      I made a reservation about two years ago for a vehicle. Now it comes time to prepare to received the vehicle and Rivian cancels my order and forfeit my down payment. I would simply like to complete my vehicle purchase.

      We are writing in response to the complaint filed by ****** regarding the cancellation of his vehicle order and the forfeiture of his down payment. 

      ****** made a reservation for a vehicle approximately two years ago. However, on October 25, 2023, we informed ****** that we would be canceling his order. This decision was made based on our terms and conditions, as Rafaels intention to export the reserved vehicle(s) violated our policy.

      In an email sent on October 25, 2023, our guide informed ****** that Rivian does not sell to customers intending to export their vehicles or support the export of vehicles. Due to our discovery that ****** intended to export the reserved vehicle(s) after purchase, we canceled his order and also intended to cancel any additional existing preorders. 

      ****** responded on the same day, seeking clarification on the cancellation. On October 26, 2023, we reiterated to ****** the reason for the order cancellation and flagged his intention to transport the vehicle(s) out of ***************** to the ******************. We explained that there is no leeway on this matter, and we are unable to reinstate the order.

      First and foremost, when I placed my reservation with Rivian back in 2019 I did not sign any type of paperwork agreeing to anything that they mention on their letter.  Moreover when I purchased both trucks I paid not only full price but I was charged taxes much higher that the taxes in *******. I was charged ******** taxes to have the cars registered in *****.  

      This is clearly a violation of my original reservation and all I want is for Rivian to 
       my order placed in 2019.  If from this point forward they so decide to not sell me a vehicle I would understand since their company has new policies in effect.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

      I was sent to a certified Rivian Body shop on 9-14-2023-I picked it up on 10-14-2023 and it has not been the same. I eventually took it to the Rivian ************** in ***************. I was informed this morning at 8:50 AM that my lights were not functioning properly. It was not safe. The alignment was off and it needed adjusted per their employee ******. ****** stated he could not do the alignment and fix the issue because it would void the warranty. He would contact the body shop and arrange for this issue to be corrected. At approx. 5pm he called back and not only lied about the lights being ok, he lied about what he told me. When I reminded him he is on a recorded line which would come up should a civil suit occur-He magically lost his amnesia and admitted to what he said at 8:50-ish AM. He then went on and said he only said that because of the pictures I had-He hadn't actually tested or looked at anything-Can we say not logical or rational. In the meantime, I have sent messages to the on-call guides, called multiple times requesting a supervisor since 10-18-23. On 10-23-23 I called all day multiple times requesting to speak to supervisor. I was lied to all day. I finished my last call with at 9pm with a guy who called himself ******************* was not a supervisor-He asked for another 72 hours to make things "right". I asked him what I should do if the service center calls the next day and says the vehicle is ready for pickup despite them not correcting the issue-He tells me to pick it up. At the end of the day I am done with this disrespect. I am done with the supervisors dodging my calls. I am done with the lies. Rivian can first of all have a supervisor from the leadership team call me and apologize personally and then they can send me a letter of apology for being so incredibly ignorant and rude. Then they can either fix my vehicle or assist in the process being that their "certified body shop" created this mess and then their employee lied about his findings.

      Rivians employee is an outright liar. Please take note of the dates Mrs. **** has correspondingly lied about. It is the end of January ****. This issue has been a problem since the beginning of 10/2023 yet Mrs. **** refused to address any of the issues as evidence by that dishonest and incompetent response. Had the job been done I would have had no reason to contact the Better Business Bureau. I hope all current and potential customers take note on how this business conducts itself and how they want to lie. Absolutely grotesque business practices

      In response to the follow-up, here is a detailed account of the interactions and efforts made to address the customers concerns, as previously stated.
      On 10/20/23, ************ requested a callback because of alleged damage to the vehicle referred by the Certified ******** Center.
      On 10/23/23, our service team spoke with ************ to address his headlamp and audio concerns and to gather more information.
      On 10/23/23, he had multiple interactions with our service team. They assured him that the matter was actively being worked on. They also confirmed that the headlight inspection was listed on the work order. He was later contacted to provide the update on the completed headlight alignment inspection which found the headlights were within specifications. A solution was offered for him to come in for a visit with a technician to better understand his concerns. He called in twice more after this, wanting to know why no one had called him to discuss the issues that he had been waiting on since 10/18/23, despite having spoken to numerous service reps, being provided updates and next step solutions.
      On 10/24/23, ************ called to speak with the service center. A manager called to discuss the concerns and offered to accommodate his request to inspect the issue at night in dark conditions, which he refused. He called in shortly after asking to speak with management again. The request was accommodated, and service spoke with ************ who agreed to come pick up his vehicle that day around noon. He later called again asking that we plug in the vehicle to make sure it had enough charge. Our service center charged the vehicle as requested.
      The last documented interaction with ************ was on 11/28 when a Transfer of Ownership request was made. Since the completion of the Transfer, the vehicle is no longer in his possession.
      As documented, numerous inbound and outbound calls were held to address ************ concerns, with multiple solutions and attempts to assist in this matter.

