On the night of April 16th at 8:40pm, I parked my Silver ******************* the 2 hour parking zone of the ***************************** between S main and W ********** in ***************. Within 20 minutes after parking, my car had been illegally towed by Quik Tow LLC. After arriving to the Quik Tow location and requesting for a private property owners request to tow, they were unable to provide me with documents on approval for towing my vehicle. I believe the tower towed my vehicle illegally without private owners request. I paid a total of $605 in fees in order to have my vehicle released from QuikTow LLC. After requesting a refund from the company, they both declined my request and blocked any telephone communication between me and them. I am hoping to get refunded for this unlawful and predatory towingInitial Complaint

I would like to file a complaint as an alleged victim of extortion by this towing company. On March 9th 2025, around 11:30 p.m. my car was towed from the parking lot of the ******************* on ********* in ********************** by this business. I immediately went to the business to collect the vehicle from the tow yard and arrived a little after 12:00 a.m. Monday, March 10th 2025. Upon arrival I spoke to an employee that identified himself as *****, and he handed me a itemized invoice of all the fees that totaled $670. One of the fees as can be seen in the attached image was an after hours release fee for $140. I tried to inquire about the fee and was never given a direct answer or explanation. He repeatedly insisted "that's just the fee". So to avoid paying more than necessary, I asked if I could come back during regular business hours at 8:00 a.m. and have the after hours fee taken off. Again, he refused to answer the question and insisted that I had to pay that $670 fee right then and there. I felt forced and trapped to pay the fee to avoid accumulating any more fees as they also had pricing signage posted for hourly rates which was also not explained upon request. I believe this is evidence of blatant extortion by this towing company that preys on motorist in parking lots around ********************** and *******I would also like to include that there was signage that showed an after hours release fee for $120 despite being charged $140 for the same fee on the invoice. I also have reason to believe that the individual that identified himself as ***** is actually the owner which would stand to reason that he should have been able to explain and articulate each of the charge on the invoice as well as give a satisfactory answer to the question of paying during regular business hours to avoid their after hour charge. I'm seeking resolution in the form of a billing adjustment as well as the business to to address their rates and pricing accurately clearly and accurately.Initial Complaint

Nature of Complaint:On March 22, 2025, Quik Tow LLC towed my vehicle (Plate #9NQN439) from a private commercial lot at or near ******************************************************. I was parked for under ten minutes in a marked space after business hours. The lot was empty, and the signage was mounted too high and poorly lit, making it unreadable from a car at night. They charged $605 to release my vehiclean amount I believe exceeds local legal limits and may violate California towing fee regulations.Issues: Unlawful Timing: Under California Vehicle Code *****, tow companies must wait at least one hour before towing from commercial lots open to the public unless specific safety exceptions apply. None applied here. Poor Signage: California law (CVC *****) requires clear, visible, and legible tow-away signs at each lot entrance. The posted sign failed to meet this standard. Lack of Documentation: I requested, and never received: A copy of the tow authorization from the property owner Time-stamped photos of the violation Law enforcement notification proof A breakdown of the $605 charge Unprofessional Communication: I reached out repeatedly. Quik Tow LLC replied vaguely, gave evasive answers, and ultimately ignored the 72-hour deadline I provided.Desired Resolution: A full refund of the $605 A formal acknowledgment of error Assurance that they will follow legal requirements moving forward If not resolved here, I will file complaints with the ************************, **************************************, LA County Consumer Affairs, and the CA Attorney General, and pursue civil recovery through small claims court.Initial Complaint

Quik Tow *************** (operated at *********************) this terrible company used predatory towing of custom cars called Satellite Towing. Two despicable tow truck drivers waited at the ******************* on ******************************* ********************** in the back alley at 11PM on 3/19/25 night to tow customs cars. The parking lot of the restaurant overlap next to an apartment complex parking. At night, customer cannot see the Tenant Parking sign, so these drivers waited for anyone who park and tow their cars away in minutes. I park only for 10 MINTUES to purchase a drink. They immediately tow my car. They lied saying the police gave permission. There was NO Police request and NO property owner request. They bullied me. The two driver said the only way to have my car back is to pay an IMMEDIATELY $300 DROP FEE. I was so scared of them I have to pay immediately or I have to walk 60 miles home at midnight home. Its is unjust and they will continue to find other unsuspected victims like myself.Business Response

