I saw an ad on the internet to try a sugar free chocolate and all you pay is shipping of $4.95. I read the terms and did not see anywhere where I would be charged anything additional or signing up for a subscription. I received the chocolate and it was all melted. I didnt care because I thought I was only paying for shipping. A few weeks later my credit card was charged $34.99. I was shocked! I called them and canceled the subscription which I didnt even realize I had signed. He said No problem and would refund me. Of course I was not refunded. This is a scam!!!! I called today and they said they had a right to charge me the full price. I cant afford$40.00 for a bag of chocolates. I would have never purchased this gas I known and on top of it all it was a melted mess. Beware of these scammers!!!!Business Response

I had the same thing happen as indicated in the other complaints here. They DO NOT tell you that you are subscribing to anything. In fact, they specifically put a notice in the initial email that states that IF YOU UPGRADED to the auto-ship subscription, then you will receive auto shipments (see attached), instead of telling you that if you accept the "free" bag, you are automatically enrolled. In my conversation with ******** at **************** today, they ONLY have auto-ship subscriptions, so there isn't ANY UPGRADE to auto-ship as is indicated. So now I am being charged $31.55 for a shipment that is on the way (supposedly) for chocolates that aren't very good and I would not buy even at the grocery store where they are supposedly available. I could have bought them there for less than the $4.95 that I was initially charged for shipping of the "free" package.Business Response

On 3/31/2023 I ordered a free trial of Skinny Me Chocolates for only a **** S&H fee.. Quite honestly, I didn't see anywhere that I would be enrolled in a recurring subscription after 7 days. In returning to the website after being charged 4,95 on 4/8 and ***** on 4/11, I do see that there is a very confusing message regarding the purchase, TRY YOUR FREE BAG: Get One FREE trial bag of our delicious zero sugar* chocolate squares. Then the following message is found between the product deccription and the add to bag button. *Try one 30pc bag of SkinnyMe Chocolate on us just cover $**** S&H. 7 days after receiving your free trial, you'll be enrolled in our monthly service of $***** plus S&H - cancel anytime.So I thought ok, so I didn't read carefully enough and enrolled accidentally in a monthly service. At this point, though, I wanted to cancel the service so I called customer service. After describing the situation, and also telling the representative that I hadn't yet received the additional bag, I was told the additional ***** had gone toward the original 'free trial' bag that I'd already received. I reread the information, even went to the terms and conditions section. I just don't see that it says I will be paying for the free trial chocolates that were already received. **************** was adamant that they had described the way the 'free trial' bag worked, that I hadn't called and the deductions from my bank account were correct. I told them that I would be fine with the additional charge, but as a membership program I should be getting the next shipment, paid for by the already paid sum of *****. So I asked them to cancel the subscription. I still think the way they worded everything is very deceptive.I can't get anything to print out properly from their site, the only additional info I can get is that my order number is ' March 31, 2023 *******'. I had the same thing happen to me as the other complaints here. They do NOT tell you that you are subscribing to anything. It's like they were told they legally have to put something about a subscription, so they put a huge FALSE notice about it. I don't even know if I have another bag coming for the $40 they charged me or if they are just charging me for the "free" bag without telling me.Business Response

I signed up for the free trial of SkinnyMe chocolate and received no clear indication that I would then be signed up for the subscription and charged $35 every month. I emailed the customer service inbox on 2/16/2023 requesting my subscription be canceled and have received no response. My card was still charged this month and I received an unwanted package of chocolates in the mail a few days back. I would like a refund for this month's charge and to have my subscription canceled. I was hoping to reach out to try to resolve the issue before I have to report this to my bank.Business Response

I ordered a free sample of SkinnyMe chocolate I did have to pay the shipping. Now they have sent me more chocolates that I did order. I feel this was illegal since I dont remember signing up for more chocolates which are not very tasty. Ordered a trial bag of SkinnyMe Chocolates on 1/26/23 thru an Instagram ad. The ad stated a trial bag of chocolates for $4.95. The ad did not state I would be enrolled in a subscription service with my order, unless I cancelled the subscription by calling. The ad did not state I would be charged the full amount for the trial bag of chocolates after 7 days. I received an email receipt for the $4.95 charge for the trial bag of chocolates on 1/28/23. The amount for $4.95 was correct so I didn't look further into the receipt. The trial bag of chocolates arrived apprx. 10 days later. On 2/28/23 I received a second bag of chocolates--which were melted. I was unsure as to why I received them. A dated 2/24/23 email receipt was in my spam box for $39.94 for another bag of chocolates. (I had no reason to check my spam box because I had concluded my business with SkinnyMe.) I contacted SkinnyMe on 2/28/23 the day I received the melted chocolates and was told I was automatically subscribed. I told them I did NOT subscribe and to cancel. I was NEVER sent an email receipt showing the "subscription" charge when they "enrolled" me, which was a charge of $34.99 on 2/3/23--which shows their deceptive practices and is clearly intentional on their part. Had I seen a receipt for their subscription, I would have immediately called and cancelled. But, SkinnyMe, of course, doesn't send an email receipt for that--because that's part of their scam. There was no information regarding automatic enrollment on the instagram ad I purchased the trial bag of chocolates from. I did not give permission to keep my cc info. The 2nd bag of (melted) chocolates that they sent is gross and *I* would have to pay to return ship it. I am being charged $79.88 for a trial bag of chocolates when it was advertised on social media as one bag to try for $4.95. I would like a refund of $74.93 and hope with all these complaints that this company gets investigated for their questionable business practice.Business Response

The trial candy was to be delivered on 3/2/2023. Nothing arrived and decided to check the BBB for information on the company and there were other complaints with the same issue I encountered. THIS IS A SCAM, when you order the trial its to trick you to a monthly membership. I called them on the date above and warned them not to ship anything else and will also contact my credit card of the scam.Business Response
