I am submitting this complaint regarding poor customer service and a lack of response from NameBright. I have attempted to contact their support team multiple times through email and their website regarding an issue with my domain/account, but I have not received any reply or acknowledgment. This lack of communication has caused significant inconvenience and potential risk to my domain/business. I expected at least a basic level of support or confirmation that my request was being reviewed.I am seeking assistance from NameBright to:1.Respond to my support request(s) in a timely and professional manner.2.Resolve the issue related to my domain/**************** better customer support practices moving forward.I am hoping the BBB can help facilitate communication and resolution, as all direct attempts have failed so far.

I transferred my domain **************** to NameBright from *********** so I could manage both of my domains in one place. After the transfer, my domains MX records no longer point to my email provider (Zoho), which means Im not receiving emailincluding the 2FA code needed to log in to my NameBright account. This has created a locked-out loop where I cant access my account to fix the *** records, and no one from NameBright is responding. Ive:Called multiple times (no answer)Submitted their online contact form Emailed *********************************** ********************************* and ************************ Ive also confirmed through Zoho that the MX records are currently pointing to ************************************, which I have not set up or usedso all email is essentially being dropped.Because of this, my business email and website are both down, and I cannot access the domain I legally own. I am the verified owner and happy to provide documentation.?Desired resolution:I need NameBright to either:1.Temporarily disable two-factor authentication so I can access my account and fix the *** settings OR 2.Manually update the MX records for **************** to restore ******************

This issue has been fully resolved by our support team.  The customer's account issues were fully resolved before we received the BBB complaint.  The customer transferred their domain to our registrar, and when that happens, MX as well as other DNS settings do not automatically transfer over in all cases.  The customer was using the insecure practice of using an email address directly associated with the transferred domain, rather than the industry wide recommended practice of using a third email address not associated directly with the domain name.  Regardless our support team was resolved the customers login issue within 24 business hours of receiving the inquiry and we note the customer has successfully logged into and accessed their account.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

While I do not appreciate the verbiage used by the company about me not using safe practices, the issue was resolved.

    Sincerely,

I negotiated a purchase of a domain for $100 and was forced to create an account with ********************** to claim ownership. I did, everything was fine. I was not currently using the domain, so I left it in the account. It is now expiring and I want to transfer it. I could no longer log into my namebright account to access my domain. I emailed support, and they are asking for me to send a copy of my ID and a piece of mail to "verify" my address and identity. Not a chance. None of that is needed to own a domain or have access to an account. Their site already have 2-factor authentication, and I authorized my account, and was sent to a page that said Access Unavailable. I consider this blackmail and theft. I just want the domain I paid for and own.

This customer created his ********************** account with a clearly false address and phone number, which is a breach of the NameBright Terms and Conditions and ICANN guidelines under the 2013 Registrar Accreditation Agreement.  Under that agreement we are required to verify the contact information for all registrants that use our service and suspend accounts that do not comply.  Since we are not able to verify the address or the phone number we are required to suspend the account.

See the ICANN.org FAQ page:  *****************************************************************************; or the full guidelines from this page:   **************************************************************************************

We have suspended this customers account and domain under these guidelines and until he provides us with the documentation required we are not able to lift the suspension.  We are willing to work with the customer to remove the restrictions and have communicated this to him multiple times, but he refuses to provide the documentation required.  As a result, we are not able to provide any further assistance.  If the customer  changes his mind and provides the necessary documentation we will work with him to restore access  to his account.

I have been trying to regain access to my account at namebright.com for nearly two months now. I had originally used their service at Dropcatch.com to acquire an expiring domain and registered the that domain with Namebright LLC on 05/25/2018. I created the account using the email address that I was using at the time, which I lost access to 6 months ago when a shoulder bag, containing my laptop was stolen. This Gmail account was set up with two step authentication using a phone number that I no longer have access to. I had not had any issues accessing this Gmail account as I had been using the same laptop and IP for several years and therefore was always signed into that email account and had cookies installed so that I did not ever need to log in. After realizing the computer had been stolen I tried to access my gmail account using the password but was unable to gain access without providing the 6 digit code provided by ****** for the two step authentication I had established using my old number. Therefore I lost access to the email account as well as all of the third party accounts I had set up using this handle. I contacted namebright.com and verified all of the account information and was told that in order to recover access I would need to fill out a form they provided me with, have it notarized, and send it back with additional supporting evidence. I had the form notarized and sent it back on 12/29/2023, they asked for a few additional pieces of evidence including a picture of the original ID had provided when creating the account. I provided this and two other additional IDs on 1/2/2024. On 1/8/2024 I was told the recovery process would take ***** business days. I have sent over 15 additional emails without resolution, I was told on 1/30/2024, "Our security team just updated us and it appears they will be finalizing your account recovery process later this week." I still do not have access and am being told they cannot get a response from their security team.

At NameBright.com we take security very seriously and we follow strict processes and procedures to make sure we are protecting all of our customers accounts. Our account recovery process follows those same strict guidelines, and there are times where the process is delayed.  With this customer several mitigating circumstances came up during the account recovery process.  First the request came in during the winter holidays in December 2023 and at this time of year there is an influx of requests as more customers are checking on their domains at the end of the year and discover at that time that they have an issue with their account and need to go through the Account Recovery process.

