This is my second time filing a complaint regarding The Mercury News (Bay Area News Group) as I believe they did not keep their part of the agreement from my last complaint. About a month ago, a teenage boy asked if I wanted to sign up for a trial and said at the end of the trial period, the subscription wouldnt continue. To end the conversation, I paid $20 in cash and he assured me that the subscription wont renew after the trial ends. It didnt sit well with me that they have my information and I did a quick research and found that this has been going on for years. I contacted the company using the number they provided but it wouldnt go through. Thats when I filed a complaint here on bbb. I requested them to remove my information from their system because I did not want to be receiving anything (subscription/news/renewals) from them as I am not interested. They reply to the complaint stated that they didnt have me in their system yet, but will honor my request. Fast forward to a month later, I receive a subscription notice by mail from them. I even had an account number with them already even if I made clear before that I want them to remove all my information from their system.

I have a Mercury News subscription. On Friday July 28, 2023, they charged $250+ to my credit card to renew a yearly subscription. On the following Monday (July 31), I called to cancel. They told me their ****************** would get back to me. After calling them twice more when I didn't hear back, they told me they will not refund me because of their policy. This is not right!! My previous one-year term was shortened to 11 months because of a rate increase mid-term. Ignoring the fact that raising rates for prepaid customers is unfair, this change meant that I was not expecting my renewal to come so early. I was not given sufficient notice about my renewal date.Mercury News, do the right thing and refund my balance

I have a subscription to the East Bay times I paid for a year of Sunday newspapers and I have no gotten my paper since April and when I call to complain they hang up on me and will not refund my account the entire amount I paid for the paper, they also do not care that there is no one to service my area and I have called every Sunday to get my paper and no one brings it out and I end up going to a store to buy the paper which means I am paying for the paper twice. this morning called twice and was hung up on by a person at a call center who does not reside in the US and cannot help with any kind of customer service except to offer me $2.00 which is not customer service, they lie and tell you they are management when they are simply call center employees in another country

I cancelled my Sunday delivery of the Mercury News in October 2022, but they started delivering the Sunday paper again. I phoned them and told them I did not want the newspaper delivered and I do not want it sitting in my driveway while I'm on vacation, essentially advertising to everyone my home is vacant. Despite my request, they've delivered the newspaper 3 more times creating a safety issue for my home.I want the Mercury News to stop delivering the newspaper and to never start delivering again unless I have requested it.
