Called in an issue with my water heater on September 7, 2024. It took IKMAR plumbing until September 11th to come out and take a look at the problem. They could not resolve the problem and stated they needed to order a part. They ordered the part and came out and changed the part on September 18th, 2024. This did not fix the issue. Called them back and they advised they would be back on September 20th. They did not show up and will not answer calls. Three weeks without hot water.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns about the issue you faced with your water heater. We understand how frustrating and inconvenient it must be to go without hot water for an extended period of time.

Working with home warranty is a multifaceted process that not only involves the diagnosis and repair of the problem, but also getting necessary approvals and ordering the required parts. We, at IKMAR plumbing, unfortunately do not have control over the coverage determination or the arrival time of necessary parts. This operation and the time it takes can sometimes be longer than any of us would prefer.

However, we strive to provide the best service to our clients and we prioritize a quick response time in our efforts to rectify any issues our clients may face. I assure you that we are doing everything within our ability to speed up the process and sort out your water heater issues swiftly.

We deeply regret any inconvenience caused by the long wait time. Your patience and understanding in this matter are highly appreciated.

This company was contracted by OneGuard Home Warranty to replace our hot water heater. They told the home warranty company that all new lines needed to be ran and our out of pocket would be $470. I called Ikmar and they claimed due to liability reasons they had to replace them. I told them we didnt need a new drain and they deducted $60 from the bill. My father has owned a plumbing business for 50 years and says running new lines is NOT required! However, in order for our home warranty company to pay for the hot water heater we were forced to use them. Ikmar made us pay the out of pocket before they would even come out. They switched out our metal pan and tried to replace it with a cheap plastic one. Then didn't install the sediment trap we paid for. We called them out on it before they left and made them put our pan back and install the trap. Bottom line they are a dishonest company for charging for unnecessary repairs. The new line ran is excessively large and sticks out 6" from the water heater.

hope this response finds you well. I wanted to personally reach out to address the concerns you have raised about your recent hot water heater replacement experience.

Our company's aim has always been to provide optimal services to our clients. When it comes to replacing hot water heaters, our protocol has always been to recommend substitute all parts that work in conjunction with the Home Warranty. This practice is simply to ensure the longevity and the proper function of the heater, it is not intended to charge homeowners for unnecessary procedures. Regrettably, we do not determine what is and isn't covered by the Home Warranty, as it entirely depends on the specifics of your plan.

Having said that, we absolutely sympathize with your feedback and understand why you felt the need to express your concerns. We value your opinion and if we have inadvertently caused you any inconvenience, we sincerely apologize.

Ikmar Plumbing is operating as a water mitigation company called *************** and asbestos. They have no contractors license to do the work they are doing and do not give a contract or even return calls. This fraudulent and does not provide the service their website states. they are now trying to collect a debt without even giving us a bill for the charges and actually sent a bill for another customer who is not me.

this work happened on 12/8/23. this is a plumping compony that was subcontracted through Cinch Home Warrantee. The warrantee company had approved replacement of the water heater. Ikmar plumbing company is making me pay for all new metal hoses, connectors, and fittings that go into and out of the water heater. these are brand new fittings, connections and hoses as of 1 year ago. the are extorting me that if i dont pay for these to be replaced, they will not install the new water heater. i have not had a working water heater in 2 weeks so i am forced to pay this to have my water heater installed. i dont think this is fair, if the fittings were all old and warn and needed replacement, i would understand. This in not the case. as you can see in the photos, these are all in perfect shape, and do not need replacing.

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns with us. We understand your frustration and would like to provide clarity on the issue.

As per our company policy, we highly recommend the replacement of all lines and connections whenever we undertake a water heater replacement. This approach is driven by our commitment to ensuring the safety and longevity of the newly installed unit. We believe that every component of the installation must meet the highest performance and safety standards, hence the necessity for the replacements.

We empathize with the discomfort and inconvenience you have experienced without a functioning water heater for two weeks.

However, we want to assure you that our practice is not intended as a tactic to charge extra. Our charges merely cover the cost of the unit replacement, and we do not have discretion in determining coverage. The Home Warranty policy is responsible for this decision.

first off, this was over a year ago now. second these fitting had just been replaced about 8 months prior as you can see by the pics i submitted. i think its wrong to extort someone and tell them we will not install your unit unless you change these fittings out. i could have bought my own water heater and installed it for less money than they charged me to change the lines. all the lined and fittings would have only cost around $100.00. i believe i was charged almost ******. this is bad business

As previously mentioned, Per  company policy for water heater installs all lines are recommended to be replaced, unfortunately in this case the lines  were not covered by your home warranty, We ensure this as a precautionary measure, to ensure the longevity and efficient functioning of your new equipment. This practice is standard across our services to guarantee the quality and safety of our work.

We apologize if this has caused any inconvenience. The pricing of these components is calculated at a flat rate .  Coverage is determined by the home warranty, varies from plan .

To our knowledge, home warranties offer different options to customers regarding our recommendations when we submit the report. It is ultimately the decision of the customer if they wish to proceed with our company's services and adhere to our recommendations.

We appreciate your understanding and we are here to answer any more questions or concerns that you might have.

