My son ***************************** passed away in a tragic car accident on October 04,2023 in ******, **. My son was 18yrs old and still living at home with myself and his 17yrs old sister. I am his next of kin and the sole provider for my son. Someone open a GoFundMe with my sons name, his picture and information stating that I (his parents) are asking for help! I have requested for this page to be closed after being up for 4-5 days of my sons transiting. The site was taken down and when I contacted the company about fraudulent activity and the rights of my sons has been violated the company does nothing but email back information which lead me in a circle. Money was collected to this person who organized this collection without my knowledge, without my consent. I plead for help because this is wrong. I did filed a police report against the organizers. The company GoFundMe responds as been all over the place. The company asked me to provide paperwork showing that I paid for the funeral expenses in which I provided then the company send me a response saying they are not able to refund me any donations. I replied stating I am not a donor and I was never requested anything refunded to me. The company send me a response that not aligned with anything that I have been trying to claimed.My son died and his picture and personal information has been used fraudulently. The information that was posted on this GoFundMe website by the organizer stating Parents are asking for donations etc This is fraud! I am **************************** only legal parents at time of his death. I have courts documents, my son and his 17yr old sibling and I have been living together. The organizer is no one we know, however we believe she is my ex husband sister but her last name appears different. Still, we have zero contact with these people for over 10yrs. This is fraud, and not only that, my son personal information has been used wrongly in a disgraceful manner towards his name. Please help.

I have been running a major fundraiser on GoFundMe for over 5 years now (***********************************************************************), using the funds raised to fund a humanitarian initiative aimed at documenting the victims of a mass incarceration crisis in northwest China. Over the years, we've accumulated a very large repository, have been nominated for multiple awards, and have been mentioned in many mainstream media outlets. There has never been an issue with our fundraiser once, and we've always worked very efficiently, transparently, and at very low "salaries".In October 2023, GoFundMe froze our transfers without warning and asked me to provide information about our staff (the people I paid with the money raised). Many of our staff are either direct or indirect victims of the mass incarcerations and many have relatives in ***** - consequently, they remain anonymous and I cannot disclose their identities. I have said this to GFM multiple times and asked them for justification in demanding such sensitive information, whether as specified by their terms of use or as required by the specific concerns they were trying to resolve. I also asked why this was suddenly necessary now, and what the concerns even were, given how little we spent and how well known we are.GFM has routinely ignored my specific questions, at one point disappearing for over a week while keeping funds frozen. The majority of our staff are in financially difficult positions and require the funds for immediate rent/food/etc., as is the case now. Recently, we successfully raised ****USD in 1-2 days, but cannot access this as GFM keeps the funds frozen without specifying what exactly concerns them or why this is taking so long. The recent replies sound like generalities written by ******* and read something like "the situation is complicated because of several nuances and we require more time, and will update when possible".This lack of transparency and abuse of power are inexcusable.Business Response

Hello,I opened a GoFundMe campaign weeks ago and they are still not transferring the money that has been collected on the campaign. They customer service team tells me everything is OK, but they keep pushing the transfer date out by a couple of days, and then the day before, another couple of days or a week. It was confirmed for Oct 27, then Nov 1, then Nov 6, then Nov 7, now Nov 14.They are just sitting on cash from charitable donors, preventing funds to arrive to displaced families in need, and don't provide any solution via their scam customer service that just sends template answers.Shame on GoFundMe. We used GoFundMe to raise funds to pay to record the stories of *******************************, who is a playwright, civil rights and community activist and professional story teller. She is in very poor health and her stories have never been recorded professionally. We arranged for a video shoot and studio time, and did the session on Oct. 20th. We started the *** campaign at the beginning of October and have raised $2555. We have received zero dollars. We've worked with at least 3 tech support people, have done every single thing asked of us, uploaded documents over and over and over again, only to be told every time we have to go back to square one. When we talk to a human they tell us it'll be 3-5 days. This has happened at least 5 times. Today we got another go back to square one message. As a result we've had to pay for this project out of our own pocket - which we cannot afford - and the donors are left wondering what the heck is happening with their money.
