DESCRIPTION SENT TO THE HIRE A HELPER:
We contracted through Hire a Helper. I have filed a claim with Hire a Helper as well however they are not adequately providing reimbursement for the destroyed items. They stated we should speak with ***** ** ***** as well.
The images attached were sent to Hire a Helper as well. Blankets, shrink wrap, and tie downs were provided for all sensitive items. Though the team was reminded numerous times, we found that some items were not wrapped according to our instructions. We had two wardrobe boxes with blankets left at the end, so it wasn't a quantity concern.
At this point I am set with logging complaints with AG office, BBB, and filing with small clams court.
We demand a refund for the following..
$***** to replace the items damaged by the Moving company in **. They negligence and destruction led to damaged items.
$***** to have the furniture refinished as the items were poorly wrapped by your team and sustained visible and irreconcilable damage
Total is $***** to replace the items damaged by the negligent movers. We would like to have this devastating move put behind us so we can move on from this traumatic negative experience.
We await your response,

Dear BBB in regard to Hire a Helper,
I am rejecting your response to my concerns. I have filed a
lawsuit against Hire a Helper as they didn’t hold up to their end of the
commitment.
During the moving process Hire a Help was contracted to
provide a moving team to package and load our personal belongings. During the
move I had to remind the team constantly to utilize the blankets and tie-downs
we provided. The moving team was told multiple times during the packing and
loading that all items made of wood were to be wrapped in shrink wrap, blankets
and tie-downs. I had to have them pull two items that I could see , that didn’t
meet my instructions. The team had to unpack and wrap and then repack each time
causing me a greater expense in the time allotted.
When our items arrived in **** the unloading team provided
by Hire a Helper informed us there were wood items that weren’t wrapped and
suffered significant damage. In addition, our Washing machine wasn’t strapped
down, the front loader was damaged as if someone opened the front door and
kicked it in, the hoses were still on the unit, and the washer stable screws
weren’t placed in the machine. The entire washing machine had to be replaced.
My complaint is from the quality of service and complete
disregard for our belongings, instructions, and eventual catastrophic damage to
our personal items. Hire a Helpers goal: “Our goal was simple: to create
positive moving experiences. We wanted to make how moving companies interact
with their customers way easier (and way better)”; was not met. They didn’t
hold up their end to pack, store and ship our goods.
As of 7/22/24 I have filed a small claims court affidavit
and will seek retribution for the misrepresentation and mishandling of our
goods.

At this time we have initiated a small claims court case for $***** in damages. I would be willing to settle for $**** which will cover the cost of the destroyed washing machine and couch.
I will have to deal with the fact that your negligence in utilizing the blankets provided caused damaged to my bedroom furniture and antique family heirlooms.
thank you,

We booked movers through HireaHelper's website ***********. They had great reviews and we thought they would be great in helping us pack our ***. I would submit a complaint for the moving company itself, but they are not even listed on BBB so I am requesting financial assistance because this company was vetted by HireaHelper.
Movers were scheduled to arrive between 9-10 on 6/20/24, I received call that am that team would not be arriving until 1pm; 2 movers arrived around 1:10pm, not in uniform and with no moving supplies (both uniformed employees and moving supplies) indicated as included on HireaHelper site), We showed the two what needed to be moved, and they were confident all of our things would fit in our Large ***, and said they were seasoned with packing ***s.
It quickly became clear they were inexperienced in moving. They could not move a bureau down the stairs so it had to be left (loss of $***), and had a lot of trouble with our large couch (moving these two pieces of items took up about an hour of our 3 hour time). Trying to move the bureau also damaged the wall and ceiling of the home we were renting.
My largest complaint is that the the movers did not pack the *** as efficiently as I had seen. They left about 3 feet from the ceiling open, there was open spaces not used throughout the ***, and although we provided bungees and straps, none were used. In addition, heavy storage bins were loaded on top of our pillow top couch, as opposed to standing the couch upright in the ***.
Since we were moving halfway across the country, because of the inefficient and poor packing of this company, we had to order another small *** for the cost of $**** (fortunately ***s was willing to give us a discount for our troubles, otherwise it would have been over $**), but we had to wait 2 days for it's arrival. Bc of this, we had to stay in ******** two additional days, needing 2 hotel room stays at the cost of $*** a night, and each take an additional day off from work.Business Response

