Part one First off, they are expensive per square foot of storage and secondly and are very careless with your property. Secondly and more importantly between picking my items storing them for 13 months and delivering them back to me, THEY BROKE 5 OF ITEMS AND LOST 2. So I have paid clutter more than $6000 in fees (that go up without notice) and I am left with my most important pieces broken and unusable. The cost to replace the antique mirror (one of a kind), fix the legs snapped legs on a wood credenza (they don't even have the broken legs so I can attempt to have them fixed), fix the bent leg and shelf on a stainless steel credenza, and all the legs on a teak side table is about $9000. I filled out all the claims on these items only to have a very nice customer service rep tell me the MAXIMUM COVERAGE IS $2500. Then they rejected the biggest repair because they felt the item as already damaged even though the before pictures show it standing in the original condition. It's either a badly applied Jedi mind trick or a Trump level gaslighting. The insurance coverage seems reasonable enough when you get it for an additonal $25 per month- What reputable company would break or lose more than that? We've all put things in storage before, when was the last time you had this much damage to anything? Well, let me tell you - Clutter would and they have. On the day of the return 2 young guys showed up, they were nice enough guys but completely lost, THEY COULD BARELY LIFT MY COUCH, which arrived with a broken leg (and not included above because I am going to try to fix it myself. Their demeanor was "oh yeah, this is really poorly packed no wonder it was broken, we'd get fired for packing like this. Oh sorry yeah that was broken, not sure what happened." (Clutter does all the packing for those of you that don't know). For a nice cherry on top, my WOOD FLOORS WERE NOTICABLY SCRATCHED in 3 different places. And the Claims department has rejected 2 of 3 claims,

Thanks for the nudge - here is the rest of the review.

...citing that it should all be covered by the first approved claim ($100). The whole service is picking up your stuff, storing your stuff and returning your stuff the same why they got it. It's not difficult, but apparently it is. THEY HAD NO IDEA WHERE ANY OF THE HARDWARE was for any of the items that they took apart.

At the same time Clutter showed up, I had another moving company deliver some other items from my previous home. They were pro, they had tools, and didn't leave a single scratch on anything. They were so pro. STAY AWAY FROM CLUTTER, the THE ONLY THING THIS DISRUPTOR IS DISRUPTING IS YOUR PROPERTY AND YOUR WALLET - there isn't a single pro in this business, it's nearly impossible to get anyone from Claims on the phone. (You have to call *** the CEO) I have numerous emails about the same thing only to get a boiler plate emails telling me there are no guarantees that anything will be made right.

There are three important lessons learned from this experience, one - do your homework, read the reviews. Two - read the fine print on the contract there's always fine print. And three PICK ANY COMPANY BUT THIS ONE for moving and storage.

Wish I could give this awful company 0 stars! Had a hideous experience with Clutter, Inc. Was with MakeSpace, which they bought out. They immediately raised the monthly storage rates, significantly. They also stopped providing useful support via phone or email. Called for help, was given a long wait time and an option to press a button for a callback. Chose that option and the call was immediately cut off. Called back and waited, only to be told I had to do everything on their website, got no help from the rep. It was like they were reading from a script. They provide an email address for support on their website, but any email sent to that address got a reply that no support would be provided from that address and referred me to their website, where no other help options were visible. Was so annoyed by their treatment that I chose to remove my stuff from their storage. Selected a date, which they then arbitrarily delayed for two days, with no notice to me until the morning of the date I had selected. Assume that was so they could gouge me for a few more dollars. They also charged a fee and labor for returning my things, which was not the arrangement I had had with MakeSpace. Clutter customer support is nearly non-existent, and it is clear they are only interested in how much money they can get from their customers. They could care less about providing good service or reasonable prices. If you are in need of storage, AVOID Clutter like the plague!

Not to go over the same exact story as everyone else but I had the same horrendous experience. During COVID, I stored with MakeSpace and then it became Clutter. My items (also thousands of dollars worth) were lost, damaged, and uncared for. I was charged to have only part of my stuff returned and then the claim I made was met with pennies on the dollar and a response hiding behind their T+C's. Absolutely appalling. To make matters worse, the delivery guys just wanted me to review them before they left my apartment after breaking and losing so much of my stuff. It felt threatening and while I held my ground, it was really uncomfortable. I'd like to see local news do a story on just how irresponsible this business is - beyond disappointing.

      Kelly,

We are so very sorry to see the state of your items upon delivery. We can assure you that we have processed the eligible items at the highest level of coverage given a lack of Protection Plan on file. These payouts are even more than what you would've received had you still been a MakeSpace customer when filing. We are genuinely sorry that there is no more we can do to payout for these high-value items.

With that being said, we will be sure to alert the Leadership of the team that was on-site as this is unacceptable. Their behavior should never make you feel threatened or uncomfortable and we will be sure to address that internally.

      Sincerely,
      The Clutter Team

Managed to damage or lose every item of value I entrusted to their care. Spent ~$6k with them to store my belongings for 2 years and when they returned them today there was over $5k worth of missing or damaged items. Now hiding behind their max exposure / limited liability clauses. Completely negligent and not fit for purpose. If you like your belongings you should stay far away from this company.

Pickup was good. But the return was aweful. Many of my items I cherish and spent so much money on for storage came back damaged, molded or unusable. I made a claim and was only given a few hundred dollars for the thousands of dialed I lost.