Also, in this specific request, the account username provided was incorrect, requiring more investigation and research.  This caused additional delays as we had to spend more time verifying we had the correct account and were working with the correct account owner.  I have checked with our team and we appear to be in the final stages of restoring access to the account.  We understand the frustration in having to wait for the process to complete, but we believe more customers would prefer a delay to having the wrong person gain access to the account.   We are willing to continue the conversation with the customer they just need to reach out to us directly.

I never received my package from them. I also came across their ad on ******** and I feel it's super inappropriate. It's a news report of a teacher using their product to knock kids out during school times. The ad has upset mothers in the news report talking about what this "teacher" of ********** did.

NameBright.com is a domain registrar where people can come to register .com, .net, and .org domain names.  We don't sell or ship physical products of any kind.  This complaint doesn't appear to be for NameBright.com, the video and description indicate the problem is for a different company or business and was applied to NameBright in error.

My website, BrandonLori.com, is currently inaccessible to me because of my old phone number being linked to the domain registrar I use to publish my website. This domain registrar is through NameBright.com.Since my phone number was changed, this 'broke' my two-factor authentication and am unable to login to my NameBright.com website portal to fix the issue. Alas, NameBright.com has a process to deal with this and remove the two-factor authentication. I abided by that process, which involved filling out a form, getting it notarized, and proving government issued ID and address information to prove my identity and ownership of the account.I provided the form and documentation to NameBright on August 14, 2023. When I was originally in touch with them on August 3, 2023, they told me that the two-factor authentication removal process would take up to 10 business days. It is now over 10 business days and the two-factor authentication has not been removed and the process is still not resolved. I am unemployed at the moment and desperately need to publish my website to find work. NameBright.com has been negligent in addressing this issue and fixing the problem at hand. They have also lied about a 10 business day solution, as it is now over 10 business days since my documentation was provided on August 14.I have uploaded screenshots from two e-mails. One e-mail from August 3, 2023 shows NameBright.com state that removal of the two-factor authentication will take 10 business days and one e-mail from August 14, 2023 shows when I sent NameBright.com the required documentation to remove the two-factor authentication. Please assist me with this!Thank you,*******

As an entrepreneur, I have invested countless hours, resources, and money to build my interior dcor business, *********** Designs, from the ground up. I secured the domain name focalimagedesigns.com for my online store, which I held for over two years while developing my brand. However, due to an oversight during one of Bluehost's system updates, my auto-renewal was mistakenly turned off, and I was unaware of this for two whole weeks.Within this short period, Name Bright took advantage of the situation and hijacked my ***, with the sole intention of extorting a hefty sum of over $1,000 from me. It is beyond unethical and morally reprehensible for them to engage in such lowly tactics, especially against someone who is simply trying to establish a small business.Rebranding my entire website, social media, products, packaging, and advertising materials to reflect the new *** was a significant setback that cost me months of hard work and a considerable amount of money. Even to this day, I still discover places where I need to update the *** to the new one. While it would be ideal for Name Bright to return my domain name to me, I do not hold any expectations. As far as they are concerned, the $600 they are currently selling it for is more important than being decent human beings. It is disheartening to think that someone could stoop so low as to cause such harm to someone else. I feel compelled to share my story so that others are aware of the reprehensible tactics used by Name Bright.

NameBright.com is a registrar and not the registrant (owner) of the domain. We cannot assist you in this matter as we do not have ownership in the domain focalimagedesigns.com. The complainant needs to conduct a Whois search and contact the registrant directly.

    Here is the whois information:
    ***********************************************************************

We understand this customer may have privacy protection and their information is not available.  In that case you may want to contact an Intellectual Property attorney in this matter to discuss your options and the proper venues to acquire the domain or you can purchase the domain from the seller.  Despite having privacy protection, you may contact the registrant at the email address in the public whois records and it will be delivered to the registrant.

    Registrant Email: *******************************************************

We are sorry, since we don't own the domain we do not have the authority to assist in this matter.  These conversations need to be conducted between the complainant and the domain registrant(owner).

I signed up for dropcatch.com and they automatically signed me up for namebright without my consent. This is fraudulent and a scam. If that isn't a scam, I don't know what is. I filed a complaint with ICANN to take them down.

This person has filed a false complaint against DropCatch and we request its immediate removal. According to the BBB Guidelines the complainant is required to provide their name, postal address and an email address on the complaint.  This person has clearly entered a false billing and email address.  Also, the phone number has a ******* area code instead of a ********** number as is stated in the billing address.  It is clear this person violated the BBB guidelines to file a false complaint attempting to harm DropCatch.  If this complaint isnt removed, we will take the appropriate legal action to get the situation resolved.

We purchased a domain name (TerritorialDispatch.com) through HugeDomains.com and paid the balance in full. They then said the domain name was actually registered with Name Bright. We have supplied Name Bright with all the documentation they requested (notarized) and they still refuse to transfer the domain name to GoDaddy (which is where we have all of our other publishing web sites). They promised it would be done within 5 to 10 days. It has now been 26 days and they haven't responded in well over a week to my requests. They have taken the web site down and it is causing financial damage daily. We have requested the name and contact information for their legal department and they refuse to provide it.

    Business Response

    Date: 10/05/2022

Due to matters beyond our control, our normal response time has been delayed in addressing these matters.  Because the account recovery process relates to the security of a customers NameBright account, our security team takes all measures to make sure we are protecting our customers domains, accounts, and data, while still trying to help them recover their accounts. We believe the situation is now resolved.
