      I paid more than $40,000 to have a sunroom constructed. Every time it rains, the roof leaks where it attaches to the house. They keep sending the same guy to fix it. He is very nice, but not a roofer and this is clearly something he doesn’t know how to deal with. The leaks have been going on for two years. By now, I think they should have sent a competent roofer to fix it. The owners of the company don’t seem to care much about their shoddy work. If this continues, I am afraid the house will develop wood rot from the water in the walls.

      I contracted on 6/15/22 with Home Star to build a patio cover. They wanted a 50% deposit, which I gave them. The first post was installed incorrectly. They had no other material yet and post was to have been installed before my new deck by another contractor. First they told me material was in their shop. A couple of months later, they told me material was in Los Angeles and they had no one to go there to pick it up. In July, I cancelled the project and requested by deposit back as allowed by the contract. I have no confidence in this company anymore. I met the owner and he tried to lower the price of the patio cover or sell me something else. I asked him to return my deposit. He later wrote a check to refund my deposit, which ended up not having sufficient funds. Each week he tells me he has a cash flow problem and "hopes" to get me the refund. It is now 11/29/22 and there is no refund in sight. His company is struggling and he will not find a source of cash to return my refund. I will not give up on getting the hefty deposit refunded as allowed by contract. For now, he tries to give me hope to put me off for another week as he simply will not return the deposit he most likely used for some else's project. Owner keeps blaming COVID, material shortages, and lack of manpower even though he is still writing contracts for new projects. After 45+ years in business, I am sure he has the money to put an end to this and pay me back. He just won't do it.

      I am rejecting this response because we have a signed agreement that if the work was not commenced by October 28, 2022, we would receive a refund.  Further, this merchant has not returned our calls or written messages since that time.  His offer to call is just a further stall tactic.

      I am rejecting this response because:there is nothing but the same promise I have been hearing for months.  I would like my money refunded, so I can find an honest contractor to finish the job.
