I reached out to purchase an Inogen for my Grandfather. The entire experience was exceptional. The saleswomen explained the different options between rental through his insurance, and private purchase. we opted to purchase the G5 model because of the longer battery life, and a lot less red tape and less paperwork like the insurance company required. My grandfather loves it! it allows him to get back out into the yard to work on his garden. The tanks would barely last an hour and the G5 gives him over 5 hours on a setting of 2. Truly exceptional product and service.

When I first called Inogen, the salesman asked me a series of questions to determine which portable oxygen machine might be best for my 89-year old mother. One of the questions was, "What is the amount of oxygen or flow that your mom needs?" My response was, "1.5-liters of oxygen." The salesman replied, "Well, we'll round that up to 2." I asked, "Why?" He didn't answer, but continued with the other questions.
My family decided to purchase this equipment because of it's 7-hour battery feature, but after I received the equipment, charged the battery and turned the machine on, I found there were only six settings, 1-6.
I contacted my salesman to ask how I could arrange for the machine to be set at 1.5 liters, but he referred me to the "Gold-Star" set-up team (who were not answering their phones.) Afterwards I called the customer service representative, and she told me the machine could not be set at 1.5 liters. It did not accommodate half number increments. It was then I realized I had been hoodwinked.
My mother was prescribed 1.5 liters of oxygen, and that is why the salesman said, "We'll round that up to 2," because his machine could not accomodate 1.5, or any half-increment settings for that matter. I was furious! When I first told him my mother was prescribed 1.5-liters of oxygen, he should have told me then his equipment does not accommodate half increments. At least then I could have checked with our doctor and made a more informed decision about my purchase.
I feel now he just wanted to make the sale. Using such type of deceptive sales practices on medical equipment, that is primarily used by the eldery, is unconscionable. What a disheartening experience.
