Case #: ******** *****, Loan Processor, **************** Representative at Federal Student Aid She recommended I should submit a complaint because I called regarding a loan forgiveness company that promised to pay off my loans if I paid $39.00 per month, over the past two years, starting in around September/August or October of 2022, now being December 27th, 2024, total I have paid just about $937 to them, and have not paid ANY of my actual federal loan debt. I sought to find out if this was a scam a long time ago but couldn't find out for certain if it was because it looked and sounded very legit, it was also during the time when ***** was offering this to certain criteria of people, I was deceived and should have known. It is not a legit company, it looked like they paid off all my federal loans, but they did not. The company name I am speaking of is "Refined Documents" ********************************************************** I have more photos for evidence, proof and that this is a lie, scam and illegitimate company and I am hoping for a refund if possible and to share why I haven't been paying anything on them. They said they would pay for my loans as long as i made a monthly payment of $39, income based driven payment method, for **************************************************************************** advance. They have contacted me to update my billing and payment information but never to confirm my status of loans left or anything that a loan service provider would actually do. Sadly I learned about this wayy to late. So again it started in 2022, September, August or October, and I've been paying them monthly for that amount for two years and today's date is 12/27/2024. I have contacted the federal student aid and will be calling aidvantage next week when they are in the office. I just need confirmation about the status of my loans and if there is also any chance to get it forgiven or other options available if any. Thank you so much & I hope to hear from you soon! ***** *********Initial Complaint

I am reaching out in hopes to raise awareness about a company who frames themselves as a Student Loan Forgiveness servicer, when in fact they are just a company who charges a service fee to prepare documents and keep track of your student loans. This was most definitely not explained to me when I agreed to sign with Refined Documents. I signed a contract with Refined Documents back in January of 2022 and have been making monthly payments thereafter. Recently I started receiving email correspondences from a company by the name of AidVantage, which is a student loan servicer through the US ********** of ********** I made an online account for AidVantage thinking that they bought out Refined Documents, as banks and loans get sold all the time. When I logged on to AidVantage, I noticed that the balance of my student loans had actually INCREASED from the time that I signed with Refined Documents. I then called AidVantage to clarify, and it was then that they advised me that they had never heard of Refined Documents and that they (AidVantage) were my current loan servicer. They advised me to call the Depatment of Education to get directions on next steps, and they advised that I reach out to the BBB as they also had never heard of Refined Documents. Before doing so, I did some further research and found that thousands of people have fell victim to Refined Documents. Though I am the one who made the mistake and didn't read the fine print and all of the red flags, I am praying that you might be able to help me get back some of the money that I have paid this company over the last almost 2 years. It is hard enough making ends mean with 3 children in today's world, the last thing I needed was to be paying money to some scam company. I would be forever grateful to get some of this money back to actually apply it to my student loans, where I thought it had been going all along.Initial Complaint

Refined Document Services reached out to me with information about my loans and other personal information. ******* stated that my loan of over 31K was consolidated into about 12k, so I wouldn't have to pay different interest rates. From February 2022 to June 2022 I made five monthly payments of ****** and from July 2022 to October 2023 I have made sixteen monthly payments of *****. It wasn't until my loan servicer reached out to me to begin a payment plan and I was advised to stop all payments as that company is a scam and receives payment information on false pretenses. I have notified the company I want to cancel all future payments and would like a refund. In total I have paid ****.oo dollars that I was initially led to believe were towards my "consolidated loans".Initial Complaint

June 2022 RefinedDocumentS.com contacted me stating they could get my student loans forgiven. I would need to pay $199.80 per month for 5 months, $29 per month for 36 months, and then $0 for 230 months. The loan would then be forgiven. It was called the Repaye program through the college cost reduction act. They were able to change my Federal Aid password and made it all seem legitimate. After paying a total of $1285 I was told by my credit union that it was a scam. I contacted the Refined Document Services and asked them to refund my money that I knew it was a scam and to not take any more from my account. They called saying I paid for services but could not tell me what the services were, and then tried to take $29 out of my account again that same day. The lady, ************, was rude and said she would contact management. I have contacted the *** and filed a complaint and will be filling with the Attorney General.Initial Complaint

