On January 27, 2025 I bought two Triple Defender Stun Batons with Flashlight for $113.90 from Self Defense Products. One was $56.95. I called and talk to ***** for instruction for the stun baton. I noticed the glass on the flashlight had a chip no I told him. ***** said to send a picture and I sent a couple text. I called a ***** and he said the pictures were not very good. It it was hard to take a picture of the glass because it was dark. He got irritated and finally said he would send another and get two for the price of one. I felt he thought I was lying. I tried to not get upset. I never received it and I did not get my money back for one which was $56.95.Initial Complaint

Ordered a product from Defense Products *** in July, never received the product. Inquired and was assured it would be coming, then when I had enough after two months of waiting they wont issue a refund, dragging out the process by asking if I have done a charge back. Hello BBB,
On a personal note, this is becoming ridiculous, some of these people doing this sort of thing with no merit, and even outright lies such as this baseless complaint. We don't mean to be insensitive, but we are seeing a pattern develop over the past few months with some people doing desperate things with the online merchants.

After sending this email stating no problem to cancel, we asked the customer to verify they have not asked their credit card company to reverse the charges so we could initiate the refund. He never replied.
Next, we get a message form the BBB a complaint.
We again sent another email to the customer asking the same thing and this time he replied after filing a complaint with BBB and this is his reply and if you read closely the words used sounds like a child and immature person just out trying to make trouble. And the merchant bank does want us to ask if charges been reversed as there is a new problem with credit card users trying to get double refunds. Nobody has an issue asking this question until now with this person:

?Youre not required to, but your childish response is just the perfect response to me making a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.I have not done a charge back because I havent had a reason to. I did have a reason to contact the better business bureau and will continue to update them in the way you conduct business. Hopefully you will fix your ways or just go out of business. Terrible service, worse customer service.

As for your order, it was a preorder reservation with a ***** discount.
You always had a right to cancel and only needed to ask.Thus, we asked a question and could have completed this hours ago.
We will get this submitted now and appreciate you letting us know.
Please allow 2 - 7 business days for the credit to be posted to your credit card account.
Last, we are very established since 2006, with much of our business with law enforcement, state and even government. Civilian orders are important to us too.
We are truly sorry this preorder did not meet your timeline and happy to give you the discount ****** price early next month should you still need a Pulse.

Last we initiated refund request as soon as he confirmed did not request credit card to reverse charges. We even took the high road and offered to get him the preorder discount price later verse having to pay the regular price of an additional *****.
This complaint has no merit, the customer lied about us not wanting to give a refund and should be removed without delay.

Business posted a fraudulent listing and didn't indicate the product is not in stock. I purchased the Taser pulse and never received tracking information. Instead the scammers told me they are keeping my money as an interest free loan until some indefinite date where the product may be in stock again they also tried to force me to buy items that cost over 1000 dollars and so far have refused to provide me a refund. I am willing to take this matter to class action litigation as I see many others struggling with similar fraudulent activities from this vendor.Business Response

Hello BBB and thank you for alerting us to this complaint, which has zero merit.
Here are the facts:
1) The offer is a legitimate online offer to preorder the Pulse with a $90.00 discount for a limited time.
2) The disclaimer is clearly posted above the description of the product stating that this is a preorder offer (screenshot included).
3) The customer selected free shipping and after only six hours was asking for tracking information. Our terms and conditions clearly state that 24 to 48 hours are required for processing. We knew something was wrong when the customer asked for tracking information only six hours after placing the order. We have been in business since 2006, and it is very rare for a customer to ask for tracking information so soon after placing an order. In fact, we suspect fraud purchase when we see this.
4) We responded to the customer reminding them that this was a preorder reservation and that the order would be shipping later in September.
5) The customer then asked for a refund, which we initiated within 12 hours of the order being placed.
6) We did offer other alternative Taser options if the customer's need was urgent and they could not wait for the preorder to ship.Summary;
We have been in business since 2006 and the business is well established that includes law enforcement, state and government orders in addition to civilian orders. The offer for the Pulse is a legitimate preorder offer that is clearly posted above the description and specs for the product.

After we responded to the customer's request for tracking just 6 hours after ordering. He requested refund which we initiated without delay. We never refused to issue a refund which is a total fabrication and dishonest statement by this customer..
All the other comments by this customer just so ridiculous not even worth responding to.
We are a high-volume online seller and rarely do we see this type of issues. Unfortunately, there are some out there looking to file complaints and just outright false misleading statements such as this complaint.
We have the right to refuse business to any consumer and we have removed this customers rights to ever shop with us in the future.

I ordered an item in Aug. 2023 which showed on website as being in stock, no indication of backorder, and paid for it through checking account. Contacted them by email and text several times after not receiving and being told (after the fact) that the item was backordered. The person I spoke with and texted (***) tried to press me into accepting a substitute item in another version, which I did not want. I ordered from this site because I specifically needed this particular version of the itemand it did not indicate backorder when I originally placed the order. I also never received an initial email with order confirmation although the funds were withdrawn from my account. I am under the impression this business is dishonest based on my communications and experience with them. Never received the item nor have I received a refund after 8 months. I am out of pocket $175 and still do not have the item I ordered, cannot get satisfaction after several attempts. (Too bad zero stars is not an option for rating.) Order number was #******** for a ProShield Prym I Bulletproof Backpack in Camoflage pattern. Exact amount I paid was $173.75 which was $159.99 for the item and $13.76 shipping charges.Initial Complaint

On February the 22nd of this year
Received a email that order was canceled and the amount of $399.99 was going to be refunded, The seller responded to allow 5 business days or more for refund and since the Ive been sending email and got not responded yet. I contacted my bank and said since I authorized the transaction I cant open a case. Money not received yet. This company is a scammer.Business Response

Will get back to you but for the record the customer does have the product and was signed for. We shipped to the address the credit card holder was approved for. The customer tried to get us to ship top an alternative address the bank did not approve to be shipped to.
Long story short the customer does have the product and the complaint is not valid or true.

I ordered and received a Sonic Animal Chaser for $29.95 from Home Self Defense Products. I installed a battery depressed the trigger for the sound and did not get a sound and the trigger froze. The infra red pin light comes on but the sound mechanism is inoperable and that is the feature I most wanted to use. I got an email to provide a review of the product and informed them of this issue and requested an authorization to return the product for a refund. I got an apology but no response about returning the product. I mailed the product back to the address from which it was shipped and it came back as undeliverable. This address was vacant. Just want other potential customers to know that 1. The product did not work and 2. Customer service for the return of defective merchandise is nonexistent.
