    I called in today as I was not using the bar codes and assumed that my subscription will expire if I do not review. I did not know it was auto renewing itself these past years. I had a wonderful experience and want to thank Ade who assisted me and took care of the invoice. If we do get back to selling, I will definitely get back in touch with GS1. Thank you again!

    I have been a subscriber to GS1 Canada for 4 years in which I have used this company to produce my bar codes for my four products. I have not used GS1 in the passed 2 years to purchase any more barcodes. My problem is that GS1 wants to continue to charge me 169.00 per year for a service that I no longer use or require. I feel I am being held hostage to continue to pay this exorbitant amount. They call themselves a "not for profit" organization yet they do not disclose their financial statements to their "what they call subscribers", but in actuality, because they are a not-for-profit organization, it should be called "a membership" and be charged a membership fee, not a subscription fee. I do not want to keep paying this fee to GS1 since I no longer use their services. They are holding their subscribers hostage to paying these fees base on the size of their company. This practice needs to be stopped and the Consumer Protection ONT needs to get involved to stop GS1's ********* *** ******** ******* business practices.

    * *** *** ***** ***** ****** ** ****** ** I purchased 10 barcodes with the anticipation that I would launch a new line on ******* website. I instead listed on **** so never ever used the barcodes. When they sent me my annual renewal, I was dumbfounded that I had to pay again to keep the barcode active. I emailed them and said I never ever used the barcodes so please cancel. This continued every few months. I received numerous statements as well. I called and left a message on how to go about cancelling since they blocked my access to their website until I paid this new renewal invoice, and no one called or emailed me back EVER. I was also charged late fees. I thought they had finally cancelled my subscription, until I received a Collection letter as well! Well that was it, I had enough and threatened to make a formal complaint to the Better Business Bureau, as well as call the Ombudsmen to step in and get this resolved. They finally took my request to cancel my subscriptions seriously and responded to my emails. I had to just threw a lot of red tape to get this cancelled and the outstanding invoices credited back. I also want to let other small businesses know there are alternative companies that provide barcodes who are much easier to deal with and DO NOT charge you an annual fee to keep your barcodes active. ** *** *** **** ******* ** *** **** ** **** ******** **** ***** *** * *** ** **********
