1 starRivian makes great products, however the South San ***************** Center employees are unprofessional and provide subpar service. If you are looking for a premium or even good experience, then try a different service center and avoid south sf. Employees do not have the knowledge or expertise to carry out service requests. The *********************** performed service that was not requested and then charged me for it. After denying warranty requests that are clearly due to manufacturer defects, they tried to upsell me on a new car.Review fromChad T

1 starI wish I had read the reviews on this page before buying the R1S. We just bought it a few weeks ago, 370 mile range, and it died on the side of the road 220 miles into our first road trip. The last stretch I had 40 miles left and I was 34 miles away. Im good right? Car died literally 100 feet shy of the charging station. I called roadside assistance, they tried to talk me into getting my own tow truck, which I eventually did after they told me it would take several hours to go through them. The guy also told me to hurry because after an hour without charge, the 12v batteries will be ruined. He failed to tell me that I could have just disabled the parking brake in the settings and pushed the car the 100 ft to the charging station, so I ended up finally getting my own tow truck, and he dropped the car off at the Tesla charging station 100 ft away (I walked lol), and I thought I was good. ****. The roadside assistance guy also failed to tell me that once the 12v batteries are completely dead, the car CANNOT be recharged at a Tesla station because it needed a level 2 charging station where the 12v would first need take a trickle charge. I hurried and called the tow truck back but he was already gone. When the next guy at Rivian told me my new dilemma, he said he will try to get a tow truck for me, but by the time it shows up, the 12v is certainly dead and will need to be replaced at my expense. He literally made sure to point that out. I said no dont care, Im on a family vacation and I need the car fixed. He said well its Friday night and they wont get to it until Monday. I ended up renting a gas powered van and Im finishing my family vacation. The guy made sure to tell me since it was my fault that I shouldnt expect to get reimbursed for the cost of the van. I bought a $100k car I dont care about the cost of batteries or a rental, I just want it to work the way they said it would. Im not paying my lease payment. Im done with Rivian.Review fromZana I

1 star3 weeks ago, we were 135mi away from home.. we were ready to head back home.. our car(R1T) gave an error funk/hood is open.. despite it was not open..then when I attempted to drive it.. speed was limited to 13MPH, Called the Rivian Roadside assistance. after talking to 3 people. last person found a manual way to open hood.. which it took me 90 minutes to unscrew things and find a wire to pull to open the hood.. after getting scratched all around my arms and legs.. I was able to find it with bleeding arms.. unfortunately, it didnt help.. We had to go to home, because my wife had a surgical operation next day and my daughter had to go to school, after 3 hours of phone call conversations with the Rivian. they said that theres nothing they can do, cannot send a rescue truck, cannot help, we were left on our own!!We ended up driving 135miles in 8 hours!!!.. while cars speed was limited to 13MPH when we were climbing up to hill and on the flat roads, when we were driving it down the hill.. it was accelerating crazy fast beyond 80MPH.. we reached 90s for a few times.. while we realized the breaks .so while car was accelerating to 90s the both brakes were not working.. Despite all of these extremely unsafe situations and experience.. we made it home safe.. and after +10 hours(both on Sunday when this issue occurred.. and next day Monday) of phone conversations with Rivian.. it took them 3 days to pick the vehicle up from my home to their service center in *******.. while this was an extremely urgent situation.. they didnt prioritize this until next week.. then they spent less than an hour to test.. and as a result.. they changed the sensor controlling state of the hood.. was the only thing they did!!!! They ignored the safety issues about breaks and acceleration!!!I wanted to make sure others are aware of this issue!! And think twice before buying a Rivian!!Review fromTommy J T

1 starI too would like my $1,000 deposit back, via check. Rivian has refused to mail me a check, citing legalities and other non-sense. This company will fail, which is unfortunate. Take care of your customers, they are the only ones you have. If not, the rest of the automotive industry will take care of them for you.Review fromMolly F

1 starWe would like our $1,000 deposit returned or, at the very least, switch the deposit to an R2. After waiting nearly three years, we were told the vehicle would be ready in August or September of 2023. We ended up selling a car in September to make room for the R1S. September came to an end and no R1S. We were told the new date would be end of October. November came and no Rivian. Then, we were told it would arrive December or January 2024. The end of January came and still no Rivian. We needed a car and ended up purchasing another vehicle. Weve talked a few Rivian customer service ***** but no one gets back to us with a solution. We would like the deposit returned or moved as they did not deliver on their many promises.Review fromGul M

