1 starI regret not reading the BBB reviews before visiting the Tractor Supply location in Antelope, California. Based on my experience, many of the negative reviews appear to be accurate.
I encountered several issues during my visit. First, the pricing listed online was misleading—services were nearly double the price when I arrived, and this discrepancy wasn’t disclosed until after I had waited in line for nearly an hour. More troubling, however, was the unprofessional and inappropriate behavior of a staff member. She spoke to me in a demeaning and hostile manner in front of others, made an unnecessary comment about my dog’s weight, and dismissed my concern about safety around larger dogs.
This experience was upsetting and unacceptable. I plan to file a formal complaint with Tractor Supply’s corporate office and am consulting with an attorney regarding possible next steps. Given the pattern of customer complaints, I believe this location needs serious accountability and oversight.Review fromCharity E

1 starWe preregistered for a pet clinic at tractor supply. We drive 30 minutes. Then we waited and waited and waited. When there was only 15 mins left in the clinic timeframe, my husband went in to make sure we would get in. The lady was rude, and said they had preregistered 28 pets and had only seen 4. Then they texted everyone and told them to just bring their pets in and stand in line. That was a stupid idea. That many dogs all together trying to stand in line was not smart. We ended up leaving and not getting any of the services we needed.Review fromLaura W

1 starI had a heartworm/tick disease blood test done on my dog on 5/24/2025. I received a phone message 5/28/25 that she tested positive for anaplasma phagocytophilum and to follow up with our regular vet for treatment. At my regular vet she tested negative. I incurred a vet charge of $161.75 to retest her and she was actually negative for the tick disease that VIP's lab indicated she was positive for. I tried to call the 1-800 number and was on hold for over 20 minutes before asked to leave a callback number. I would appreciate an opportunity to discuss this discrepancy in results but it appears that none will be possible.Review fromAlisa W

1 starThe nastiest people you will ever meet in pet care. I brought my cat in to one of their Tractor Supply Co. locations for initial vaccines. He's an old, sweet stray that is typically docile and lets me give him baths and blow dry him. He was stressed in the carrier and hissed. The interns or whatever washed up people work there immediately said they couldn't see him because they have a door open and he might bolt. As they're explaining this, I see them holding down a dog on a table that's trying to run away while getting its shots. I tried to explain that he's old and docile and does very well with vet care because I've taken him to urgent care in the past. The biggest concern seem to be that he could run away... I explained that my domesticated cats s would be more likely to bolt and more stressed than he was. They wouldn't let me finish a sentence, were wildly disrespectful in tone, and told me they only service "good cats". Ex. The way they spoke to me was in a sarcastic, disrespectful tone as if they were explaining a simple concept to me like I was stupid. I was blown away by the unprofessionalism, the hypocrisy, and the disinterest in helping animals. I wouldn't hire a single one of them to mop bathroom floors. Vip pet clinic needs to explicitly State on their website that they don't have locations with confined rooms, they don't take cats that are stressed in public or hiss, and that they keep an open door for animals to escape through. There is no VIP treatment to speak of and it's a wonder they see any cats at all. Don't take your animals here, don't waste your money, and don't waste your time. The company is obviously not doing well and have no choice but to hire despicable human beings.Review fromMonica M

I wish I saw the previous review from J*** regarding the rabies vaccine. I have taken my dogs to the vaccine clinics before and had no problems. I took my dog to get a rabies booster, previous one had not expired yet and was actually given by VIP Pet Care, and they issued me a one year certificate. I should have checked it before I left, but given my last vaccine was a 3-year one I assumed I would get the same. I’ve spent over 30 minutes waiting in the customer service queue and finally hung up. You get what you pay for. I’ll go to my regular vet going forward. Shady!VIP Petcare

M*****- I am very sorry that you were experiencing a longer than normal wait time when you attempted to reach out to us. I was able to locate your account, update the rabies to 3 years, and emailed you an updated copy of the record.Review fromJohn B

We brought our two dogs to Tractor Supply in Farmington, CT store on 3/15-25 to get our dogs rabies vaccine from Vip petcare. We were satisfied with the service, but when we got the certificate we were informed that since we did not have documented proof with us that they were vaccinated up to date that we could only get a one year vaccine cert. We advised them that we had the documentation but not with us and we were told that we had to contact vippetcare by phone or on line to give them the documentation and they could then give us the three year vaccine. I have been trying for the last two days to get thru by phone and just get put on hold immediately and then no one picks up and I have called three times and once waited 25 minutes before hanging up. I have also tried thru their website without getting anyone. After checking with the Better Busines Bureau I have found that they are not accredited with them. It seems that they are a scam company. If this issue is not resolved soon I plan on contacting the local news to have this investigated, which will not be good for Tractor Supply's reputation.VIP Petcare

I apologize for your experience. We are a nationwide company with one call center that handles all locations. I have responded to your email inquiry and am requesting you send us your pet's previous vet records for review. In order for a customer service representative to adjust a medical record, the vaccination given by PetIQ must have been given within the time frame documented on the previous veterinary record, meaning the previous vaccine would not have expired/been overdue by even one day.Review fromCynthia D