In 2022, I was contacted by Refined Documents. They said that they would be able to take care of my student loans at a much lower price. They seemed very knowledgeable and said they were connected with the ********** of ************* several months, I paid close to $100 per month and it was reduced to approximately $40 at the beginning of 2023. I thought that this was great news. However, when I checked into my loans due to a consolidation, I discovered that nothing had been payed towards my student loan and every bit of the money I was paying was going towards a "recertification fee." I am now out quite a bit of money and nothing having been paid towards my student loan.Initial Complaint

I got a phone call from a lady telling me she was with refined documents and that with *****'s new forgiveness programs I could get my student loan paid off if I paid 5 months of payments from August to December of $199. So I did and they emailed me a paid in full paper and I got a paper in the mail around February stating that as soon as the hold got lifted off the loan forgiveness I would see the loan off my credit report and that it would be paid in full. Well today June 22nd 2023 I got a text stating it was refined documents and I needed to renew my contract with them and I told the person I made my last payment and that my loan was supposed to be paid off and informed them I had the paid in full letter. They responded RUDELY with either you can give me the payment information to renew your contract or you can handle it on your own. I told them I will be contacting a lawyer for being lied to and I decided to come on here. I want my $1,000 that I paid back so I can actually pay part of my loan since I was lied to and no payments have been made on my loan at all. I had to cancel my debit card so refined documents would try to take my money. I want an apology and my money back or I will take more legal action. Below you will see receipts for all 5 payments. Dates included on emails.Initial Complaint

This company reached out to me and presented themselves as a company to help consolidate and repay loans. They offered to to help take care of my student loans if I made a payment each month for 6 months and then my student loans would be repaid and closed out. I paid an estimated $184 to this company for 6 months. I was contacted by the college today and informed no payments were ever made on my behalf and my balance has remained the same. So I was robbed of approximately $1,104. I was taken advantage of by a company that misrepresented themselves.Initial Complaint

In late June of 2022 I received an unsolicited phone call from a company claiming that if I joined their program they could get my student loan debt relieved completely. I was highly skeptical of this process at first and mentioned my suspicions with their representative. The representative made me believe they were in partnership with the department of education and that by the end of the program my student loan debt would be gone. I agreed and started making monthly payments of $166.50 to the company, they gave me the impression this was being paid on my student loan balance yet they were keeping the money for themselves. They misrepresented their intentions from the very start and the company is a complete scam. I even attempted to cancel my arrangement with them before the first payment was made and they continued to take the payments from my account every month. For the next several month I ended up paying them over $1000, again I was under the false impression this was being paid onto my student loans. It was a complete scam and the end result of their service was not what they promised, instead of having my debt relieved completely all they did was file an application on my behalf that delayed me from paying off my student loans. I could have been paying down the balance with this money but they kept the money and got my payments to be pushed back to a later time. They scammed me from the very beginning and took advantage of me at every turn. I do not make very much money at my job to begin with and they were happy to fleece me of what little income I have. They made false claims about their intentions, they didn't cancel my payments when I had requested and they did not fulfill the promises that were made to me by their representative. I am seeking a full refund of the money they took from me and an apology for how they attempted to mislead me and scam me of my money.Initial Complaint

Date: 12/9/22 Amount: $239.80 was told due to underwriting that this would not be processed right away but it very much was.I called the company to cancel the and was told the girl i spoke with just went to lunch. I said i wanted to cancel as I did some preliminary research and was not interested in what the program was offering as it was not legit/scam. I was told this was a part of the ***** Student Loan relief program, and to find out that his program was not fully approved that you would opt in to the **** or RE**** Plans to assist with loan relief after 20yrs that you do not have to go through an outside program to use. This company told me if i paid so much in 5 payments that my loan would all be forgiven... How?? They give you no time to do any research, everything is rushed and your put on the spot. At this time they have not responded to the email i sent on 12/9/22 to cancel.Account: Client ID - *********
