    I was given a product with the SpearmintLOVE brand name on it for Christmas - it was a knitted hat that said Mama on it and the tag stated that it was 100% sheeps wool made in *****. Im a knitter and fiber enthusiast and this didnt feel like wool to me, it felt like acrylic or polyester. So I did a simple test to check - I took a lighter to the inside seam of the cap and it melted - which is what plastic does, NOT wool! So this company is putting their name on junk fabric and trying to pass it off as a natural fiber. This matters because many people have synthetic fabric sensitivities (like me) or simply dont want endocrine disrupting plastics touching their skin.

    Purchased 2 hats, a swaddle blanket, and a bib from them a couple days ago (Oct 24) totalling $126 CND. Bring in ****** I already paid high amount due to exchange rate, including a ***** shipping fee $21 CND. Received a call today from ***** stating I owed duties and taxes totalling an additional $30CND. While policy was tucked away in there regarding international orders being final and there being additional fees not calculated at check out, I find it in poor customer service to charge a shipping fee that doesnt account for this. I purchase from *** companies OFTEN being in a small town, and never have had this happen. Company could not have cared less about the rip off and also let me find out the hard way that international orders are final - so even if products were defective or dams fed or falsely advertised, I would not have had the option to return or exchange. Seeing as there is no where to leave reviews (which is clearly intentional) Im filing this complaint to hopefully save another unsuspecting ******** family from purchasing from this poor managed company. Policy or not (lets be honest - we dont all read through all the policies before making a purchase, especially from a larger company you think you can trust), its important customer service to charge a shipping fee that doesnt cover the charges it takes to get the parcel to the customer and in even poorer taste to respond with an email with links to Can a customer refuse an order? as a response to their complaint. Do not purchase - there are many wonderful baby and child companies out there with actual customer service who care about their customers and will make sure youre happy with your products AND experience, regardless of the fact that youre in ******!

    We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you *** have experienced due to these charges from customs. Every country has its own customs rules and guidelines, therefore, costs will vary depending on the items being shipped and the countries they are being shipped to. We do our best to keep shipping costs low for our customers, absorbing the majority of the cost to ship that is charged by shipping carriers. As stated in our shipping terms, however, the customer is responsible for all import duties/customs charges. 


    Please note that we are always happy to help with damaged items, defective items, or items that *** differ from the photo/description. If this is the case, we will always refund or replace the item at no additional shipping cost. 


    We hope this better explains customs duties, fees and taxes and again apologize for the trouble this has caused.