Plumbing service contractor sent by my home warranty *** to replace toilet. 5 wk ordeal. Dishonest contractor that did not install the item promised. The replacement was of such poor quality-brand has been subject to recalls & multiple class action settlemts as defective. Seat did not fit bowl, and it had a chip on the top. It appeared that they thought they could unload a piece of junk on us & that we wouldnt notice. Then the actual install was also badly botched. The repairman (very nice, but non-English speaking) and obviously not a certified plumber even close by the work done! The toilet was loose so it bangs into wall if you touch it-will damage drywall-so unusable. Did not seal around toilet-left 1 wooden flooring exposed. Tore 6 tear in linoleum (did not report or fix). Many calls, emails to ***************** warranty company. No responsibility-Ikmar offered to replace their defective toilet with the kind they offered initially (like the other 2 we have already) for $600 + $150 install. Toilet advertised @ Lowes for $240 & we already paid service fee for installation. More lies, more calls. Finally gave up & purchased our own ( 3 wk sale over-paid $280 + tax) hauled it ourselves-125 lbs in 118 degree heat by husband. Forced to use same contractor to reinstall. This time it was the manager (same person that came initially & lied to us) during the re-install he tore ANOTHER 18 circ. tear in front on toilet-caulked part of it & left 6 open -did not report it to us, or apologize & continued to lie about what had occurred & never accepted any responsibility for anything!/A complete fail in every possible way-dishonest, irresponsible, 2 service calls & 2 damage incidents with zero accountability. I do not want to hear from this contractor-they have my address to send apology & check. I do not believe anything they say nor do I expect they will do anything. I will be pursuing small claims otherwise. I consider that a public service-they need consequences!

I am sincerely sorry for the numerous issues you've experienced regarding the recent plumbing service at your home. It's clear from your email that our service didn't meet your expectations, or our own high standards. Please accept our deepest apologies for the inconvenience this has caused you and your family.

If you do still wish to come to a settlement reach out to me at our office **************

      Customer Answer

This apology is pretty late in coming-since this occurred quite some time ago....and this business has had plenty of chances to do the right thing! If this business owner was serious about this offer of some kind of settlement offer- they would have included their name with their offer. As I recall, this office rarely returned calls or cares to run a legit plumbing company. If they want to make a settlement offer they need to do better. My linoleum floor is STILL torn (about *****") and I paid full price for a toilet that was supposed to be replaced by this plumbing company for the $65 service call....instead I had no working toilet in my bedroom for weeks, was majorly hassled, and was majorly jerked around by this plumbing company. They have my contact information, I have the same address, phone number etc....no one has ever called or offered ANYTHING! They just want me to withdraw my complaint on this site....NOPE. Send me a letter of apology, and a check for the cost of the new toilet, and a new floor in my bathroom that your service manager & his poorly trained assistant damaged not once (BUT TWICE). All the costs I incurred (other than the floor was included in my complaint). The service manager saw the floor damage-he did not accept responsibility or offer a fix-unless you consider further damaging it far worse as a repair!

I am Sorry to hear about the issues that happened in your home. We do not get pick your toilet for a home warranty job. the toilet is set to be a builder's standard which is what your home warranty pays for. We have no control over that matter. Whenever you remove a toilet over vinyl that has been there for years the caulking can pull the vinyl causing it to break as it shown in the pictures you submitted. That would not be an installation error (the tech has to pull the toilet to install the new one) it's just the vinyl was old and in bad condition. i would very much like to come to a reasonable agreement, i cannot pay for your new toilet because we installed what we were paid to install. The flooring would have been damaged regardless of the plumbing company because it is old and would have been pulled the same by another plumber. I can return to you your only payment to us which would be the 65$ service call fee. I am sorry for the situation and would like to make things right. Please let me know if this works for you.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 01/20/2025

      Dear BBB,

I absolutely DO NOT accept this ridiculous offer of $65!!! It's an insult frankly. First of all the  "excuses" given in the response as reasons for the damage done is totally NOT valid. We had the 2 other toilets replaced previously-downstairs & other bathrm  within 2 years of their mishandled installation. SAME linoleum & there was no damage done. No tearing, no caulking-there was none. You could not see any evidence of the installation at all! The reason the flooring was damaged is bc they sent an unskilled laborer (who was barely in his early 20's if that, spoke no English) obviously hired for very little & the work he did showed that!  The warranty company said a skilled plumber would be installing this toilet-just like the other ones were. They are still take zero responsibility for the costs we incurred with their awful repair/installation-which should be called DIS-repair, and the damage they caused. On top of the hours I spent personally trying to get them to finish the job!  As to the type of toilet installed, and their lame excuse... I reiterate-their service manager gave us the name brand/and model type (to match the old toilet/and the other 2 toilets in the home) when he came to our home for the original estimate.  What was installed was a piece of junk (wasn't even parts from the same toilet), it was mixed-and matched. ** the seat did not even fix the bowl & was a defective product. This company is a scam & needs to be held accountable, and should be called out for their shoddy workmanship & their abject dishonesty.  This is not about the money-it is absolutely about what they did, and how they behaved,  Companies like this continue to rip people off with no accountability just do business as usual with no change in their behavior....sorry, not okay. I guess my next step is to take legal action.
