1 starGet a competing bid! My wife called A1 Garage Door Service to fix the spring on our garage door. The service technician was very personable and seemingly very helpful. However, we were charged twice what their competitor, M&M Garage Doors LLC, quoted us for the same service. In addition, A1 Garage Door Service evaluated the remaining parts on our garage door and determined that they were close to failure and all needed to be replaced, which was going to be another $1,000 or so of additional cost. Fortunately, they were willing to roll the cost of all that overpriced service into the price of a whole new door and finance it at 0% interest for 12 months but only if we agreed to purchase the new garage door that day. Thankfully Michigan law requires customers be given a ***** cancellation window. The next day we called M&M Garage Doors LLC and they sent someone out the same day to provide a competing bid. Not only were the remaining parts not failing (only 10 years of ordinary ************ but the price M&M Garage Doors LLC would have charged us for the same, brand new garage door was HALF what A1 Garage Door Service was going to charge. In short, A1 Garage Door Service engaged in high pressure sales tactics and provided wildly overpriced service.Review fromHannah P

This company is a scam. How they have an A+ rating on BBB is beyond me with 3 star rating. They scam people and are really good at it. Im not knowledgeable about garage doors and my tech definitely took advantage of that. Quoted me 2500 just for a new motor and springs & 4k for a basic, generic door LOL. I got all of the work done, perfectly with everything he told me about, for literally 3k. Under half the price. When I called him out he said youre comparing apples to oranges? Its the same exact product. They arent getting springs made of gold theyre just scamming people & pretending theyre super knowledgeable. ***** this company.

I wish I could give zero stars. Their cancellation policy claims you can cancel within three business days, but they make that nearly impossible. The email address they provided doesn't work, and every time I try to call customer **********************, I'm sent to voicemail with no return call. The only other option they give is to send a physical letterseriously? As if mail would be delivered, opened, and processed within that short window.Because of this, it looks like Im out roughly $1,300. It's incredibly frustrating and feels like a setup. I could write a book about everything Ive been through with this company, but the most disturbing part is how they take advantage of veterans. Thats not just poor businessit's predatory. 1 starI called for a free estimate for a door and install. He spent 10 minutes and closed the door for us. Then promised if we paid ****** it will be deducted from our installment of door. ***** this company at all cost. I called this company because they are known to be reputable but that must mean nothing to them because they totally ripped us off. I was quoted $1800 to change springs I called seven different companies. The next closest was 1200. I called them out on it and they just listed the price of the items which you can go on ****** and see they severely overcharged me for everything. They fixed the issue but I was severely overcharged like most other people have reported. Quoted nearly $4k to replace bearing and springs on 2 doors and I was pressured into signing at the time of quote. I am a young female first time home owner who called a company I thought was reputable, honest and fair. I wish I wouldve gotten other quotes and saved myself thousands of dollars and my dignity. Even though the work was completed nearly 2 years ago I am writing this now because Ive seen others report and share their similar experience. I cant believe I fell for this companies sales tactics and wish I would have been able to tak the time to do some price compairisons I contacted A1 soley because of their advertisements on the local channels. I assumed that they would have very competitive pricing and great service based on the speil they talked about on the comericals, Boy was I incorrect in my assumptions. This company is out to make as much money as they can off of people that are'nt aware of their overpriced products, and, on the job additional sales pitches. When I tried to leave for work I discoveded the spring on my door had broke. I called A1 to find out if I could get a service call to replace a garage door torsion spring. They said that they could have someone come out later that afternoon. Great I thought, my wifes car is in the garage theres no way she's going to be able to open the door open and she's got appointments to ge to that afternoon. Set up the appointment and let her know that it was taken care of. Long story short I ended up paying over $2000.00 for 2 springs and 3 bearings to get the door up and running again.All the time my wife kept telling me to call other companies and check their prices. No I said, I'm sure their all around the same price, and he's here right now. Big Mistake!!! After it was all done i kept having a feeling about the tranaction. The next day I decided to call around, picked 10 other door companies in my area and got quotes from a little over $200 to $500 for the most expensive price. After that shock I decided to check prices of parts and was realy blown away best prices for replacement springs went for $40 up to $167 for the most expensive I could find. New set of bearings were only $8 bucks each.I felt so ripped off !!! I thought how could a company be so greedy. If I hadn't been so rushed I would have never done business with this Company. 1 starClassic example of a female senior citizen being taken advantage! A-1 has obviously trained their staff to smooth talk in order to ***** the customers financially with the cost of repairs. With my car stuck in the garage that had one broken spring and no way to open it, ***** explained that 2 springs would need replaced along with 2 cables and gave me a quote of $1900+. Exorbitant pricing to say the least, but I felt trapped knowing I could not get my car out. I signed the contract and after starting the work, ***** approached me with additional costs for bearings. I let him know I felt I was being taken advantage of. He responded that he removed some charges from the original quote so with the added bearings, the bill would "only" be $2000+. Funny, how he was able to remove some charges, yet still milk me for an additional $100! I looked all of these parts up online and in choosing the most expensive prices I could find, I only came up with no more than $400 in parts. Looks like I paid over $1600 for 1.5 to 2 hours labor. What a scam! I will never call A-1 again for repairs. AND I HAVEN'T EVEN BEEN PROVIDED WITH A RECEIPT OR ITEMIZED INVOICE FOR THE $2000 REPAIR BILL THAT I PAID!!
