    I am writing to inform you of the damages sustained to my home due to the actions of Apex Underground (Apex Plumbing Inc.), a company contracted by the City of ****** for lead line replacements. Specifically, the water main situated at the right end of my driveway, serving the adjacent property but partially located on my premises, commenced leaking during the first week of March.On March 1, 2025, during a routine check in my basement, there was no indication of water damage. Subsequently, later that week, a malfunction with my toilet prompted a professional inspection by Golden West Plumbing. While the plumber found no issues with the toilet itself, he noted the presence of moisture on the basement wall in proximity to my furnace and water heater, advising me to monitor the situation. On March 10, Denver Water identified a leak during an inspection of the main at my neighbor's residence (***********). **** personnel were present the following day to conduct repairs. Regrettably, I was not informed of these activities and only discovered the extent of the problem on Friday, March 14, when I alerted the workers to the presence of five inches of water in my crawlspace. In light of the lack of action from Apex, I was compelled to independently arrange for mitigation. As a result, my home has potentially sustained catastrophic damage. When I requested the company's insurance information to facilitate addressing the damages, **** refused to provide it. Subsequently, a visit to their office to obtain this information resulted in a hostile encounter, culminating in the company summoning the police. This interaction, during which I recorded the events, occurred despite my entitlement to the requested information. Even after the arrival of the police, the company continued to withhold the insurance details.

    We immediately responded to Mr. ***** on Friday the 14th along with making our insurance informed of the damage.  I will wait to respond to this review until after the independent investigation regarding the damage is complete.

    On December 13th, I scheduled a major sewer line repair with **** for January 7th. On December 19th, my need became more immediate (i.e., my sewer line was backing up and I could no longer use my system without risk of flooding) and I found a contractor who was able to do the work immediately for 1/3 of the price. I had already put down a $12,000+ deposit with Apex. I cancelled the job on December 19, and they alerted me that they were going to withhold over $2,000 of my deposit as a cancellation fee--I was on their schedule for 5 business days and cancelled with 2 1/2 weeks notice. They had not done permitting and had not really incurred much, if any expense. They even tried to charge me an extra $300 credit card fee for the refund (which is a huge no-no without proper notice under the consumer protection laws). Unethical, for sure, and borderline illegal, in my opinion. I will certainly never call them again and will make sure everyone I know is aware of my experience.
