3 starsI'm very disappointed in my customer service experience with **********************. Upon arrival my daughter and I was disregarded for a long period of time. Then we were persuaded into purchasing a true because physically I would not be able access the drivers seat daily. I began to ask for assistance for error codes that began popping up on my dash within 2 to 3 days of leaving the lot. When trying to get repair and service thru my warranty I was given the run around. In conclusion my vehicle was not rightfully serviced and I also was charged ******. Even though my service should have been covered and I do believe accordingly to my warranty it was. I was sent home with a truck that isn't functioning properly. Thank you for your time ****** ****Review fromJeremy L

Sold car. Got lied to. Told we could pick up check on a certain day and then when we showed up to get it suddenly it was supposed to be common sense that it takes longer and they made us feel bad for being upset about being lied to. Specifics are we sold car on Friday and were told to pick up check Monday. Show up Monday and suddenly its not their problem because its apparently common knowledge it takes 7-10 business days. When we showed signs of being upset the manager ***** tried to act as though we were being ridiculous. Also when I called to check on everything he told me he didnt have to speak to me as I wasnt on the title. I then called the bank and confirmed I am on the title and when I presented this information to him he again resorted to telling me Im being ridiculous pretty much instead of admitting their wrongs and actually attempting to save future business (my next car was originally going to be bought here) AND IM IN THE ***** ***** ??Serra Kia

Thanks for the review. We try to satisfy all of our customers.
We had spoken and gotten you both the check requested based on the customer statements and also an apology from Mr. ***** regarding his conversation with you.
We are not sure if that was before or after this complaint was made.

I understand that I have a complaint and a possible solution regarding unethical business practices at Serra Kia 630 ************* Gardendale, ******* *****. My name is ***************************. On January 6, ****, I visited the dealership and stated multiple times on the phone and inside the facility that I were only looking and waiting for my settlement money. I had previously purchased a car from them in cash in 2021 and were only browsing . I was NOT interested in purchasing a car that day. However, I was sold a car and when i tried to return the car, the store *********************, said that the car was mine and i couldn't return it. The same Manager that called me several times to come check out what we have on the lot and i expressed my voiced several times saying **** i am just looking. He was not so nice very rude and pretty much said i signed and the car is mine and there is nothing he can do.....$670 Car note $349 ************* for a *** because i only said i really like my *** that i paid cash for ...never knowing that i purchased a *** that i cant afford and no insurance company will touch full coverage... I have several jobs i had on my badge Jan.06, **** i said that I, *************************** planned to purchase the car in cash when i had the funds. I feel that my morals have been violated by their unethical practices. I was reassured that when i got my settlement that i could renegotiate the terms and when i tried to return the car several days i stated these facts that i thought was true for the store manager to say to me the car is yours is nothing i can do.Serra Kia

I have reviewed the recording of ******************** purchase. She was told her payment when signing the paperwork. She also signed the acknowledgement on her contract that there is no cooling off period when purchasing a vehicle, which means that the contract is binding and the vehicle is unable to be returned.Review fromDeMarlo N

This dealership sold me an Infiniti QX 80 that malfunctioned the same day I bought it. I returned it two days later as instructed by Kasey Croft. They kept the vehicle an entire week and did nothing to fix it. ***************************** told me that the fan runs loud when it is cold. After the vehicle continued to make the loud noise and driving like I was in the wrong gear, I called ***** in the ******************* ***** informed me that I should take my vehicle to the Infiniti Dealership because Serra Kia in Gardendale does not have the proper equipment to diagnose an infiniti. I cant understand why they would keep my vehicle an entire week knowing that they could not diagnose nor fix the issue. I took my vehicle to the Infiniti Dealership and they immediately found that the torque converter was malfunctioning as well as the fan. I was told by ***************************** that a loner would be available to me but when the Infiniti Shuttle dropped me off at Serra Kia Gardendale of course there was a hassle which I was expecting. All of the sales team was standing around look oblivious at the front of the dealership. I told ************************* that I just dropped my vehicle off at ********************** and that I came to pick up a loaner. ************************* told me that her husband would be the one that I needed to talk to since he sold me that vehicle. *****************************, her Husband was out on a test drive. When ***************************** arrived back at the dealership, he walked over me as if he did not even see me. I sat there for over an hour before I went and asked to consult with a manager. ************** came out and was very unhelpful. He took my warranty paperwork at went to the back and never returned. I sat for another ****************************************************************************** At this point, ************************* came to the front and told me to come to service. I walked down to the service area and ************************* immediately began to yell at me.Serra Kia

***************** we appreciate your feedback. Your vehicle was kept for an entire week because we were trying to diagnose an issue that you claimed to have - one that we could not replicate. Since we could not identify the issue, we agree that taking your vehicle to an Infinity dealership was probably the best solution. Some manufacturers have specialized tools and/or programs geared only toward their vehicles, as is the case with our own manufacturer.
The General Manager would like to extend his apology that the frustration at the lack of communication amongst his employees made you feel as if it were directed at you. That was not the case and these employees will be walked back through our training processes.
We were able to put you in a loaner vehicle while your vehicle is being repaired at another dealership, although we did not have to. We have recognized that we need to address some flaws within our employee communication, however despite those issues, we have sincerely attempted to make your purchasing experience with Serra Kia of Gardendale a positive one.