Scam company won’t honor the 12 month prescription I paid for bc their “policy “ is to make you pay for another visit !!!VIP Petcare

Pet parents do not pay for a prescription. Pet parents pay for the heartworm tick-borne disease test that allows for you to receive 12 doses of prevention to protect for another year as the heartworm test needs to be done yearly. Customer Service provided the approvals for your pet to have 12 doses with the pharmacy of your choosing. Customer Service has the ability to approve 12 doses of heartworm prevention per heartworm test, per pet, per year.Review fromJennifer S

1 starWe had an awful experience with this service.
As new pet owners, we were advised that vets were very expensive and that we should seek alternative options.
Our cat had to be rehomed and as an indoor/outdoor cat in their previous environment, we wanted to get our cat checked for feline leukemia, as well as to get our cat microchipped.
We stepped into Pet Supplies Plus to bring our cat to the clinic. As soon as we were in line, us and our cat were treated like we were on an assembly line.
There was a person asking ours and our cats details while we stood in line. After a few short questions they advised that it would be over $200.
We questioned why it was so much more than we expected and they told us that we had to pay for all vaccines since we didn’t bring in paperwork to show the vaccines our cat previously had received with their prior owner. They also listed quite a few fees.
Before the lady finished listing these fees, the vet on duty screamed across the store that our cat had fleas and did we know that she had fleas. They demanded another $91 in front of a line of people.
We were shocked and mortified. We felt on the spot to keep dishing out money.
Our cat was already being given Advantage Plus on a monthly basis to protect her from fleas and ticks. We had never seen her scratch once since we’ve had her, neither before or after the treatment.
So what could we say or do with all of these people staring at us, thinking we brought a flea infested pet into close contact with their pets.
After getting this stressful experience, we left the store and realized that they hadn’t honored the 20% off coupon that I informed them of while we were in line.
The lady also got our name incorrect as well as our cats breed, even sending the incorrect information to the microchip company.
I’ve tried to contact this company to no avail. They never returned my call to the voicemail I left, to try and rectify the situation.Review fromBarbara S

These people have NO idea what they are doing! They listed my puppies as the wrong breed! They gave two puppies born on the same day two different sets of shots! They went back and forth on whether or not their first set of shots were valid because they received them at 7 weeks! AKC guidelines clearly shows 6-8 weeks as appropriate for first set of shots. They just wanted to charge for the first set again, but missed it on the first puppy! They're ridiculous and none of them understand what they're doing. I was so confused and kept asking what was happening and everyone gave me a different answer! They independently made the decision about which vaccine MY puppy should receive and gave them without even discussing it with me! I will never go back there and would recommend everyone who cares about their pets STAY AWAY!!!VIP Petcare

Thank you for providing this feedback. Please call our customer service team at 1-800-427-7973 or email [email protected] if you would like us to update your pet records with the appropriate breed. In busy clinics, clerical errors do happen, but we are happy to correct this at any time. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Regarding the vaccines; feedback received from the clinic staff explains that the staff member at check-in was told that the puppies received their first set of vaccines at 8 weeks, then revised that to 6 weeks when you were at the vet station. The veterinarian did note in the records that our Puppy Visit 2 was given during this visit, and because of the correction you provided, that Puppy Visit 2 should be repeated for the next visit to ensure there are no further errors. The vaccines the pets received were age appropriate, and the supervisor on staff explained all of this to you on site, and said there were no issues at the time or dissatisfaction.
If you would like to discuss this matter further, we are happy to speak with you. Our customer service team is available 7 days a week at the above contact information. We also have online chat available on our websites.

1 starIf I could give it a zero I would. In my opinion they're running a bait and switch scam. On their website they list a 5-in-1 vaccine for dogs, at package prices of $110 and $119. Nowhere in the descriptions for these service packages does it say 'does not include rabies'. I went there thinking I would pay $110, with no earthly clue that 5-in-1 would not include rabies. Google search shows the top 5 vaccinations for dogs, and lists rabies as #1. I doubt I'm the only one who looked at '5-in-1' and simply assumed it included rabies. Additionally, nowhere in the descriptions does it ever state what the '5' means. They do not list the supposedly 5 vaccines customers get with those packages. When I was checking in (they started 20 minutes later than the advertised time), I was told (lo and behold) neither the $110 or $119 packages included rabies. I would have to buy the rabies separate, or go with the $139 package. Huge ripoff, and in my opinion they know exactly what they're doing. The local 'supervisor' at PetSense on Murfreesboro Road in Franklin, TN, is the one who changed the pricing in real time, and I suspected she knew exactly what she was doing. I was there today, 9/24/2023.I showed them their website descriptions for the packages, and she doubled-down on defending the company. Because of a timing issue, I paid the $139. Never again with them or PetSense, a Tractor Supply company. Caveat emptor everyone. https://www.vippetcare.com/services-pricing/service-packages/.
