********** for this company. I called and spoke to two different people at their call center. Neither of them could answer my main questions, which were; Am I saving money by being forced to enroll in the program since 2022? And can you (SDCP) issue a credit from the last four months as I was overcharged. They could not give me an exact number for the first question, and I would have to email them my bills even though they already have all my bills. They need to compare when they have all the info. Terrible customer service for not being able to give me how much I am saved or overcharged. For the second, the supervisor told me straight out, Our bill is not wrong, when, in fact, it is wrong since they estimate how much they are going to charge me based off **** when, in fact, **** was wrong on many occasions. When I asked for a credit Policy and Procedure, they did not have one. They literally over charged me and will not compensate me anything. This business took money from me and refuses to issue a credit of any kind. As they told me before, the bill is not wrong. It seems fishy as they opted me into their new with a lower rate only after complaining. This program has been available for over 4 months and yet, they kept me at the higher rate even though there is now a lower Power Base rate that is far lower than their current imaginary rates I forgot what its called everyone is being over charged unless you opt-into this lower rate. This is a terrible business practice. They are literally providing lower rates but keep it a secret from their customers. PS, there is no details of this on the **** bill. SDCP is a 3rd party option and charges you roughly the same basic rate as **** but its just another company I must call and try to get my bill lowered. Its a hassle. This company is unethical. They overcharge customers and haveSan Diego Community Power

Hello ****,Thank you for reaching out to San Diego Community Power and sharing your concerns. We understand your frustrations and appreciate your feedback. While PowerBase was only recently introduced in July of 2024 and is our lowest cost service option, it is also our lowest renewable energy option. With 45% renewable energy, the content of PowerBase is most comparable to SDG&Es standard electricity offering, whereas our standard default service, PowerOn, is at least 50% renewable and our premium service, Power100, is 100% renewable and carbon-free. With the introduction of PowerBase, customers now have even more choices about the electricity they receive. We are actively reviewing your account's billing details and have reached out to SDG&E to ensure that the usage data that has been communicated to Community Power is accurate. We want to assure you that if a billing error is identified, we will take immediate action to make the necessary corrections to your account. A member of our Team will be in contact with you soon with additional information and an update on your account's service level.Review fromDee F

How this organization has a positive rating is very suspect. This is a Community ************* (CCE) program where they promise its customers cleaner energy than their current service provider, which in ******************* is probably either San Diego ************** (SDG&E) or Southern California ****** (SCE). However, these programs are operating a scam and are corrupt. Simply put, these organizations buy and sell power, the utility company, SDG&E or SCE, delivers the power. The utility companies do not have the infrastructure in place to load renewables on to their grid then they currently have. They have no backup system to store renewables in the percentages that these **** claim. There are no battery fields or wind farms in their cities, so when the sun goes down, fossil fuel is powering their electricity. And we ALL get the same as it comes from the utility company. So these customers of **** are paying a premium rate for power that they believe is cleaner and being funneled right into their homes, when its impossible! Logic tells you that, yet they continue making BILLIONS of dollars preying on customers who dont know any different. And those climate change activists who should know better, promote **** to keep themselves relevant while the **** donate to their non-profits. Its all a scam and its not helping to lower carbon emissions. Cities are automatically removing their residents and businesses from their utility company and enrolling them in these ***'s where they will be paying substantially more. My advice, get out nowyou may have to wait 6 months (another part of their scam), but when they decide to blowup the rate (because they are NOT regulated by the state), hopefully you will already be out.San Diego Community Power

Thank you for reaching out with your concerns. San Diego Community Power is a community-driven, not-for-profit public agency that provides cleaner energy to the San Diego region. Community Power was formed to bring choice and competition to the energy landscape in the San Diego region. As a Community Choice Aggregator (CCA), we purchase cleaner electricity on behalf of our customers and place that electricity onto the grid, which is run by SDG&E. The California Energy Commissions (CEC) Power Source Disclosure program works with retail electricity suppliers such as San Diego Community Power every year to ensure consumers receive energy source and greenhouse gas information on the energy they use. This information is provided through annual Power Content Labels, which resemble nutrition labels, with a breakdown of energy sources such as solar, wind, geothermal, nuclear, large hydroelectric, and natural gas. For comparison, the labels include a summary of ****************** mix, which is called total system electric generation. You can review SD Community Power's Power Content Label on our website at sdcommunitypower.org/key-documents. For specifics on our energy procurement and renewable energy projects we have developed and will develop in the coming years, you can visit sdcommunitypower.org/about/energy-sources. Automatic enrollment into Community Powers electric generation service is mandated by California state law. Customers can compare their ********************************************* rates to SDG&Es and opt-in to the service of their choosing by visiting our website at SDCommunityPower.org. For additional support, customers can also call ************** or email ******************************************************************* Customers enrolled in ********************************************* service for over 60 days may be subject to SDG&Es terms and conditions.Review fromSharon S

