Car run good, no smoke or smell and no noise. so good I was surprised it did notpass smog. now after the valve job, that CAP approved ( cap ID 3****03 and other partsthat I was not told about and another new catalytic converter it runs awful. Loud, and aknocking noise in the engine that was not there before. Also has a noise like leaking air.He told me that cap told him to do the new catalytic converter, which I found out they didnot. He was doing a "Manual Readings Mode" and not sending to CAP, This stuff has beenon going since it failed smog in May 2020 and I took it back to them June 8th. They gotnotice by cap to fix it and it sat from June 8th, til they told me to come and get it because itwould sat from another week I took it back to them on June 22, and the valve place didn'tpick up the valve July 5th. they had them back by July 11, and it still has not passed smog. They called and said it need the new converter and he said then it would pass smog. Whenit didn't I asked him and he said CAP told him to pull it on. July 23rd I when to them andthe tech said it just needed a "tiny little tweak" to get it to pass smog. Later that day thetech called and said he adjusted it and now it's getting too much gas and he was going tolook at the carburetor on monday I told him that it was already rebuild> I was told to comeand get it and drive it so that all the changes he made would work/ He told me to bring itback and after the valve job he said some things go wrong and then need to be fixed. Ihave told them several times I wanted the old car parts and they are plastic bags in my carfor that,, I have never gotten an old part. After getting it back the car knocks doesnt runsmooth chugs and it stall in the middle of the road and a swishing noise coming from theengine (July 25th) August 1 took car back to them and it would be ready by Friday the 5th.and that's when they told me it needed the new converter. I took it back on the 8th and theysaid he had to do all kinds of adjust

    To Whom It May Concern:

Our initial contact with the 1987 Toyota Corolla was through
CAP for a smog failure, on June 7th, 2022.  We did advise our customer   in the initial testing we found that there
was a low compression on the cylinder, leaking exhaust valve, causing high HC.
We recommended a valve job.    Once we completed the valve job we tested and
found the knox and Co were high. We are continuing to adjust, and we are now
dealing with high CO’s. We have talked to our customer, and she is unable to
bring in the car due to doctor appointments and other personal reasons. Ms.
***** has been unable to leave the vehicle so we can complete repairs we
continue to communicate with her so we can settle this matter for her and us.  I have enclosed some of the readings from the manual mode.  We are doing as we say and adjust and test so we can get accurate reading.

As far as the knocking noise, it is coming from the
suspension itself. We did let Ms. ***** know and kept her informed of every
item that has been placed on the vehicle. Ms. ***** stated it is costing her a
lot of money, so in good faith we advised her that we will not charge for labor
but for parts only. We have submitted all repairs to the CAP program and only
have continued with approvals. We are fine working with Ms. ***** on this
matter, we just need time to do the repairs that are needed. We hope this gives
you all enough information and we can conclude this matter and make us both
    content. We await your response.

    Cordially,

    High Tech Auto Care, Inc.

    Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:

    Complaint #17***622

It sit at they yard for a week and a half and I called them to see how it was going and they not even started on the car.

    1. They told me it needed a  valve job not why. (I am 75 years old)

    2. The knocking is coming from the engine ONLY when I drive it or it's SITTING in my car port with the engine running. Not the suspension system.

    3. When I took it to them the engine ran great no knocks, no noise of any kind coming from the engine.

    4. They called me and told me that it needed new catalytic converter which he had told me that it would pass smog so I said ok. I found out later he had put other car parts on the car with out asking me.
    5. I had only two dr appts the same week both had to be cancelled
    6. The smog reading were BETTER before he started on the car.
    7.  I asked them for all car parts and they would not give them to me.
    8. If you read the first complaint I filled you will see all this is addressed in it.
9 I have filled a complaint with BAR against them too.
    10. Each time they have it and give me a date that the car will be ready, they call me and tell me that it just needs a few more adjustments. The last time they told me this I went and got the car and asked for a copy of the parts list that they used on it. They added all kinds of parts and did not ask me or tell me about them. Nor did they tell CAP about them or the catalytic converter. And I have asked CAP about it who told me that also.
11 They are  not telling the truth.
    12. I feel that they are taking advantage of me because of my age.
    Sincerely
    Mrs. *****
