observed their work it was clear to me that they had the right equipment, process and people for the job. Everyone was friendly, willing to answer questions, but very focussed on thejob at hand. Good cleanup afterwards too !!The driveway looks great and I would recommend A&B for your paving job.

  We had a horrific experience when we hired A&B paving and are left with a disaster.In May 2022 A&B came to grade our driveway 2 weeks in advance of the asphalt. We were surprised to see large amounts of water accumulating with rain on the driveway in the days following that. We expressed concern that it wasnt properly graded but the A&B owner insisted it would be fine once asphalted.On May 26 the asphalt was applied and the A&B team left the property without doing a water test. We did a water test and it accumulated across the driveway. We also noted our interlock was damaged. We promptly called the owner of A&B and sent him pictures of the large accumulation of water. He acknowledged that he made a mistake with the grading. We expected it would need to be completely re done but we had very little confidence in A&B. We consulted other companies regarding the issues and they confirmed it was badly done.After 2 months of extreme water accumulation A&B returned to redo the driveway. The A&B owner was agitated and rude immediately on arrival and said he would not remove the entire driveway but would cut it in half and regrade. We insisted the whole driveway be re asphalted but the owner of A&B refused and began yelling its your driveway not your dining room table. We were shocked and concerned about the integrity and appearance of the driveway. He cut the driveway in half, poorly graded the lot AGAIN and dug a trench in our lawn to drain the water and then asphalted.Again left with his team before he could see the water piling up on the driveway. The exact same outcome with water accumulation plus defaced our driveway. We were left in complete shock. Also additional damage to our interlock.We have hired another company and they confirmed that the driveway was not graded properly by A&B and also that the asphalt needs to be completely replaced( not cut in pieces as A&B insisted on doing)The owner of A&B was dishonest, rude and unprofessional.
