We are busy trying to get our gas turned on because we didn't even know we had gas to begin with since we moved in to the place in June and we are currently freezing. We have several times sent faxes and emails to them and they say it will take 24 to 48 hours just to get the information added to the account we are trying to get started. It would have been nice to know who the gas company was so that we could have started an account with them before fall/winter began

    Business Response

    Date: 11/07/2023

This is the first email that I have seen regarding this customer.

Unfortunately, we do not know when a customer moves into a new house or business to inform them that they have gas appliances and need to establish a gas account.  I would hope that previous owners, landlords, and real estate agents would take on this role and inform the new occupant of the type appliances in the premise.  It is unfortunate that many customers, those that know they have gas and those that do not, wait until it gets cold to have services turned on and therefore, we have a mass influx of orders to work and there are some delays.  We have no way of knowing how many customers will call us each year when this occurs the first cold snap.

Specific to this situation, our customer of record is *********************.  We have an account established and an order is scheduled for 11/01/2023.  If the customer will be at the premise tomorrow, we will make sure we are there.  If we need to call a number before going out, we can call 30 min before to let the customer know we are on our way.  I am happy to add that number if needed.

************ first contacted us on 10/17/2023 after gas service was turned off for our previous customer.  Our previous customers account was just turned off in October 2023, so if the Motts were living there earlier, they were using gas service under our previous customers name.  It would appear they have other gas appliances as well, based on the low gas usage in the summer.  Probably a gas water heater.  When we have situations like this, we ask the new applicant for a notarized lease agreement, to verify when they moved into the address and what name the lease is in.

If I can answer any additional questions, please let me know.  And please let me know if the customer can be available today.

July 2021 ATT cut a gas lne and contacted CenterPoint. CenterPoint dug up the side walk that was just installed since it is a new development. I have been contacting all parties for the past 2 years and Att advised they paid Centrepoint and Centerpoint is stating the new gas company has to fix it. That is Summit Utilities. I have called every month for 9 months and requested supervisor and have never received a call back about fixing my side walk.

This is the worst gas company ever. I have went through 4 gas company changes, and this company is by far the worst. They told me there is no way they can go to each person's house and let them know the company switched, and we need to switch over our payment info. Every other company has always done that, and if they did not they would not rack up the bill to **** before shutting the service off. I have never had a issue with my gas bill because it's always on auto withdrawal. If your payment info has expired for whatever reason, either your account was hacked and you did not know or your card expired you get your service turned off and then you call and get everything straightened out. All companies do this. This company sent info to a email I don't even have it was my ex wife's email and they have my phone number and place of residence and no one reached out by the only obvious means. They just racked up the bill and shut it off. And then you call and they say they are in over there heads and can not reach all their customers. If they are in over there heads they don't need to be in business. Go electric you can get a electric hot water heater and electric heaters.

I have a property where I had the gas meter/service removed 2 years ago. Recently Summit bought our ******************** after that I've been receiving monthly bills ($200.00+)for a property that cannot even receive gas. I've tried emailing and calling them and can't receive a living person. They've also started sending the same bills to my other properties, charging **** per ccf. This is absolutely robbery, they should be ashamed of what they're doing.

On 4/14/23 I had an electrician verify power, garage door opener replaced, and had hvac restored and plumber service scheduled to return my tornado affected home to operational status. The plumber found that Summitt had locked my meter. I get that and reached out to them. They apparently had an appointment scheduled for reconection on Monday with no notification on a day that no one would be here. So even that my home made it through the tornado they didn't mind endangering my home and pets. I've never heard of a gas company following that process. While I had certified technicians here they refused any assistance and still wanted to endanger my home, pets and livelihood. Summitt has had no good reviews since taking over Center Point and should be removed from the provider list in ********

Summit utilities has increased my bill threes times the amount with no explanation. When I moved in 4 years ago Centerpoint averaged about $35 a month. We only have a hot water heater on gas..thats it. When summit took over they said there would be an increase and we started paying about $60 a month. Mad but dealt with it. Now this month my bill is $107 and they say its because I chose leveled billing to average the amount. I have never paid more than $100 so the math doesnt add up. Asked for proof and was not provided it. Literally nothing has changed on my end but they are seeking money I dont believe is owed. I dont believe they have been checking my meters. I have cameras and no sign of them on there. Beware of Summit Utilities! They are a sneaky company that wont provide you with answers when you seek them out. They will give you a run around and disconnect your call.

Summit utilities took over the gas company in ******** **, and before they took over the *** my bill was even in the dead of winter was $85. Within the first month of Summit taking my bill jumped up to $221 and the next month was $402. When contacting the company that stated I could just go to a different gas company, knowing full well that they are the only gas company that is provided in that area. I have been completely appalled at the way they are ripping off personally accounts and business accounts. They know what they are doing and don't care.
