My garage door would not go down unless I held the wall remote button down and held it. I thought it was the sensors but was told that I needed a new motor. They installed it and charged me $1500. After they installed they told me that the springs needed to be replaced or the new motor would burn out. They should have told me BEFORE replacing my motor. I am furious! They are shady and just want to keep charging you money. Terrible company. Wish I had read the reviews before calling.A1 Garage Door Service

A-1 service techs vs the salesman I got. Take your time, explore your options, and do your research, and find someone else - I should have. I went from a $70 diagnostic call to a entire replacement cost of $8700.00 that wasn't needed.I had A1 (****) come out to diagnose a garage door sensor problem on 3/22/25. $70 diagnostic fee to show up. $170 Service fee to replace the sensors. After new sensors wouldn't work, I was advised that I would need a new motor and was presented with two options. I elected to go with the $2000 (which is a 300% mark up) model because it had LED lighting and a garage camera - fancy.**** had removed the previous garage contractor sticker on my wall - a company that had replaced my springs 5 years prior. **** sold me on the idea that I needed new springs - weighing the door as it was disengaged from the track. It reminded me of a vacuum salesman with a gimmick. While I disagreed, knowing full well that my springs were replaced 5 years prior. I took the bait &shouldn't have.**** replaced the springs and indicated that the bearings between the springs would likely need to be replaced as well; but wouldn't know until he replaced the springs. Replacement bearings would cost "a couple hundred dollars as well". I was never shown damage to any springs or bearings. After installing $900 springs, he again showed me the garage door weight gimmick. This time, I noticed the door was locked on the track (it wasn't during his previous performance). There was daylight between his scale and the bottom of the garage door. Well, no kidding - the garage door was locked onto the track - it wasn't before. I felt like an idiot, so I didn't say anything. The only thing I needed at the time of the call was my sensors to work. They didn't work because the mother board on the motor was fried. Replacing the motor was all that needed to be done - nothing else. Everything else (the springs, the door, the bearings) was unnecessary.A1 Garage Door Service

Had them out to perform maintenance and inspection. The garage sounded like it was breaking when opening. Charged 300 dollars for so called maintenance and said noise was due to type of opener. Few months later and today the spring broke. Had a new company come out on a Friday evening, replace spring and mentioned rollers on the door needing replaced. Total charge 500 dollars and door sounds brand new. A-1 is out for money and not service. Would not recommend to anyone, especiallyA1 Garage Door Service

Spring broke in garage door so I called the number on sticker on the door. Long story short the charged me $1554.84 for two springs .262 x 2" X 51" and two 7 ft cables. I later looked online cause that to my thinking was way to much. I found a company and oriced out two springs with bigger wire .272 x 2" x 51" and two 7ft cables for a little under $500. A1 is way over priced and the try to upsell you on everything. This amounts to price gouging and they should be stoppedA1 Garage Door Service

If you're a senior citizen you sure don't want to do any business with A1 Garage ************ they will make you feel like you have been hustled and scammed when everything is all through. They have enormous pricing for their work I paid over $1,600 for replacing a torsion spring assembly on my 8-ft garage door. That work and parts should have cost me between $600 and $700. I had *** as my technician, he was sociable enough and polite enough but I don't think he was honest about my problems. I now think he knew he was overstating my problems with my garage door but he went ahead anyway and reported other problems that I said no to. I have since had another garage door company come out and look at my problems and they said I didn't need to do anything.I know that part of it may be my problem because I didn't check reviews for A1 Garage ************. I only went on a sticker from years ago on my garage door and a TV commercial on my TV for garage tune-**** I now feel like I was truly scammed.A1 Garage Door Service

I called A-1 Garage Door to come out and look at my garage door because it all of a sudden stopped opening. This should have been a maximum fix of $600 and A-1 ended up charging us $1,600! We were completely gouged by these cheaters! DO NOT USE THEM!!! I called other garage door places and showed them the bill and they were all shocked! A-1 trains their employees to upcharge and "sell" the clients with bogus lifetime warranty promises that don't transfer. I asked the woman at A-1 that if I sold my house would the lifetime warranty transfer to the new owner and she said "no"...therefore it is NOT a lifetime warranty plan! There is absolutely no reason they should have charged us that much for the work that was done! They were here to give a full inspection of the door and its mechanisms, and they didn't even notice that the cover to the keypad was broken. At $1,600 I think they could have replaced the keypad...all they did was replace the springs (each spring was $580 for a total of $1,160) what, are they gold plated?! When I spoke with other garage door places, they ALL told me that springs would NOT cost that much! All I can say is DO NOT USE THEM!!! If they ***** all of their customers this way, then I don't know how they're even still in business!!! Do your homework before hiring these guys for your garage door needs!!!A1 Garage Door Service

