    I have no idea how I ended up on Optimism Media's email list, but I started receiving spammy emails from this company that look like clickbait. (If you read the fine print: "By clicking any links in this email, you're agreeing to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.") I attempted to unsubscribe, which is when I saw this option: "Do Not Sell My Information." The implication being that they do and will sell your information otherwise--information that they presumably bought in the first place, because I've never heard of them and never wittingly gave it to them. But getting them to honor that request? According to Optimism's Privacy Policy, they traffic in the buying and selling of people's personal data from social media companies and other sources. And then they spam you. And then make it incredibly cumbersome to delete your data. You have to email them. And then you have to wait for them to email you back. And then you have to click a link in that email and complete separate forms for "Delete My Personal Information," "Opt Out of Sales," etc. And after all that, their Privacy Policy states that unless you live in the state of California, they might just not do anything in response to those requests. "Businesses" like this should be banned. They aren't providing a service; they're profiting off of our personal data. The "product" they sell is you and me.
