      Exagen surprised us with a bill for services rendered on 10/6/2022 or somewhere along that time line. The thing is they waited an entire year to notify is that there was even a balance on our names. The way they presented us with the fee felt more as if the facility was trying to scam us more then anything. like one of those mail scams asking for $320.99. I contacted them and they informed me that i can apply for a price a price reduction and that because it happened in the year 2022, that I can have it reduced to as low as 45$. Great! thats better then 300. So I applied and asked them if i need to do anything else, even went as far as calling them a day or so later to ask if I needed anything else for the price adjustment. They said, "no, they would contact me via mail." No mail came in. then today i open the mail box and find another letter from them this time asking for *******. I was looking at this bill and found out that this isnt the same bill as before, they made a separate account, previous account ending in 823, and new one being 824, no notification or anything just boom, new account with ****+ to pay. I check the old account and the previous deduction of **** is now removed and added back. The whole practice is shady and it has left my wife in tears as to how we are going to pay for this bill with the insignificant funds i get from working. I need help, we need help to figure out what is going on, If anything we would rather pay the 300 but **** will put us in a very bad situation. We cant afford a lawyer and are lost as to where to go from here, please help us.

      My name is ********************* and I am counsel for Exagen Inc. In reviewing the account, it appears that we billed the patient $1,823.00 with a data of service of 10/3/23. We use a company called MedRev for insurance appeals and it looks like they did a mass reverse on 10/26/23 that caused the unusual patient billing. The account balance is currently at $45.00. Our billing team lead called the patient last week, explained the situation and apologized on behalf of the company. The patient understood the mistake and told us he would log into our portal and pay the balance. We apologize again for any inconvenience cause by the third-party appeals company.