1 starDo not honor or bother to call back or resolve the in warranty issue. Vehicle parts falling apart in ** heat. Passenger side chrome panel cane off due to heat as it is glued to the door trim. Created 4 tickets and every time lied about that Rivian will call and no one called back.Review fromJorge B

1 starI was one of the earlier reservation holders, really rooting for Rivian, and willing to give this company tons of latitude because I believed in their purported mission statement. Unfortunately, a mile long list of broken promises with chronically missed delivery windows (despite stringing me along emails 'it is coming'), lowering or just completely dropping of options and benefits has made me change my mind on this company. When you make a purchase of this magnitude, you are buying more than a vehicle, but the entire support infrastructure around it: customer service, technical support, repairs teams, charging infrastructure, financing, ... All of it rests on trust. Trust that the company will uphold their end of the bargain; trust that the company will compensate you as a customer when they repeatedly fail to fulfill their own promises. It is my personal experience that my trust on Rivian was sadly misplaced, as they kept moving the goalpost to their advantage. Even as of recent still using Covid as an excuse for anything they did not fulfill. At some point they should take responsibility for their own shortcomings. And just saying 'we take responsibility' is not nearly enough. Other car companies worked through the same pandemic and supply chain issues and still delivered on their promises. Enough with the excuses. At the end of the day, I wish Rivian had done what it said it would when it took money from its customers, but in my experience it has not. I really wanted Rivian to succeed but now I just cannot recommend it to any prospective car shopper. There are many companies out there with similar or better products, at a better price, and that stand behind them. I would ask, why buy from someone you cannot trust?Review fromRoger P

1 starThe only reason I'm giving a 1-star review is because 0-stars is not an option. We bought an R-1S. My wife got a flat tire at 10:00 at night. She limped it off the freeway, called me, and I came to meet her. We called Rivian roadside assistance. They said because we had AAA we were better off to just have it flat-bedded to our house and they would send a mobile repair truck to replace the tire the next day. That sounded great. The next day I followed up with Rivian (after being on hold and bounced around for 30 minutes) and they informed me that I was indeed scheduled for a mobile tire repair--in 3 months! I thought they were joking. They advertise their mobile repair trucks as a real thing! Not so. I confirmed with the supervisor that indeed 90 days was the soonest they could come out. And because the spare tire option was not available for purchase, I couldn't use self-help.I began calling one tire repair shop after another, and none of them would touch a Rivian. They all said it was either too heavy or they otherwise didn't have the appropriate equipment. So I called Rivian, and after about another 30 minutes of being bounced around, I spoke with a "guide" (laughable) who, after I gave him my zip code, started rattling off a few places, the nearest of which was seven hours away. They were completely worthless. So after calling a few friends, I was referred to a shop as a favor, who ordered the tire and replaced it after of course I had to flatbed it there. $650 and several days later I got the car back.I wrote a letter to CEO ******** outlining what happened and the absolute lack of any customer support whatsoever, and also pointing out an unrelated serious flaw where the car suddenly dies when put in reverse, leaving me stuck in the middle of a busy street several times. I sent the letter Certified. I figured that one of his minions would see it and someone would respond. Months later . . . nothing.Beware. I think the company is in big trouble.Review fromDinesh K

5 starsI have been the initial depositors with thousand dollars for R1s in fall of 2022. I had been requested to configure in late December 2023. Configuration meant that vehicle would be delivered in 1-4 weeks. I had been assigned a VIN # for the vehicle and the final contract was signed and full payment of $105,707 and 82 sense was made. This was made electronically. I was subsequently informed that the vehicle could not be delivered as promised despite full payment and assigned VIN #. I had requested to cancel the contract and refund money. This was performed after those delivery dates were not tethered to. I was contacted by assigned guide ****** and she informed me that I will be refunded my money that I paid. It has been more or less 6 weeks and I am unable to still get an answer and I demand to get interest as it appears to be a large amount of money that they have not refunded. There are no other contact persons to talk to other than the assigned guide. I am frustrated and report this as failure of good business and would like to have this reported and further investigated for their procedure. ***************** personnel should be able to review this for their quality management as a national companyReview fromStephen F

1 starRivian has a predatory practice in their ordering. Online, I attempted to cancel my order but clicked the wrong checkbox, and it immediately made my $1,000 deposit non-refundable. After calling and emailing immediately the company. They finally answered 1 hour later and said it's not possible to refund the deposit. I will now be suing them in small claims. It is no wonder they have been a party to so much litigation. They are a dishonorable company and I would never buy a vehicle from these people.
