Mr Lube on ***************** as well as other locations ****************** and and west. Have all been conducting a downright lying scam taking advantage of mainly women but all customers elderly and young.I have petitioned online and got feedback of past workers as well as hundreds of people that have been scammed by this company. My personal experience was on ***************** with my wife. Where she was downright lied and scammed out of money.First she was overcharged for an oil change. I was there one month ago and paid $113 they charged her $180. Same exact oil change and actually one less cord of oil.Where the true lie and scam is. They showed her a photo on a phone of a leaky oil pan saying that her oil was leaking and she needed to put additives for $100 in it to seal the leak. Which is a complete downright BS lie. She did not have a leak we park in the driveway and there's never been any oil leak. There is no additive that would seal a leak if there's a hole in an oil pan. Out of being embarrassed that she didn't know anything about cars she agreed to it. I then called was extremely upset and they lowered the cost to $40 extra. I then went in confronted them. After getting no resolution from the manager. I went online to find hundreds and hundreds of women like my wife getting taken advantage of lying to and scammed out of hundreds of dollars. It makes me sick to my stomach that this is happening. And I am making it my goal to do everything I can to stop it.

    Hey,

I looked into the customer this complaint is about and talked with the technician who worked on the car. Based on our procedure and his response, the price for oil change was given to the customer before starting any work on the car and customer agreed to the price. Due to the condition of old oil and leak from main seal(whose photo was shown to the customer), customer agreed to do engine flush. Whose price was also shown to the customer before using it and got the approval from the customer.

Customer also signed the invoice after the work was done and we have the proof for the same.

    So please close the complaint.

    Thank You.

    Have a good day.

I received an oil change and transmission service on May 27, 2023 around 3pm. I paid over $600 for these services to find out that I was misled into paying for products I didn't need and may cause damage to my vehicle in the coming months. I have attached the receipt here. I was not only told that had "no oil and it was completely dry" but that I had a transmission fluid leak as well. I was also told by Mr. Lube staff that the coolant (radiator) "fluid was bad and also needed changing" despite that not being a service that anywhere else offers and is not needed. The staff were incredibly pushy even when I had a mechanic on the phone to try and assist me through the process. It took me 4 attempts to decline the radiator service while alone in the face of 5 grown men who were not taking no for an answer. I attached a photo of the bill during services that I could see and it only contained the cost of the services, not all the additional product prices. After consulting my usual mechanic, I was informed that if I truly had no oil, my car would have either not run or would be making lots of noise which it was not. I also check my vehicle fluid levels monthly and did not have a low oil light on to indicate I needed to have this serviced nor did have a leak severe enough to be empty. The dip stick that I was shown looked wiped clean and not actually used (or dipped back in to check for the proper levels). They said they would "add sealant to fix the leaks" which I was later informed by a knowledgeable mechanic was not needed and would at best be a bandaid for the "issue" (that was clearly not an issue) and at worse cause damage to my vehicle by increasing the odds the my gaskets fail and I have a severe leak. I was not informed about the conditioner they put in my car and paid for. Nor was I informed that the sealants would be extra in addition to the cost of service for the transmission change. The staff were not only incredibly pushy but used scare tactics to convince me I needed services I did not and failed to fully explain was services I was receiving even when I asked for clarification. I put trust into these staff only and was extremely intimidated through the entire process and spent at least $200 more than I needed to. I did call the manager to file a complaint and request a refund. I spoke to another staff at head office along with a manager at another location. However I was informed that nothing they did was illegal, I willfully paid, and they could not and would not issue a refund of any kind. Despite the fact that they used products not recommended by the manufacturer of my car (the sealants), used intimidation tactics to sell me products I didn't need, and preyed on the fact that I was young, alone and not knowledge about the car repairs. I did call corporate to leave a voicemail complaint as well and haven't heard back. I would like a refund of at least $150 from this Mr. Lube location along with an apology for their predatory practices.

Transaction occurred May 17, 2023 at Mr. Lube on Walker Rd Windsor, ON. My son went in for an oil change and brake fluid top up. He was upsold every possible service and upgrade unknowingly. They assured him he needed new spark plugs, a transmission fluid flush, as well as several other services- fear inducing. The vehicle is a **** **** ***** **** ****** *** that has been regularly maintained. According to records, spark plugs should last up to 160, 000kms, transmission up to 160,000 kms before it needs to be flushed etc. This is a disgusting way to do business. I am willing to pay for the oil change and the brake fluid but want to be reimbursed for the rest. Total bill was $1058.71.
