    We came into contract with Solar X last year (July 2021). We have paid them $15,000 thus far for the engineering & installation of solar panels on our brand new steel garage. After several delays, installation of brackets in June 2022. July 2022, 3 installers arrived to install the panels and bars. Once they left our property, we noted that several (12+) of the screws to hold the panel rails had not been secured into the roof hoists. It was also noted at this time the screws are not the correct style for using on steel buildings. The screws they should have used seal with a washer to prevent water leaking in. The solar panels are now not secured from a strong wind, they will take flight like a kite in the wind, taking the roof sheets with them.
    My husband called the metal manufacture to see what could be done to correct this problem and was led to believe the engineers at the metal company did not suggest using unsecured wood to attach the secures to (such as was suggested by the installer after the fact).
    Our insurance company will void any damage to the roof or building due to the incorrect installation.
    So we have waited over a year for this service and now that the panels are installed incorrectly our investment in a 75 year roof is damaged beyond repair and the solar panels still are not hooked up!
    This does not mention the lack of professionalism that the installers exhibited. They arrived in a ***** ***** with a banged up front end, with all of their tools and a ladder. They unwrapped the ladder on site, did not use a harness or fall arrest while on the roof. Worked well passed dark, past 10pm to complete the install. Several times it was noted that the workers were reassuring us that they were almost done and showed pictures of the solar panels on the roof prior to packing themselves back into the tiny car to travel back to Toronto.

    Solar X has assured us that they want us to be 100% satisfied and that the damage will fall under the Workmanship warranty.
