I received a flier from the California Recovery Group regarding their representation for the after-fire clean-up. I did everything they requested as far as allowing inspections, filling out paperwork, and signing my portion of the contract. The claim was made to my homeowner insurance, (California Casualty) earlier this years. Once all the required paperwork was submitted, my insurance paid California Recovery Group a check addressed to them and I on July 26, 2023 for ********. I didn't know the check was issued until I received another call from California Recovery Group on September 21, 2023, regarding the attack that wasn't covered in the payment by my insurance company. The woman on the other end of the line advised me that she was going to send an email to my insurance company and If she could "cc" me and I also respond and request coverage. I asked her if the rest of the house was covered, and she said yes. I asked her when the check was sent out because I didn't receive any money. She put me on hold and said she would send an email to the "check person" which i demanded her connect me. She said someone would call me back. I have made numerous attempts to contact California Recovery Group to resolve my issue, but I'm just getting the same response, "someone will call you back" which never happened. At this point I believe this company is a scam, and they are taking advantage of homeowner insurances, because the insurance doesn't call to verify information. This is wrong on every level. I am requesting a thorough investigation in this matter as soon as possible to prevent further scams by this false company.

We keep getting notices from this company that states that we live in a contamination zone and therefore they want us to contact them for a free consultation and we are not interested. We called and told them to remove ** from their mailing list and got a rude response that we should just throw their mailings away if we don't want them. In other words, it is not worth their time to remove ** from their scam scare tactics mailers. We want nothing to do with this company and we don't want their unsolicitated mail coming into our mailbox. We don't understand why this is so hard for them to accomodate **.

I signed a contract for California Recovery Group to represent me for wild fire damage . I was told at the time I had 3 days to cancel and the contract had a specific date and time to have the contact cancelled without issue. The contract said I would split whatever judgement received with them 50/50. But nothing would be filed until after the 3 day time period to cancel contract. I very soon began getting messages stating that the claim was filed. This got me thinking they are ******* the process and trying to get it done before the 3 day cancellation period so that I'm less likely to cancel.I decided to get online and read some reviews on CRG. The bad experiences stood out to much and it didn't seem right to continue with they're company. I signed the form to cancel the contract before the scheduled deadline and sent it by email, mail, and spoke with someone by phone to ensure there was no mistaking I made the cancellation deadline. I received a call the next day offering to change the contract from 50/50 to 35/50 if I continue on with them. If the 50/50 could be negotiated down to 35/50 they could probably even go lower and how could I trust them to represent me when they already tried taking the most from me. So I would not resign a contract and have since asked repeatedly for documentation stating they no longer represent me because it's needed for me to continue my claim without them. Multiple emails, multiple calls and I never get anyone by phone or online. Even got hung up on and no one responds to my emails. It's like they're holding me hostage for not wanting or allowing them to hustle me

On December 23, 2021, my home flooded. I hired California Recovery Group, *** as public adjusters to deal with the insurance claim, and hire all of the necessary vendors to do all repairs to my property. It has been more a year and my insurance company cut 11 checks which total $53,512 all cashed by CA Recovery. They have not sent one contractor to my home to repair and I am not being cited by the City I live in for all of the code violations present as a result of the flood and the trash receptacles still present to haul away debris a year later. I have exposed electrical wires , no drywall up and terrible plumbing and CA Recovery kept all insurance proceeds not just their percentage. These people are crooks and thieves. They do not return calls and in looking at the cancelled checks from the insurance company they deposited checks I did not sign even though I was a co-payee. I am near the brink of having my home condemned by the city for at least 17 code violations.

Received a letter in december 2022 and a second letter in february 2023 with the following information:Your property is located in a contamination zone. The wake of the various wildfires between september 4, 2020 through september 6 2022 may have impacted your property located at <> with wildfire related contaminants. The smoke contaminants are typically finer than a human hair and invisible to the naked eye due to its microscopic nature. They may have corrosive content that can discolor your properties surfaces, damage your ducts, circulate in your home and cause adverse health issues without proper mitigation. Please contact us for a free consultation to determine whether your property may have been impacted by potential microscopic smoke contaminants. in the event that our advisors proceed with your case, we will represent you with zero upfront costs, and only get paid if we're successful in securing a financial reward. This is a time sensitive matter, so please contact us at ************** or scan this QR code below to schedule your free/no obligation phone consultation today. Signed ***************************, California Recovery Group. License #******* I believe they are trying to scam people otherwise why would they send these types of unsolicited letters and labeling them as time sensitive. Our authorities or government has not indicated that there was contamination due to corrosive particulates, and if there is the possibility of actual contamination, we would probably be alerted by authorities to file claims against our insurance companies. I believe they should stop sending mailers to people.

I am rejecting this response because:

As I was explicit in my complaint, not only I want to be removed from the mail list, but I also need to make sure their scare tactics of contacting people get addressed.

My complain will be addressed if they will change future practices of sending notifications with warnings of fines and imprisonment.

Also *************************** from the California Recovery Group is claiming that my property is in a contamination zone. It speaks of smoke contaminants, corrosive content and discolor of properties as well as adverse health issues.

If they are planning to continue these scaring tactics they should remove or change their language and make it more plain and unambiguous.  If the service they are offering is to make a claim against the house insurance due to damage or potential damage caused to ducts  it should be plainly stated.

      Sincerely,

      *******************************

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and although I don't  agree with their  tactics, I find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I find hard to believe that current laws allow this type of advertising to happen.

I have been working with California Recovery Group for over a year on a claim with the insurance company. After the deposition with the insurance company, I requested all the documents that we "supposedly" signed. I asked for a call back multiple times on an update on the claim and kept getting the run around. We have no received any of the documents requested nor am I getting a call back. This seems very shady as they are handling our home insurance yet refuse to give updates. I am concerned about where this is legally for my home, as nothing is being relayed to us by CRG. The insurance company said we signed certain documents and it was NOT our signature. I do not know if CRG are signing things for us and not telling us, nor providing the documents to us.

I have spoken with ********** in regards to his concerns and I was able to provide him with the documents he requested that were signed by his behalf. As well we were able to complete a conference call with the insurance adjuster and the client to provide the most accurate update. In regards to documents that we signed, we did have Power of attorney to do so. So Everything per request has been resolved.

      Thank you

I received a very official looking letter in the mail today September 29, 2022 from California Recovery Group. It says my home may have been contaminated by smoke from a house fire last year near my home. They provided the address of the home that they say burned but I checked & that address does not exist. I don't know what kind of scam this company is trying to pull but they are obviously being ********* & I wanted to ***** you. Thank you...