I hired this company for a 4 hour moving job on June 13, 2023 for which I provided my credit card for payment and received confirmation of my scheduled move. Yet I was notified yesterday by phone, "the mover does not have availability," They offered to find a different crew for that same shift, informing me "this is the only available crew for your area". Yet after putting me on hold for 5 minutes, I was told, "they confirmed they do not have availability for this day". I already rented a truck under the expectation that the movers I hired would be using it, now I am out that money. On top of the fact, have to start all over again trying to find a different moving company at the last minute.Business Response

Thank you for reaching out about your experience, ****** and *************************. We are sorry to hear the crew cancelled on your service a few days before service. As a reminder, HireAHelper is an online marketplace that helps you compare and hire local moving labor providers. You have hired Alpha Moving Assistance, not HireAHelper. Alpha Moving Assistance is not employed by HireAHelper, nor is HireAHelper contracting this Helper on your behalf. We attempted to locate an alternative option but was unable to find a local mover with availability.

Hire A Helper provided us with "reputable" movers. *****, senior advisor, said to me that this movers were "some of the best" when speaking with him on the phone on June 3rd at 12:45pm EST. The movers provided were 1 hour and 45 minutes late from the 6pm-7pm window, arriving at 8:45pm. We asked the movers to leave at 10:45pm (the end of our 2hr prepaid window) because in that time the movers only moved in a couch into the unit. They were also able to bring up two mattresses, two headboards and the second piece of our couch to our floor. However, my partner and I are the ones who helped unload them from the elevator because at that time to help expedite the process. ****** from * * * ****** claims that he provided a third worker to us, free of charge, however that third worker was not present for most of the process. When I went down to the truck to check on the workers, he was not even on the property at that point. Since we only paid for two workers, I did not mind, but ****** at * * * ****** is using the third worker as a ploy to rectify his worker's inability to work effectively.
We tried contacting Hire A Helper during the move via the automated system provided by texting "help" as suggested, but received no communication via text or phone call. This might be due to the company being closed at this time, so unfortunately we were not able or resolve the movers tardiness or their work in real time. We did speak with ****** at * * * ****** and he said he would speak with the movers and return my phone call, but never called me back.
The movers of * * * ****** also caused severe damage to many of the pieces of furniture as well as our home. They stated that they would bring Dollys, furniture movers and protective covers. However, the movers only provided two furniture movers. Many of our pieces have large oil stains from being placed on the ground outside, as well as severe tears that are not fixable.Business Response

On 5-17-24 I used HireAHelper to hire movers. The moving company provided is ******** ****** of *******. I wanted to support the military so I went forward with them, the movers who showed up weren't veterans. They were 1 skinny 18 year old with a probation record and another small guy who could drive the truck. I paid them $******* to move a 1 bedroom apartment less than *** yards to another 1 bedroom apartment. It took them 7 hours. They were being paid hourly and were talking on the phone to friends, slacking off and wasting time. I ended up doing an equal share of moving because they were so bad. They broke my tv stand, and my dresser, total value of ~$*** and reimbursed me only $**. This was a horrendous experience.
They need to be held accountable. I requested reimbursement for 2 hours and they wouldn't go above 1 hour. They are still "processing" this refund and haven't actually paid me yet.
This is so annoying and unprofessional. I would like to get a full refund from this company for doing such a terrible job and treating me in such an unprofessional way.Business Response

I have paid you guys the money as promised and they were late so they took that from me being late and when you guys had asked me if they can stop the clock because they started making more damages while on the job seems fishy to me. When the crew contacted hireahelper they seemed to be on it together. money talks you should of said I will give you $*** credit and if that was the case I would of declined it. The crew was late so you offered the $*** and the damages are totally different and for you to say my damages is only going to cost you $** after taking my money and doing illegal practices in hiring people who looked like couldn't even do the job well. On the phone the whole time, 1 looked old that he couldnt even pickup anything heavier than a box. Customers shouldn't have to help what's the point of hiring someone? I will only take a full refund so I can pay for the damages they did to my new rental home which I am liable to pay. The door they unhinged is broken so thanks for more damages and this was 1st believe me never again!Initial Complaint