if there were zero stars - i would give this company zero stars. i started received post cards in march. I called April 1st to opt out of this plan. i spoke with their customer service and they said it was too early to call back by June 4th. I called back 5/30/2023 and opted out by phone. The phone system stated i was opted out. NOW - i am getting billed through SDG&E more charges for the same electricity. It screwed up my true up with SDG&E in Aug and i have to through this whole process of Opting out for a 3rd time, Incur charges and they wont guarantee anything that the charges will be reversed. They do not have anything in small print stating i have 60 days to opt out from a service start date. The post cards and letters - do not state anything about receiving a confirmation number. I NEVER SIGNED UP FOR THIS COMPANY. I signed up for SDG&E. The charges are more and i cannot pay once a year with my true up. This is all some "tree hugger" scam. i want my bill reverted back to SDG&E from the day you took over. Give SDG&E some rights to cancel your stupid power program on their end. Who gives a third party company the right to have any of my personal information. I did not give you authorization to know any of my personal information. this is a violation of my privacy and privacy laws. I gave this information to SDG&E - not SD Community Power. Per SDG&E - you can backdate the date of cancellation. Go back to your phone records on 5/30/23. I input my number to never use your company. Fix this now.San Diego Community Power

Hello and thank you for reaching out with your concern. As a Community Choice Aggregator (CCA), SDCP has only replaced SDG&E as the generator of your electricity; SDG&E has continued to charge for the transmission and delivery of electricity. Though automatic enrollment into our electric generation service is mandated by **************** law, we understand the frustration you have experienced after being automatically enrolled in SDCP. We appreciate you bringing your concern to our attention. We are currently working directly with SDG&E to look further into your account and find a solution to this situation, and we will reach out to you directly via email with an update soon.In accordance with SDG&Es Electric Rule 27 approved by the ********** *************************** (CPUC), SDCP received customer account information required for the billing and collection of our electric generation service based on your electricity consumption and we are required by CPUC privacy rules to keep such information confidential. If you are seeking additional information on SDG&E providing your customer data to SDCP or information regarding the California Consumer Privacy Act or are requesting additional action in regards to your account details, please reach out to SDG&E at ************** or visit the SDG&E website at sdge.com/privacy. We hope this information is helpful and provides additional clarity, but please feel free to email ****************************************************************** with additional questions. You can also reach out to our ************** at ************** to speak with a live representative from 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday.Review fromCarlos G

Hello and thank you for reaching out with your concern. San Diego Community Power (SDCP) procures our cleaner, more renewable energy separately from SDG&E. As a Community Choice Aggregator (CCA), SDCP is only replacing SDG&E as the generator of your electricity; SDG&E will continue to charge for the transmission and delivery of electricity.
As part of our commitment to support your energy choice, SDCP and SDG&E partner together at the time of each rate adjustment to provide our customers with a comparison of typical electric rates, average monthly charges, and generation portfolio contents. You can review the most recent Joint Rate Comparison on our website at SDCommunityPower.org/billing-rates/residential-rates. This Joint Rate Comparison comparing SDG&E's rates effective 1/1/2023 and SDCP's rates effective 2/1/2023 demonstrates that customers receiving their electric generation service from SDCP are currently experiencing a total bill savings compared to those receiving their generation service from SDG&E.
Your automatic enrollment into SDCP's electric generation service is mandated by state law Assembly Bill 117, but you always have the choice to opt out of SDCP service and remain with SDG&E for your electric generation service. While we believe the combination of competitive rates and cleaner energy is the best choice for healthy communities, you can opt out of SDCP service at any time by calling **************, by emailing ******************************************************************* or by visiting our website at SDCommunityPower.org.Review fromJessica W.

1 starThis is a scam. They force you into this third party billing and tell you you have to opt out to get out of it. They are only Re billing you for the same thing you would be buying from SDGE. They make false claims that they are reselling you clean energy when they have no equipment, engineers, no infrastructure, and no way of separating the good electrons from the bad electrons.
