      I was referred to Kern Radiology (KR) for a Thyroid Uptake Exam. I was experiencing so many thyroid symptoms that they were interfering with my ability to take care of my three children and work as a mental health therapist treating depression and suicide. Due to the symptoms, I had to call off of work, I couldn't drive, and I needed extra assistance in taking care of my children. I was literally going to the doctor every day for two weeks and they couldn't do anything. No one would prescribe me any thyroid medication unless I received the thyroid uptake exam. The appointments at Kern Radiology for this exam were 6-8 weeks out and I called every day for two weeks, 3-5 times a day, to receive a sooner appointment, which I ultimately did. I had my appointment scheduled for 7/26/2022 at the Stockdale office at 9900 Stockdale.

      When I arrived to my appointment on 7/26/2022, I was told that the only technician at KR who could perform this exam was out. He had also been out the whole week prior on vacation. I was told today that he would be out the whole week and he is the only person who could perform this exam. I don't understand how there is only one technician employed to perform this exam. I broke down crying when I was told that my appointment had to be rescheduled. I don't think the staff understand how detrimental untreated thyroidism is. I spoke to ****, the supervisor, who told me she would call me later in the day to get me a sooner appointment. **** told me that she should be able to get me in on 8/4/2022. However, I haven't heard from her and I have called her at least six times and left voicemails. The last time I called her, my call went straight to voicemail. I've left mes****s for the office manager, ******, and I have yet to receive a call back. I believe this facility should be held liable for all the time/earnings I've lost due to having to call off of work for my symptoms and for my Patients who are being impacted by me not being available to them.
