    The outstanding debt is from emergency services from a Trauma Physician.  Services had to be performed as the consumer had a life-threatening condition.  The consumer's health insurance did not cover the full expense.  There are no signed documents.

    We have a bill from the emergency room doctor when you were Lompoc Valley Medical Center.  We have marked the account as disputed and have recently mailed a detailed statement to the consumer.  This may be related to an auto accident, but we have no information about any auto insurance covering this bill.  This is the responsibility of the consumer.

    Weber & Associates, Inc. somehow has the power to negatively impact our credit scores through fraudulent reports of debt, claiming Optum healthcare as a client. Today, 9/27/23, I received a letter from Greg Maxkelso of Weber & Associates stating that I have a debt of $63.12 from a service on 7/1/21, with a balance of $50 and interest of $13.12. There is no service location, and no details as to what service I owed payment for.
    There is no option to pay Optum directly. Instead, the letter directs me to a payment portal: pay.weberandassociates.org. It also has the option of mailing in a credit card payment to “Weber & Associates Acct”.
    Furthermore, my patient portal with Optum does not state that I owe any charges from anytime in 2021. In fact, my balance was 0 recently. I believe this is a scam.
    I have paid Weber & Associates in the past. At that time, I was also not aware of any debt until I received their letter. I am looking into a class action lawsuit.

    All credit bureaus have taken all medical debt off the consumer's credit report if the debt is medical related as of 3/31/23 and the balance is under $500.  The outstanding debt balance is under $500 so this should not be reflected on the consumer's credit report.  We will have the details for the balances due mailed to the consumer.

    I am rejecting this response because: my current billing account with Optum shows no medical debts from 2021. Yet I received a letter from Weber & Associates stating that I owe medical debt to Optum for 2021 and that I owe interest payable to Weber & Associates. I have only to conclude that this is a fraudulent billing collection. Weber and Associates needs to refrain from sending collection letters to consumers/healthcare patients for debts that have already been paid.

    Our client Optum typically zeros out any invoices that are referred for collections.  Thus, if all a patient's invoices are paid except for their invoice that is in collections, Optum's system will show that everything is paid, when in fact there may be open invoices still in collections. We have sent the details to the consumer who can then contact Optum directly and ask questions about the invoice still in collections.

    Debtor's health insurance denied claim as the insurance wanted some information from the debtor.  The debtor never provided the insurance with the information requested so the claim was denied.  Balance is now owed from the debtor.
