I am filing a formal complaint against TruthFinder for providing a background report containing false, misleading, and potentially damaging information. I am deeply concerned about their lack of accuracy and professionalism, and I believe this issue warrants your attention.Upon reviewing my background report, I was alarmed to find sensationalized and untrue claims, such as the suggestion of "uncensored graphic images" or inappropriate content associated with my name. These claims are entirely false and have caused me significant distress, as they could harm my personal and professional reputation.I trusted TruthFinder to provide accurate information, but the inclusion of baseless and inflammatory statements has undermined my confidence in their service. Despite their claims of providing "truthful" information, their algorithms and data sources appear flawed or designed to sensationalize reports, which is unacceptable.I attempted to resolve this directly with TruthFinder but have not received a satisfactory response. I did not request to suppress my background report. My request was to remove the subjective, unprofessional language and insinuations that misrepresent the content of my background report.
I have no graphic images included online and especially in the report unless they were obtained illegally or without my consent. If Truthfinder fails to address and correct the inappropriate language on their website, I will have no choice but to pursue this as a civil matter and will be seeking compensation for damages as a result of libel, slander and defamation. The report itself is acceptable; however, the language used to describe it is inappropriate and unacceptable. Change it TODAY.

The screenshots Ms. ******* provided used the word 'may,' which signifies a possibility, not a certainty. The notice explains that if graphic images are present in the searched individual's records, they will be included in the report, not that such images are guaranteed to be found. An individual must be 18 years of age to be eligible for membership.
While we cannot remove specific records from a report, we do have the option to remove an entire background report from our site. The information obtained from a report is for personal use only. Ms. ******* may suppress her report from view, if she wishes.
We can confirm that Ms. ******* has canceled her subscriptions online. Additionally, we have refunded her account back to the payment method used to enroll, and no further charges will be incurred.

I ordered an introductory subscription to Truthfinder for background checks on January 8, 2025 for $3.99. I cancelled the subscription within the limited timeframe to do so as I obtained the information I needed and had no further use for the service. Truthfinder charged me $28.33 in February despite my having cancelled the subscription to their service. I disputed the charge with my credit card company and thought the problem was solved - Wrong! They charged me again in March and I had to go online one more time to cancel a subscription that had previously been cancelled. I am disputing the charge with my credit card company once again. I do not know if this is a glitch in Truthfinder's computer system or if it is intentional to charge people despite the cancellation of their service subscription. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH TRUTHFINDER AGAIN AND WILL NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE!!!!!!Business Response

Upon enrolling in any of our numerous services, our website will guide customers to our registration page, where they can peruse our various membership choices and choose the one that most suits their needs. Consistent with applicable laws, all material terms, including billing details and automatic renewal terms, are clearly disclosed before submitting payment information, and each user is required to check a box separately agreeing to those terms before being charged. Members have the option to end their membership whenever they wish, either by accessing their account online, reaching out to phone support, or by emailing our support team.
Members can easily cancel their account online within their account or reach out to our support team by phone or email for help to ensure that there are no unexpected charges incurred. After further review, no previous cancel requests were located, and it appears Mr. ******* only cancelled his account on March 12, 2025.
We have issued courtesy refunds for the last two months' charges back to the method of payment used to enroll by Mr. ******** and no further charges will be incurred.

Once we confirm this claim, we disable the account, cancel all memberships, and return the last charge to the original payment method.

The membership was promptly canceled and deactivated, with no additional charges to be incurred. Furthermore, due to the dispute, access to this account will no longer be attainable.

On January 2, 2025, we signed up for their trial rate - ************************ and paid $14.16 what it normally costs. We cancelled within the 5-day trial period. Unbeknownst to me, my card was charged $28.33 on February 3 and again in March 1 - even though when we tried to utilize the service on March 4 and it was showing that the account was not a paid account. So we ended up just paying for the regular rate again to access the paid subscription features. It wasn't until I was reviewing my recent transactions that I noted what INITIALLY appeared to be a double charge. I called their support line to inquire about it and was told they are only showing one charge on their end and was told to contact my bank about it. I did and initiated a dispute for what appears to be a double charge. My bank has a feature that when you click into a charge, you can get a brief recent transaction history from the merchant and that is when I realized they had continued charging my bank card despite cancelling in January. Well, now they have locked us out of the account and it says to contact customer support, but they are closed. So we now cannot use a service that we paid for which means they should now refund both charges since they are prohibiting us from accessing a paid service.Business Response

Company intentionally obfuscates the opt-out process for removing personal data, which dangerously includes current address, full name, age, former addresses, and current family and house mates. When company is asked to remove personal data, they encourage you to pay for the service so you can opt out; you cant opt out without showing them the results, and you cant see the results without paying. When asked to verify personal info to remove my personal data from their public website using their automated opt-out process, they wanted to send verifications to phone numbers and emails that have never once been associated with me. They claim that they cannot verify my identity, although they have EVERYTHING about me on their website. Every other website with my personal info was easily able to verify my identity and delete my data within the same day. I found my personal information aggregated all together on this website. They off an "Opt-Out" option, wherein you must provide the link to your record. However, you must search for yourself, sit through a lengthy "loading" process, and then when you finally get to the end, the only way you can get to the direct link is to PAY for the record.I just want my information OFF of this site. It places in direct danger due to my previous job.
