      Misleading Membership Terms and Poor Customer Service!
      I've had a membership with Thornton Winery's wine club on two separate occasions. The first time I had the membership for a little over a year. However, I cancelled it due to the establishment's poor customer service. After a while, I signed up for the membership again, because I enjoy their chocolate wine and they're the only winery who has this item. The membership costs me $55 every two months, and includes 8 free wine flight tastings a month 10% off of dining bills, and a discount on the bottles of wine. Now, I've only eaten at Thornton about three times since having the membership and I've only taken advantage of the flights maybe three or four times, during the years that I've had the membership, because they do not treat us well when we go there. Given the place another chance, on 4/29/23, my family visited the restaurant and decided to take advantage of the 8 free flights and dinner. While eating, my son bit into his cheeseburger and the paper was still on the cheese. The waiter did not replace the burger and only stated she informed the kitchen. Then there was an issue with the mandatory gratuity, which was suppose to be 20%. When the waiter brought back the bill, she gave one bill with the membership discounts and one bill without. The bill with the membership perks applied was the actual bill to be paid. However, the establishment demanded I pay the cost of the mandatory gratuity from the bill without the discounts applied. They attempted to charge me a gratuity of $89.00 on a $200.00 bill, which totals about 50% gratuity. They then tried to explain, that gratuity is applied before the discounts, which makes the membership pointless. Paying gratuity would have paid for 10% discount and half of the flights which are suppose to be included in the membership. Their practices are dishonest and misleading and seem to be a scam, and a way to overcharge the customer for bad service, despite the membership.