I called A1 Garage Door Service for a minor garage issue where my door was not fully opening. I was provided a $29.99 special tune up rate. Technician **** *** arrived and quoted me $170 for a tune up and handed me his blank iPad to sign on the line. I advised him I was quoted $29.99 online so he agreed to accept $29.99. The tech proceeded to disassemble the components of my garage door and said I needed a new opener, pullies, torsion spring, torsion shaft, cables and bracket and handed me his blank iPad to sign on the line. I refused and agreed to accept replacing the pullies (he said one was cracked), tension spring (simply because it was old) and without seeing an estimate signed his iPad. He later said I needed a bracket (door did not have) which I agreed. I signed his iPad again. When the work was completed, I was never provided a bill or receipt but was told I owed $842.14! Nial continued saying that my garage door still didn't work properly and that I needed a new opener! I could have had a new garage door opener for less than $842.14. I was upset and told him I got scammed. Nial said nothing. I feel violated and taken advantage of and would like my money back.A1 Garage Door Service

We recently had an extremely negative experience with A1 Garage Door Service, and we feel compelled to share our story to help others avoid the same unfortunate situation. Our encounter with this company was marked by unprofessionalism, misleading practices, and aggressive upselling tactics. We arranged service for a rental property, but from the outset, we encountered issues. First, the company refused to provide any form of approximate estimate for common repairs. Instead, they insisted that only a representative could offer a true estimate by physically inspecting the property.Once they arrived, the technician placed us in an awkward position, inflating the prices considerably. However, the initial price quote wasnt even the final amount. After disassembling the door, they called us back to push for additional repairs and parts that werent needed, essentially upselling more services. In the end, we were charged $1,017 for repairs that had cost us only $300 just a few months earlier from a reputable ********** make matters worse, once the technician finished the repair, which took about 30 minutes, he informed us that he would not leave the property until we made a full paymentright then and there. This left us in an uncomfortable situation, as we had to pull our car off the highway to make the payment immediately, under pressure.Regrettably, we were misled by their promises of competitive pricing and great discounts, which ultimately proved to be false. The company, including the technician, was very pushy and used scare tactics, even threatening us with liability issues. We deeply regret hiring this company and will never use their services again, nor would we recommend them to anyone. After the fact, we discovered numerous negative reviews about this company on platforms such as ****, Angies List, and the Better Business Bureau. We sincerely wish we had checked their reputation beforehand. We hope our experience serves as a cautionary tale for others.A1 Garage Door Service

Dear Client Experience Manager,I am deeply surprised by your reference to the positive reviews of your service, as my experience has been quite the opposite. Upon reviewing feedback from Yelp and the Better Business Bureau, I have found a significant number of complaints that mirror my own. Many customers have reported similar issues, including inflated prices and recommendations for unnecessary repairs. Based on these accounts and my own experience, we share the same belief that your company lacks transparency and honesty.Specifically, your technician overcharged us by $700, which is far higher than any other garage door service provider would charge for the same repairs. It is clear that your technician used high-pressure sales tactics, putting us in an uncomfortable position. As a result, we are extremely dissatisfied with the service provided.Given our experience, we will not be using your services again, nor would we recommend them to others.SincerelyAngela H

We went with them and paid $2,000 for a new garage door opener. We paid this amount because we were told we would have a lifetime warranty on it. After we paid and signed everything, the technician said oh we cant honor the warranty unless you upgrade your springs for $800-1200 more because your door is too heavy. So we asked them to take it down as we only paid this much to receive the warranty. We were told to wait for the technician to talk to his manager. After a lot of back and forth they are unwilling to do anything and stated all sales are final. Upon talking to some coworkers, they had a the same or similar experience. DO NOT USE THEM. You will regret itA1 Garage Door Service
