In January of 2024, I had a tractor taken to the location in Marianna AR. It was my Father in laws tractor who had passed away and we were wanting to get it fixed. It did not run and we asked them what it would cost to get it fixed. The service manger ******* quoted me a price of $8000-9000. I asked him if it would be worth fixing and he told me it would be fixed and work for that price. In April they called me and told me it was fixed and told me the total was $12,900. I asked him why he did not call me and tell me that it was such a big difference and he told me it was just a few more things wrong but he told me it was completely fixed. I paid him the amount and they brought me the tractor. I got to work on it for a total of one hour before it started to squeal and then stopped. I called them back and he got very rude with me. I then spoke with the home office and they came and got it and took it back. In September I called them back and they said it was fixed. The finally brought it back I was able to move it around, but the next time I went to drive it, it would not start. I called them back and they came out and said they would not cover the problem and quoted me another $1000. We asked to have a meeting with them this morning and they said they only told me in the beginning that they could only get it to move and they would never had advised us to sink that amount of money into an old tractor and we only asked them to get it to move for sentimental reasons. We feel that they over charged us and then did not back up their original agreement. We would like our money back at this point.

      Business Response

      Date: 10/24/2024

See details below on the issue involving this customer complaint:
The customer called the service department asking for advice on his tractor for the issue of not moving. It was then hauled into the location in 3 pieces and the customer stated that it had been setting up for some time.
After diagnostics it was found that the transmission and pump needed to be replaced, and parts alone were going to be $8400.
The service manager called and let the customer know the amount and customer asked if it was worth putting that much money in this machine. The service manager said he would be better off putting that money towards a different machine. Customer stated that the tractor was his father in Law’s and had sentimental value to the family.
He agreed to fix the repair for tractor not moving. He did not ask for an inspection on the tractor.  The tractor cranked and ran fine during its time here with zero cranking issues.
During the time here, we flushed the hydraulic system several times, as there was sludge all through the system. This was communicated to customer as well.
The tractor was delivered to the customer in working order and there were no leaks. After running the tractor for some time, he called and complained that the cylinders on the loader were leaking on the machine. He complained at this time that it was our fault, however our shop never touched the loader except to install back on the tractor.
We repaired all 4 cylinders on the loader at no cost to the customer to help this customer. During this time frame, the customer was encouraged to consider changing fuel filter and flushing fuel system.
Customer then called after it was delivered the second time and complained that the tractor would not start after using for some time again.
The service manager and Location Manager went to the customer’s location to look at the tractor for an issue. At this time, we found that the customer had never put fresh fuel in the machine or serviced it as advised. The fuel filter was plugged from all the trash in the tank. We have photos and videos of the filters and fuel. We changed the fuel filter for the customer and the machine would crank and run when we left. The customer was given a quote on flushing the fuel system with no response.
The hour meter on this machine does not work, so there is no way of stating how many hours the customer has run this machine.
