  The Federal Trade Commission v Pacific Billing Solutions
  The following describes a pending government action that has been formally brought by a government agency but has not yet been resolved. We are providing a summary of the governments allegations, which have not yet been proven.
  
  
  
  On February 24, 2025, The Federal Trade Commission filed a Temporary Restraining Order with Asset Freeze, Appointment of a Receiver, and Other Equitable Relief, and Order to Show Cause Why a Preliminary Injunction Should Not Issue against Pacific Billing Solutions. Charges filed allege the business is in violation of federal law by falsely representing that consumers are delinquent on payday loans or other debts that defendants have the authority to collect, falsely representing that consumers have a legal obligation to pay defendants, falsely representing that defendants are attorneys or affiliated with attorneys, falsely representing that defendants are a law firm or affiliated with a law firm, falsely representing that consumers will be arrested or imprisoned for failing to pay defendants, falsely representing that consumers’ wages will be garnished, or liens will be placed on consumers’ property for failing to pay defendants, falsely representing that defendants have taken, intend to take, or have authority to take formal legal action against consumers who fail to pay them, such as filing suit, falsely representing that consumers’ outstanding debts have been reported to the credit bureaus, falsely representing that, upon payment of this purported debt, defendants will have the consumer’s outstanding debt deleted from the consumer’s credit bureau report, falsely representing the character, amount, or legal status of debts, used false representations or deceptive means to collect or attempt to collect debts or to obtain information concerning a consumer, placed telephone calls without meaningful disclosure of their identity, failed to disclose in the initial oral communication with consumers that defendants are debt collectors attempting to collect debts and that any information obtained by defendants from consumers will be used for the purpose of attempting to collect debts, used business, company, or organization names other than the true name of defendants’ business, failed to send debt validation to consumers, and made false, fictitious, or fraudulent statements or representations to customers of financial institutions to obtain or attempt to obtain customer information of a financial institution, such as credit or debit card numbers and bank account and routing numbers.