I purchased a car from this dealership and within a year, it broke down. When I contacted the dealership, they informed me that there was no warranty and they wouldn't do anything to help me. I'm extremely disappointed with the way they handled the situation, as I would expect a dealership to stand behind the cars they sell. It's frustrating to have spent a significant amount of money on a vehicle only to have it break down so soon after purchase, and to receive no assistance from the dealership. I cannot recommend this dealership to anyone looking to purchase a car.Serra Kia

1 starBUYER BEWARE. Sold me a vehicle which needed more than $12,000 in mechanical repair, including a new engine. GM blamed my mechanic for this issues. Turn out the service records signed off of from this SAME GM indicated a not only an acknowledgment by service and himself, but that he DECLINED to fix anything. Serra Gardendale then sold me the vehicle at a market price for a fully mechanically functioning vehicle with zero disclosure. Not only was the BAD business, but they are refusing to take any ownership of their PURE NEGLIGENCE. Service records dont lie. This was sold to me this way on purpose. How do these people sleep at night knowing they have robbed me of not only my money, but also put me in a terribly dangerous situation!Review fromJohn B

I bought a 2014 Jeep Wrangler from Serra Kia (Gardendale) on Saturday, March 25, 2023. On Monday, March 27, I took it to my mechanic, who I've been using for almost 20 years, for an inspection. My mechanic had to replace the radiator because it had a hole in it, along with the radiator hose. Additionally, the oil filter housing had a crack in it and needed to replaced, along with other belts, parts and fluids. My mechanic bill was over $2200 because the warranty that the dealership "sold" me didn't cover any of the parts or service. I contacted the dealership's sales manager and advised him of the issues that my mechanic had to fix and he said it was not his problem. I drove the Jeep periodically for less than 2 weeks when I noticed that it was losing power and making a loud "ticking" sound. I took it back to my mechanic and he advised me to contact the dealership. When I spoke to the service manager at Serra, he advised me that I needed to take it to a certified Jeep dealership/mechanic. I contacted the sales manager at Serra and advised him that I had to take the Jeep back to the mechanic and he told me, again, that it was not Serra's problem. After the certified Jeep dealership mechanic performed a safety inspection on the Jeep, I was advised that the Jeep "threw a rod", was not safe to drive, and needed a new engine. He also advised me that when he contacted the warranty company to advise them of the issue(s) he found, he was told that the warranty was void because someone must have driven the vehicle to the point where it overheated. I have had the Jeep for less than 5 weeks and it has been in the shop for 21 days. I have driven it barely over 500 miles and most of that was driving it to/from the mechanic and dealership. Serra refuses to take responsibility of selling me an unsafe vehicle and refuses to reimburse me for mechanic bills, "add ons" that they charged me for but did not put on the Jeep, or the warranty that is useless.Serra Kia

Thank you **** for your feedback. Unfortunately, due to the high probability of your mechanic improperly installing routine maintenance equipment, we will not be able to help in this instance. It should be noted that our customers regularly ask to take vehicles to mechanics BEFORE purchase and we oblige. It is the buyers right and we encourage third party inspections, especially on 9 year old vehicles with over ******* miles such as the one you purchased. Most of the parts your mechanic recommended would be considered maintenance items, and unfortunately, warranty does not cover maintenance items. Often, the dealership will help our customers when problems arise through discounts on our labor or parts, even when they buy a vehicle AS IS, as you did. Unfortunately, with your mechanic changing coolant parts directly related to the cooling system of the vehicle...and then the vehicle overheating, we will not be able to consider helping in this instance.Review fromSS S

I went in with preapproval from ************ I told them *********** ONLY. I repeatedly told them that when they pushed at me to shop around and they shopped my loan anyway. The salesman told me I was getting a *********** loan. The terms were fine. Then when I go to signthe warranty guy (*****) threw my income in my face when I refused extended warranties on a NEW CAR with only 36 miles on it. Insinuating I can afford nonsense warranties. He was very rude to me when I ****** my ground and took them off. Then when it was time to sign theyd financed me through Kia ******** Not ************ They dented my credit score with credit checks I did not approve. I will never even visit this lot again. They seemingly take advantage of women who have no choice but to shop alone.Serra Kia

Thank you for your feedback. We have reviewed the issues you have presented in the complaint. We take every complaint seriously and review and investigate each instance.
In the specific situation you had mentioned, regarding the *********** vs Kia ************* dealership made every effort...including a recorded phone call to *********** to help you obtain and use your pre approval. ************* *********** wanted additional cash as a downpayment from you to approve you for the vehicle you selected, whereas ************* did not. It is our understanding that you were presented with the additional downpayment opportunity but stated that there was no additional cash that you wanted to contribute to go with the *********** approval, so the dealership and you agreed to use the Kia ************************ regards to the way that you were made to feel regarding the purchasing of additional products in the Business Office. It is the dealership goal to ensure that every customer is offered the opportunity to protect their investment. When they decline those additional options that were not pre installed on the vehicle, there should be no change in demeanor to the business office manager. We have reviewed the video and the change in demeanor is noticeable. We have spoken with your business manager and reviewed the video together, using the video as a coaching moment to ensure that customers do not feel a change in the way that they are treated due to declination of offered additional products.
Thank you again for your feedback.