      I have over 8 unanswered emails from Rivian regarding their absolutely grotesque and mangled job they did to my vehicle. Their service manager admitted he could not test my vehicle in the dark because their shop closed before it was dark outside. Rivian wouldnt allow him to stay late or open early. He also has a radius he had to stay within, meaning he couldnt drive out to a rural area to test the obstructions that were occurring. Yet it was fixed? Hard to fix something and say its fixed when you cant reproduce the condition or environment the issue is occurring in, right ********?

      Their service manager explaining his limitations was recorded??

      I have over 6 logged calls in which are recorded where Rivian refusedFlat out refused to put anyone on the line from their leadership team to address their awful policy which apparently limited Mr. ******* manger. This went on for over 2 months of me attempting to speak to someone in leadership. Rivian will fail because of this. I was forced to trade in a brand new vehicle because of their disgusting policies and lazy employees. Our business canceled a fleet order based on this laughable wannabe automobile manufacturer. I am happy to share my experience on all public forums and social media about this awful companies employees and business practices 

       

      On 10/14/2023 a final email was sent to show proof of their continued misconduct and refusal to assist in their short comings. I have copies of these emails. I have tried to take screenshots to upload them but the file is to large and unsupported on this site. I have all my documentation ready to go and would be happy to email to the BBB should there be a way to do so : )

      After a 13-month wait, we finally received the first truck of our life, a Rivian R1T ! Little did we realize then we would fall into the hands of an automobile company that has scant regard for its customers and more importantly, can even resort to questionable tactics ...DAY #1 FROM DELIVERY DATE - one of the vehicle's gear tunnel doors swung out on our way back home late in the night. Luckily when this happened, we were a couple of miles from our home. I decided to GET ON TO THE TURCK'S BED to hold the gear tunnel door in place while my wife drove. Rivian sent a mobile technician to fix the tunnel door latch a couple of days later.DAY #** FROM DELIVERY DATE - I was about to back the truck out of our garage for a local trip and it went dead - all systems SHUT DOWN out of nowhere although it had **0 miles worth of battery charge left ! For a couple of minutes, I was trapped inside the vehicle. Again luckily, my wife was home and she managed to get the driver side to open with the only key fob that came with this vehicle.On the 3rd day of the vehicle getting towed away, I was called by Rivian service center with an update that there was some damage to an electrical wiring line that needed more time to investigate.Now this is where I say this company managed to breach the lows is when they attributed the wiring damage to RODENT ACTIVITY during our possession of the vehicle for a little over 2 weeks ! And we have 2 OTHER CARS - including a Tesla Model S - all seemed to escape this rodent's wrath !!The pictures point to a potential wiring damage that *** have more likely occurred in Rivian's assembly line or warehouse. Also if there was a rodent prone spot in question, it was none other than where they left the car parked at the service center - furthest out from visibility of prospect Rivian customers.Till date, Rivian has made no efforts in setting right a vehicle manufactured with POOR WORKMANSHIP that could have caused potential injury or even death.

      I had a $1,000 deposit down on a rivian vehicle. I logged into their website in an attempt to cancel the order and have the deposit refunded, but inadvertently clicked the wrong checkbox, and it immediately made the deposit non-refundable. I instantly called customer service, open the chatbot and emailed it representative. None of these individuals said they could assist. There has been no escalation, no one else to talk to. Just left in a black void. After waiting two and a half years for a vehicle that was never ready, they screwed me on the deposit too.

      I pre-ordered a Rivian vehicle last year with a $1000 pre-order deposit. The pre-order agreement (*************************************************) stated clearly that the deposit is refundable in the event of cancellation of the preorder by any party - me or Rivian. Recently (on 9/23/2023), i requested cancellation of the preorder after getting an email communication from Rivian that once i confirm the order now, then it would become non-refundable. But, Rivian customer service claims that i have already confirmed the order on 9/18/2023 and now $1000 is non-refundable. I did not confirm the order once i got the email on 9/23/2023 about non-refundable deposit after I confirm.