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We take all complaints seriously and would like to provide clarification on the situation you described.
First and foremost, we want to clarify that Quik Tow *************** (operating out of **********************) is not affiliated in any way with Satellite Towing. The actions and incidents involving Satellite Towing that you referred to do not involve our company, and we want to make clear that we do not condone such behavior.
As for the towing incident you mentioned, we want to explain our procedures and the context surrounding our operations. Quik Tow is contracted by property management to remove vehicles that are not authorized to park in specific areas. All vehicles parked in these designated spots are required to have a valid parking permit. If a vehicle is parked without the proper permit or is in a restricted area, it is subject to towing.
In this specific case, our drivers are not stationed in or around parking areas unnecessarily, and we do not wait around for vehicles to tow. When a vehicle is parked in violation of the propertys parking regulations, we respond only after receiving a formal request from the property management.
It is also important to note that our drivers follow strict guidelines and legal requirements. If your vehicle was towed, it was because it was parked in a space where it was not authorized, as per the propertys parking guidelines. In addition, our company does not engage in predatory towing practices, and any claims of such behavior will be thoroughly investigated. Our goal is to maintain compliance with city regulations and to ensure that parking spaces are used fairly and properly.
Regarding the $300 drop fee, it is standard practice for towing companies to charge a fee for the release of a vehicle before it is taken to the storage lot, in line with industry standards and applicable regulations. We understand this situation was frustrating, but it is essential that all charges be paid in accordance with the established policies.
If you believe there was a misunderstanding or if you feel your vehicle was improperly towed, we would be happy to review your case further. Please provide any additional details you may have, including any relevant documents, and we will conduct a thorough investigation.
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.Initial Complaint

Quik Tows in ****** ILLEGALLY TOWED my car from handicap parking on 3/14/25. When I showed up to the facility, the police were there due to others being towed incorrectly. Quik Tows stated they took my car because placard was not in view, when police asked them for picture proof. Quik Tows picture only showed my car in a parking spot, while I showed the police a video stamped with *********** of my placard hanging in the window, right before I had left my car. The police told Quik Tows what they were doing is illegal as they had NO PROOF that my placard was not hanging. Once we all went back to my car, Quik Tows worker had MOVED my placard to the floor of the drivers seat, still trying to say it was not hanging after I had already showed police footage of my placard hanging. This place tried for charge me $600!! Thank god the police were there otherwise they wouldve forced me to pay. THEY ARE SCAMMERS, something needs to be done about this!Business Response

On February 26 2015 at approximately 230pm i was at the ******************** trying to get an oil change for my vehicle. While I was getting information and filling out paperwork apparently this tow company came and towed my vehicle away. When I came out to move my truck to get serviced it was gone. I asked the lady at the front desk about it. At first i thought my truck was stolen. She said that there is this ***************** in ****** that usually parks nearby and tows cars away for no apparent reason. She stated that it's happened a few times before. I was at their place of business parked properly in the stall. I called the ***************** regarding my truck and they blatantly lied and said that the gas station called. Which is not true because I was inside the station filling out paperwork the whole time to get serviced. The *** company said I needed to pay $475 for them to release my truck. That's insane. I was parked legally and at the place of business. When I arrived at the tow yard the man at the office was very rude and not wanting to listen to me. I asked them to contact the station to confirm that I was there legally. They refused and said that the best they can do for me was to charge me $265 instead of the $475 to release my truck. And if didn't pay within 5 minutes that the price would be raised again to $475. And if didn't accept those terms the fee would go higher and higher. And if i didn't like that then in his words "just sue us". That's outrageous. I was pretty much forced to pay because that's me and my family's form of transportation. Something needs to be done to this tow company. In my opinion they ILLEGALLY TOWED my truck and forced me to pay them money for them to release my truck. That's robbery. Also while I was there a lady came in to the tow office crying saying the tow company did the same thing to her. I read though the reviews from this tow company has and there is story after story about the same situation.Business Response