I utilize this business for a local move. They contracted it out to a local moving company. During the move, the crew dropped my washing machine and damaged it severely. After moving to the new home, I plugged in the washer and showed the moving company that it did not work. The owner of the moving company hired a repair person and the estimate basically totaled the entire washer in need of replacement. I filed an insurance claim with this company and followed their rules. They refuse to talk to anyone over the phone about damage claims. They stated they will only communicate with you over email. This has been extremely unprofessional and time consuming. They require customers to follow certain timelines for claims but yet do not follow timelines themselves. I have spoken to numerous customer service representatives, who just simply tell me they cannot help me.Business Response

I was charged a cancellation fee for a move but i was wrongfully charged for this cancellation. The movers who came stated they were unable to do the move. I asked why and they said distance - i dont see anything in contract about distance- the truck/pod was parked in parking complex of where i was moving with equipment i provided and an elevator. The movers who came told me im better off hiring someone else. I called hire a helper moment this happened and told me id be charged a cancellation fee even tho i was not cancelling - the MOVERS Cancelled. They were not able to move me day they promised, i want my $240 back.Business Response

We appreciate the opportunity to address the complaint filed by ********************* regarding their recent experience with a service provider from our marketplace. We take all customer feedback seriously and strive to ensure a positive experience for each of our clients.
Upon reviewing the details provided, we would like to offer clarity on the events that occurred during the scheduled move. Our moving service provider (MSP) arrived at the customer's location prepared to carry out the agreed-upon services. However, it became apparent that the distance between the customer's residence and the storage pod was substantial, which would have extended the duration of the job beyond the initially estimated time-frame. Our MSP communicated this information to the customer, explaining the potential for additional time needed to complete the move due to the distance involved. Unfortunately, the customer expressed dissatisfaction with the situation and opted to cancel the service. Despite our efforts to address the concern and provide alternative solutions, including rescheduling the move for a more suitable time, the customer chose to proceed with the cancellation.
As per our company policy, cancellations made by the customer after our team has arrived at the location may result in a cancellation fee. We communicated this policy to the customer, who acknowledged the associated fee. We understand the customer's frustration and regret any inconvenience caused. However, it's essential to emphasize that our MSP made every effort to fulfill the job as agreed upon in the booking. We remain committed to providing reliable and professional moving services to all our customers. We hope that this explanation provides clarity on the situation. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you require any further information or assistance regarding this matter. We appreciate your attention to this issue and thank you for your assistance in resolving it.Initial Complaint

I hired HireAHelper to load my *** for a price of, $******. I scheduled with them for February 18, 2024, between 1000 & 1100 hours for arrival. The movers did not show up until 1125 hours. We are on a schedule. They had a very strong odor of marijuana, the male movers eyes were pinpointed and very gloss. The started arguing with me about them being late and told me that if I wanted them to be on time then I should have booked 0900-1000 hours. This made no sense at all. We went back and forth and then the female mover stated, we can leave if you want. I stated ,yes, leave. I dont need people moving my belongings while under the influence of something. I immediately called the company and spoke with ***. I told her what had just happened and she apologized and stated she was going to escalate it to her supervisor and he would be calling me. Well finally at 1205 hours, I received a call from *****, who supposedly is a LEAD. Once again I explained the situation and ***** states ok, let me look into this and try and find another crew for you. I asked him if he took all of the information down and he states, I will get back to you and I asked how long he states in awhile. Well 4 hours later still no call so I call back ask for him, now he is at lunch and ** told he will call you when he gets back, I will send him a priority message. Again, no call from *****, after 2 hours more, I call him back, *** answers the phone, she remembers me and says, hold please Ill get him. ***** picks up and states, hello ***************, what can I do for you. I say, what can you do, I never heard back from you, he says, well its Sunday and I cant get another crew. So I ask, then why did you not call me. ***** states, Im still waiting to hear from people. I said its not almost 1800 hours, this is ridiculous. Who is your supervisor, dead silence, I ask again, he finally states, *****, I asked is he there, no he is not. I told him I want a full refund. No response.Business Response