This confirmation is a signal to Rivian to schedule production of the customer's configured ********************** vehicle. On September 18th, 2023, ************** confirmed his configuration and agreed to a non-refundable deposit.

      They still have the preorder agreement in their own website that states about the cancellation and refund. If there was change in the agreement, it should be communicated to me via email or phone AND update the agreement online. No where in their website it is expressed that the deposit becomes non-refundable. I know why then don't do that - then they cannot make buyers fools like me. In my case, no communication was done prior to September 23, 2023. After that, i have never confirmed anything, and in fact, i have sent written communication to cancel the preorder. I am not sure why Rivian says i confirmed on September 18, 2023. This needs an explanation. They are just making policies in their favor and disregarded the original preorder agreement.

      I placed my R1S pr-order in June 2019. I was informed of my pending delivery earlier this year. So I signed all documents and made a full payment via wire transfer. However, I changed the configuration of my R1S after the payment and before the delivery. The wheels were changed from 22" sports dark to 22" sports bright(2000$ difference at the time) and the PPF(1500$) was removed. After this change Rivian owed me 3500$+sales tax. The guide said the refund check will be mailed to me in 4-6 weeks. I took the delivery of my R1S in April. After waiting for two months I reached out to my guide who was absolutely non responsive. I emailed Rivian support and then my guide told me that check was mailed to me but somehow got lost. So now a new check will be mailed to me which again may take 4-6 weeks. After waiting for 6 weeks again I reached out to my guide but as usual she is absolutely non responsive after my 5+ attempts to reach her. It's been 5+ months since I took the delivery and still not refund. It's amazing how consumers can't delay their payment without any penalties yet these corporations get away with anything.

      2021 Reservation Holder. $1000 deposit paid. 2022 signed sales agreement. 2023 keep getting my reservation delayed. Was at 4Q23 for last 6 months, now to get pushed back into 2024.At this rate, they could keep pushing back my reservation date in perpetuity. Essentially making my $1000 deposit, a free loan. A change in delivery date is understandable but 3-4? Rivian needs to provide guarantees on delivery ranges other it just feels like theft. Also, that $1000 was not meant to be a loan but a promise. That is $1000 I could have deployed elsewhere.

      This issue has not been resolved. I spoke with Rivian's customer service team and they suggested I submit a claim with the Better Business Bureau. See my initial complaint as follows:

      "I had placed a preorder for two Rivian vehicles in April of 2022. I cancelled the first one on August 7th, 2023 through the Rivian web page and received a full refund. I updated the vehicle selection on my second preorder (which I had done a few times in the past) and confirmed the updated vehicle selection without realizing it would "lock in" by deposit. I cancelled the second one on August 7th, 2023 via email as soon as I realized the error, was told I would receive a refund, and then received no refund. This "locking in" of my deposit was a new policy, as updating vehicle configurations had not resulted in this "locking in" in the past. I had no intention to confirm that I wanted to purchase the vehicle, rather I just wanted to see the new price estimate with my new selection. I spoke with 3 different people at Rivian, which ultimately led to their recommendation that I file a complaint here."

      I'd like to reiterate that I was told that I would receive a refund via email, only to receive a zero dollar refund receipt, and then be told that I would not receive a refund.

      Hello. I am seeking your help with a company that is not responding to a mistake made by them which cancelled a long standing order with them. In Dec 2021 I reserved a vehicle manufactured and to be delivered by Rivian Automotive. After repeated delays and postponement of deliveries, Rivian finally gave me an estimated delivery of Q1, ****, three years after my reservation was made. I am fine with that timeframe, given the company's difficulties. Rivian agreed to preserve my place in line and pricing in a subsequent August **********************Since then, they announced that they were now shipping a newer technology that made my old order obsolete for drivers like me. When I enquired if I could change to this new technology, and, expressed that they owed this to long term reservation holders, they cancelled my order.Since then, the agent who cancelled it has admitted it was a mistake. But, the company is non-responsive and has gone silent on me. Wait times are 6 hours and they do not respond to emails or phone messages.I paid a deposit of $1000 for the vehicle, waited 28 months and never asked for them to cancel my order.All I am asking is that the company restore my order, position in line and pricing that we had prior to their mistake.Please help me get the company to restore my order and respond to me. Thanks.
