      About 7 years ago, after retiring from ********** ******** ******** after 33 years, I had to cash in or move my small retirement fund. I chose to look into Breckenridge Grand Vacations opportunities since we enjoyed spending time there. **** & I decided to look at this timeshare. After meeting with the first salesmen and being unsure, they brought out another. It felt like buying a car. Them saying “here is what we can do for you now, but if you wait prices will go up”. Since he told us this would be a good investment, we could write off our yearly HOA, we could rent it out & we could use it at discounted daily rates since we were owners, we decided to go ahead with this. This was a terrible mistake.

      We were not able to use the timeshare as we had reserved some time, due to a medical issue with me & then Covid for 2+ years. Additionally, we thought they would rent our time to someone else, as we were told initially, this did not happen for the full week. So we lost $ on those 2 times. We weren't even able to use our timeshare at the discounted price as “Owners”. We had to pay full price like everybody else. Our children have not been able to utilize it as we had hoped so. We thought if we upgraded to a 1 bedroom, they would be able to enjoy it. We were under the impression they could use it at discounted rates as well and that was not the case. The yearly HOA amount has gone up and it is not tax deductible as we were told. It is not a financial investment. It is a financial sinkhole. This is about $4000 per year to continue and we do not feel good about being lied to, coerced into this and feel like we have been taken advantage of. We want out.

We have also offered to assist you with maximizing your ownership. As previously mentioned, Breckenridge Grand Vacations does not have, nor do we anticipate creating a deed back program.

      Dear Better Business Bureau, 


      We have looked over the response that Breckenridge Grand Vacations has sent over. We need for this company to understand that we do not want assistance into using our timeshare. We want assistance in getting out of our timeshare agreement. They stated they are confident that they can turn our ownership around so we can maximize it. It seems as if they’re trying to sell us a dream just like they did during the presentation. We aren’t interested in keeping this timeshare we don’t believe that we could maximize anything from this investment which is why we want to be released from this. We’ve expressed to this company how the timeshare has become a financial burden on our family. They seem to not care because they continue to deny us and try to lead us into keeping the timeshare. They even provide us useless resources to make us think they are trying to help us but they aren’t. They are putting the responsibility to get rid of our timeshare on us but we invested money to our timeshare and this company so why do we have to go through the hassle of getting rid of it? No one wants a timeshare at all. It’s so bad to the point people are selling them for $1. So we want to say again that we want this timeshare canceled! We do not want to keep this timeshare and for the money that’s been given to this company, they should be taking the timeshare back.

      g. They continue to help us and they deny cancel our timeshare. They are putting the responsibilities on us to get rid of it when it was them that sold it to us. This is very upsetting because we don’t want anyone to go through what we’re going through. Why would we sell them something that is worthless and takes your money? It’s nopt fair on other people which is why we reached out to them to get our of it. We’re frustrated that this company is treating us this way when we’ve invested money into something we never used.       I am rejecting this response because:This is upsetting that this company will continue to not help us when we bought the timeshare from them. It's sad that this company ignores its actions but keeps owners miserable by keeping the timeshare. Your salesmen gave us false information to get us to purchase the timeshare and have us stuck in this burden. We're paying $850+ for maintenance fees when we're not using the timeshare. What are the maintenance fees going toward if we're not using it? We work very hard for the money we earn and we do not want to continue throwing away our funds for this timeshare. This timeshare hasn't been used in 5 years and we can go on multiple vacations for the same amount of money to use the timeshare one time. It doesn't make sense we are suffering while you're receiving our money. We see this to be so unfair and we will not continue to let you do this to us. We want this timeshare canceled now and we don't want to sell this timeshare to anyone because we don't want them to go through what we are going through. The money that we've given you it's only right for you to help us. It's not our responsibility when we bought it from you. We want this done as soon as possible.

      I do not accept this response from this company. I was told I was entering into a great investment. This was a lie, as I am now stuck with this financial burden. I have not been able to sell or even give this away on my own. If Breckenridge is so confident this will easily sell, then they can take it back from me and do so on their end. Have someone reach out to me with this process.

      This is the response I continue to see from this company. Selling a timeshare online is not easy. I have been a loyal owner of this company for many years now. I am now the sole owner of this contract and the only one financially responsible for these payments. I cannot continue to make these payments for years while I list my timeshare for sale. Breckenridge verbally sold this to me as an investment. I deserve to have them take this off my hands so they can sell this on their own.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      I have gone back and forth now with Breckenridge for too long now. My life circumstances have drastically changed since I signed my contract and this needs to be something this company cares about. Expectations need to be made for owners in specific circumstances. I cannot sell this timeshare on my own. Breckenridge needs to take accountability for the fact that I was told this was an investment. This is not an investment in any way and it should never have been verbally sold to me as such. I am willing to work with Breckenridge but cannot sell this on my own. I am willing to meet them to an agreement but, accountability needs to be made on their end.

      We would suggest you avoid getting involved with this company. We have been misled about the benefits of this timeshare, and we would hate to see anyone else inherit the same problems. We have tried to escape this mistake, but we can't seem to get the help we need from anyone at the timeshare. We have never been able to experience the timeshare the way the representative explained it to us. We are drowning in the fees to pay for it. We were told it was a great investment that would pay for itself. We are still trying to find the value in the purchase. We have been trying for the last year to get someone to contact us to try and resolve the many issues we have with them and we have yet to get help. We want nothing else to do with this company.       The promotional material provided by GTL states we will build valuable equity (5)freeze out future inflation (3) however maintenance rates go up every year. We have tried to sell the property as they suggest but have found that there is no market for resales of this property.  We feel that we have been decived and given false information just to get us to purchase a property.

      As we are seeing at this current time, inflation is increasing the cost of nightly stays within Breckenridge. With your ownership not only do you get your owners week, but also discounted stays (bonus time). This is what was referenced in the promotional material.

      This response is not acceptable. Your company is merely passing the buck. We do not want to list our timeshare that is why we have tried working directly with Breckenridge. Referring us to a third party company is not the solution to our issue. We do not want the timeshare and your company sold this to us, so we would prefer to work with your company to release us from this timeshare.

      I am rejecting this response because:BGV doesn’t seem to want to own the problem of their properties having no value as noted in their promotional material that they would. I have listed my timeshare with one of the suggested realtors for over a year at $ 1500 and have had zero interest not even any offers at a lower price. 

      We purchased in good faith as the sales agent and advertising brochure indicated our property would increase in value as people always wanted to buy in Breckinridge so we could sell at any time. Now we find that even BGV is not interested only in selling new products.
