American Auto Shield falsely denied repairing my engine stating lack of lubrication, run low on oil, oil leak long time. 2 months oil leak is not long time and I kept I lubricated as per dashboard lights. Inspector said it was an old engine and needs replacing but denied repair because of the above lie. Car Shield is a dishonest company associated with American Auto Shield. They should fix my engine, because I should qualify. This is a bad company. My mechanic always did my oil changes and put oil and any fluids in as the lights on the dash indicated. I am very disappointed with Car Shield and the American Auto Shield. I faithfully paid my premiums for over a year as I continue paying them, and I believed that my listed car parts would be covered when required. The slogan Peace of mind is in your hands is a hoax. This is farther than the truth. I have a 2008 ***** Tahoe insured with Car Shield, who American Auto Shield handles claims. My claim was included my engine, which American Auto Shield has denied wrongly. Their denial states that failure was due to lack of lubrication, being run low on oil with a long term oil leak. This is an incorrect diagnosis. The inspector sent started the car, which started with no problem. The inspector told the repair man at the shop, that I had a leak but the engine is old and its time to replace it. This is a 2008 SUV, that is dear to me and I intend to keep. But it should not be denied because of this. My Tahoe should still qualify as a covered car for its parts. The car had been at the repair shop for a month before the inspection was done. The denial included that there was a long time oil leak. Two or 3 months is NOT a long time, as long as a person puts oil in the vehicle as the cars dash indicates. My mechanic always takes care of my car. I may not know what is wrong with my car, but I always take it to him or I will have it towed. Car Shield and American Auto Shield should repair my engine.American Auto Shield, LLC

Car Shield ********************** is not trustworthy. I would prefer to leave a zero rating. The system does not appear to have a zero rating. My overall experience was terrible. My 2011 ******** Escalade was covered under Car Shield. My auto insurance coverage with Car Shield began last September 2024. My insurance covered the vehicle's Powertrain. My deductible amount was five hundred dollars. On March 15, 2025, my 2011 ******** SUV experienced an oil pump failure. My vehicle was towed. Car Shield later received data regarding address and phone number of the ** dealership. During March of 2025 to May 2025, Car Shield sent an investigator to the ** repair shop. The investigator made an assessment of the oil pump. Car Shield later required an estimate amount from the repair shop. They also required a complete list of the oil changes throughout the year of 2024. The ** dealership submitted the data. I reached out to the repair shop weeks after Car Shield said they never received the estimate breakdown. The ** repair shop indicated they previously sent out the data to Car Shield. I provided the repair shop with the e-mail address to resend the part number and the estimate amount. After going through a process of 5 days with Car Shield, they indicated receiving the required documents. Car Shield indicated the investigator would upload the data and within 24 hours someone from Car Shield would contact the repair shop with a decision regarding coverage. At the end of the 5 days, Car Shield said the information they received was not incomplete / incorrect and they could not continue with the completion of the claim until they receive ALL of the correct documentation. On Monday, June 5, 2025, Car Shield would continue to deny they had the required complete estimate documentation from the ** repair shop. I told Car Shield that they have not delivered and I requested to cancel my Car Shield Insurance.American Auto Shield, LLC

I recently took my 2015 ************* C-300 to the dealership in ***************, ** for some repair work that was supposed to be covered under an extended warranty from Car Shield. The item I was concerned with was a diagnosed leak in the transfer case which was supposed to be covered by the warranty contract I had with Car Shield. After one week of the dealership initiated a claim, Car Shield finally said they would send an investigator. The investigator contacted the dealership and set a date of four days after the contact was made. There is a reason I mentioned this - I'll get to this later. When the investigator showed up, he agreed that there was a leak in the transfer case. Car Shield said they needed more information showing the exact position of the leak. The dealership indicated that to get to the upper part of the transfer case they would have to have to dissemble part of the car and drop the transfer case. Now comes the "Catch 22"... Car Shield would not pay to dissemble part of the car and drop the transfer case as this was not a repair. If I authorized this action I would be liable to $2200 labor costs which I couldn't afford, so I had the dealership stop the action and I have to live with a minor leak. Now to the "Catch 22", I had to rent a car for 2 1/2-weeks at the cost of $1300 that was not covered by Car Shield because the work was not covered and even if it was covered, they would only have covered 1-week rental, even though they delayed any action for over 1 week. I feel I've really been ripped of as Car Shield discounted their own investigator and left their customer, "Me", hanging in the wind. Please note: If there were a 0-Star rating I would have left one.American Auto Shield, LLC