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We deeply value our customers and take all feedback seriously, as it helps us continually improve our service. We understand your frustration regarding the situation that occurred on February 26, 2015, and would like to provide some clarification from our perspective.
Regarding the incident at the ********************, we would like to highlight that our company operates in compliance with all local laws and ordinances pertaining to parking and towing. We respond to calls from businesses that request vehicles be towed for various reasons, including parking violations. It is our standard practice to ensure that vehicles are removed only after a proper request is made by the property owner or management. In this case, our records indicate that a request for towing was made based on the parking situation at the time.
We understand that you were in the process of receiving service at the gas station, but as a tow company, we must rely on the instructions from the business to tow vehicles that are not authorized to park in certain spaces. The gas station's staff informed us that your vehicle was not parked in accordance with their guidelines, which led to our action. We appreciate your understanding that businesses are responsible for managing their parking spaces, and towing is an essential part of ensuring that customers can park in designated areas.
Regarding the fee of $475, this is the standard fee for the towing and storage services we provide. However, in an effort to resolve this situation promptly, our staff offered a reduced release fee of $265, which is in line with our established procedures. We understand this fee may seem high, but it is reflective of the costs associated with towing and storage services, as well as the potential risk to our business if these fees were not collected in a timely manner.
We also regret if you felt our staff was unhelpful or rude. It is not our intention to make any of our customers feel uncomfortable. We have addressed this issue with our team to ensure that all interactions with customers are handled with professionalism and respect.
We understand that this situation was inconvenient for you, and we want to assure you that we are committed to improving our communication and service going forward. We also encourage you to reach out directly to the gas station to clarify the circumstances surrounding the parking issue and to confirm the steps taken by both parties.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. We are more than willing to discuss the matter in more detail to ensure that all parties involved understand the situation clearly.
Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to have the opportunity to resolve this matter to your satisfaction.
Sincerely, *****.Initial Complaint

I was at a cafe with my friends until I was approached by a man who was asking customers in the cafe whos car this was parked, in which i had stated it was my car, he then proceeded to tell me that my car was gonna be towed. Then he begins to threaten me stating that they are going to take it and I would have to pay $600 in order to retrieve my car back. However he said he will drop it for a fee of $300 cash or zelle only. This situation occurred at 11pm in which I believe that the tow truck was just patrolling the area by hiding behind a wall where others weren't able to spot him. The receipt I received contains no reason for tow and there was no signature from either me or the one who authorized the tow; I was not informed of the situation. There has also been other instances where the same situation occurred with the Quik Tow in the following area.Initial Complaint

My vehicle was towed from a restaurant I went to after me being there for only 30 minutes. When I went to retrieve my vehicle I was threatened by workers that I will not get my vehicle back simply because I asked for information. Date and time of tow is wrong and because of their mishandling of so many vehicles that they were being towed my bumper is scratched and loose now. I demand a full refund.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because What are the established guidelines and regulations ? What grounds did you have to tow my vehicle ? Why was my vehicle towed in the first place ? Can you send me paper work and also names of individuals that towed my vehicle as well as the call information if someone called to get my car towed ? All this information was refused from me obtaining. I will seek legal action because there was false information in regards to the towing of my vehicle. On November 7th, 2022 Quiktow was subcontracted by****** to tow my car from my garage to the****** parking lot in ********** due to an outage of the 12V battery. While being dropped off at the****** parking lot, the towing truck crashed ********************** onto a fence, leaving the front bumper damaged. When****** finished servicing the car and it was ready to be picked up a few days later, the damage was noticed by my husband and I. We got in touch with Quiktow about the damage and they initially denied it. Upon requesting the photos taken by the Quiktow driver prior to being towed ( and while still in my garage) , we noticed that photos provided were cropped and modified and photos taken at the****** parking lot (therefore AFTER being towed) showed the front bumper damage, proving that damage occurred after car was towed. I told the driver that it was clear that damage was caused by him, which was when he asked me to go to authorized body shops to get quotes so he would pay. Once quotes were sent to him, he stopped responding. I filed a claim with my insurance and they have not been able to get ahold of anyone at quiktow, therefore my car remains damaged.
Photo 1 (white wall in the background, which is my garage wall): photo provided by Quiktow which was cropped thus missing the front bumper.
Photo 2 (dark background which is a parking lot, therefore no longer in my garage): photo provided by Quiktow of the car after being towed to****** parking lot showing damage.
Photo 3: photo also provided by Quiktow showing the short fence that the car was crashed into.Business Response