Car Shield/American Auto Shield does not hold up to what you expect from a car warranty company. You pay more than just the deductible, you pay shop fees, whatever the balance is that they won't pay etc. They try to get out of payiing for things as much as possible. I have had transmission replaced, received car rental, needed a engine replaced the first time, had to have my car towed elswhere and pay for the tow, and release of my car for diagnostice to see what was going on with my car because carshield didn't want to pay for a built engine costing $2500,( I came out of pocket $220) they much rather find a engine that is used, no knowledge of what is wrong with it. I ended up not having my car from November to march for an engine! (out of pocket expenses $2,000.) Car towed again 2nd engine replacement no car rental given. a turbo replaced as well in march received car rental for 7 days, car still wasn't ready. I as out of a vehicle once again for almost 2 weeks. engine light on althrough november through present with 2-3 , seven day car rental with the jobs lasting more than 7 days and all done at seperate times. Superivosrs don't return calls, *** are rude, they do not put notes in the system like you ask they put in what they want to appear as you said something or didn't say something. this entire experience with car shield has been exhausting, ridiculous, frustrating, be mindful a few of the *** were helpful along with 2 supervisors but the bad expereinces outway the good.American Auto Shield, LLC

Purchase the warranty program a while back and had a claim recently. The majority of the repairs were engine components such as wiper motor fuel pressure valve and fuel pump. After submitting the claim from the dealer, they argued for 45 minutes and came back with only one item was covered, but theres also an additional $125 in parts charges bringing my total charge for the warranty work to $335. The total repair bill for the vehicle is approximately 5000 when I procured the agreement. I was assured that all mechanical parts inside the engine was covered. This was an outright lie.American Auto Shield, LLC

Administrative issues have my shop unpaid for an invoice 2 months old because of a discrepancy on their end with a VIN number that was their fault for not correcting. Has nothing to do with the repair process on our end.American Auto Shield, LLC

Beyond VERY disappointed and shocked that my claim was denied with little explanation via a phone call from American Autoshield! I purchased coverage in July 2024 and claim was filed in January 2025. I requested a thorough WRITTEN explanation as to why the claim was denied and NEVER got a response! I only received an email that I could download my contract to review it! The repair shop has tried to help with handling of this claim and still the claim was denied. Quite frankly, I still do not understand why it was denied because I never received a detailed explanation of the denial, per my verbal request to the claims *********** addition, I feel completely misled by the sales representative when I purchased this Gold coverage! I had inquired with multiple warranty companies and decided to go with CarShield/American AutoShield. I should have done better research into this company! Come to find out that there was a BIG lawsuit against the company for false advertising in 2024 to the tune of $10 million! I feel completely misled, lied to, and jerked around! I am writing this review to WARN others! BEWARE of purchasing warranty coverage from this company!!In the meantime, I am searching for what I can do to appeal the denial. I was told by claims representative via phone that I could NOT appeal the denial decision! Seems completely fishy AND possibly worthy of a complaint to Colorado Insurance Commissioner as well as seeking legal advice (which I cannot afford because I wasted my money on monthly payments for the Gold policy that was not worth one ***** of the money I spent!)! All around BAD FAITH claim denial practices!Don't waste your time or money on this company! I don't usually write reviews, but feel that this negative review is needed for the public!American Auto Shield, LLC

They have a "Shield Repair Network" where they recommend shops that they are doing business with. So instead of me using my mechanic I used one they recommended. Now American Auto Shield they are refusing to pay the rate of hours THEIR mechanic is stating that we ******* is YOUR mechanic. It is on YOUR network and YOU recommended we use them. But YOU refuse to pay the hours YOUR mechanic and company has suggested we use. This is not my problem but your companies issue. If you are partnering with others than you should be making sure they use your pricing, and hours, and etc. Now I have to find out where to come up with thousands that I should not have to be dealing with. This is not acceptable. Stop referring customers to others who are not working with you correctly.I expect American Auto Shield to resolve this hours issue with the mechanics. I would not have dealt with this company doing the work had you been up front and told me you would not honor their hourly rates and work schedules.American Auto Shield, LLC
